posted a message on Ladder vs Character slots

It definitely wont ship with RoS. Ladder is a way to keep the game fresh. After RoS has been out for a few months...half a year or so and interest starts to dwindle, that is when you can expect ladder to be released. You can think of RoS release as a fresh "ladder season" if you want since everyone will be starting anew.

    - Too big frequency of Smart Drops. In my opinion it shouldn't be more than 25% chance for a Smart Drop. Now it looks like it's about 70% - I'll try to do some math here next time I have a long playing session.
I agree completely. It seems like its about a 5:1 ratio of smart drops to random. It will be very difficult to find gear for other characters with the way it is right now. I feel like 30-40% would be good. I've also noticed that crafting is the same way. I was trying to craft some shoulders for my monk after I had done a run on my barb, about 2/3 of the crafts had barbarian skill bonuses on them, even though I was crafting DEX shoulders.

I know what you mean. I started a new Barb, got to para 45 and...I've hit the wall. I'm looking for new meaning in my farming on live other than paragon experience

Looking at those lvl 70 rolls, it looks to me like the top CC, CD IAS rolls on live are still the top rolls at lvl 70, which is what I suspected. So I'll keep crafting amulets and hope to get another trifecta...

I know that blizz wants the new gear to replace the old gear, I would hope that would be the case. However especially with the drop rates as slow as they are on the PTR (here's to hoping they bump it up significantly before release) it seems to me there is a good chance that a rerolled lvl 60 amulet with good trifecta stats is going to be competitive with a legendary amulet that doesn't have at least 2 of the 3 stats.

Also: Magic Find. It can roll pretty high on Amulets, and might be worth hanging onto since its being removed from all gear rolls in RoS

http://us.battle.net/d3/en/profile/XAIM-1999/hero/38564805the amy I'm wearing on my barb for example I think could reroll to be useful for maybe a month or so into RoS

I'm also just looking for ways to be productive on live that will carry over to be useful more than a week into RoS :P

Jaetch I was wondering if you would answer a question I've had...

I don't have the Beta, so I need someone with experience over there to help me out. From what I have seen, Trifecta stats seem to have been reduced, specifically Crit Damage. Do you think it would be a good idea to keep rolling amulets, and/or looking for high CD rings to reroll with higher main stats later (int/dex/str ect) at lvl 70? CC, CD, IAS are all stats that will scale quite nicely regardless of level, which is why I ask this question. Will an amulet with 8% CC, 90%+ CD, 7% IAS and a lvl 70 main stat roll be competitive with the legendary amulets at lvl 70? OR are the legendary amulets that drop at lvl 70 in torment (I'm assuming stronger legendaries can drop in torment that we lowly PTR'ers can't get at right now) going to blow a strong rare trifecta out of the water?

Same question goes for gloves too I guess, although it looks like the shrine gloves will ultimately be the best choice for almost everyone.

posted a message on PTR 2.01 builds?
I'm hoping they up the monster density on the PTR soon, we are at what seems like pre-1.07 patch density levels right now and it just makes all builds feel slowww....

Once the density is upped, it will be easier to know how well a build works, with resource juggling ect

posted a message on sorta upset with the PTR...
Lag is lag, has nothing to do with console or PC. Look at your latency, its likely quite high. PC is the primary game platform, and you obviously haven't played console version, because its quite dissimilar from what is currently on the PTR. Also consider that the PTR servers are most likely housed in California, chez Blizz.

The PTR servers are being slammed right now, and are not designed to take high load, since they are not live servers. So it is understandable that you are laggy, and it takes 30 minutes to get into a game.

If you do not want the first skill from a skill category placed on your bar when a new active skill slot comes open, there is an option to disable it under "Gameplay" in the options menu. Its a "make the game easier for people who don't know the game" feature. Kinda sounds like you may have been one of the target audience.

CDR works like this, if you have 20% on skill u get a cd down from 10 to 8. if you then have 25% CDR in helm you get 8x0.25 more reduction and so on
This can't be right. CDR of 100% would mean skills have no CD. Very definitely wrong.
Because...0sec CD is unheard of in this game?

From what I saw in the Beta streams I watched, it looked like you wouldn't be able to get near 100% CDR without an Empowerment shrine, but maybe that's incorrect. It doesn't seem unreasonable to me that 100% CDR = 0 sec CD though.

posted a message on What online interaction is left with RoS?
If I knew nothing about the game and read the opening post, I would come away with the impression that the listed negatives are rampant, persistent, and unmanageable. Having played the game, I know that this is not the case. There are very few instances in a multi-hour session of gameplay where I notice the ill affect of forced online play. To be honest, the only time I actually notice any of the lag/desync issues is when I'm playing a WW barb. Its really not that big of a deal. The servers are very seldom unavailable to play on. I, for one, am very happy to put up with the slight inconveniences of forced online play in order to maintain the integrity of the game.

Also, I'm not convinced that they are getting rid of trading. They are getting rid of the AH. I still think that rare items will have a place in the game, once legendaries have been balanced; otherwise they are making itemization worse, not better.

posted a message on Rares in RoS
I may be totally wrong, but I thought the way it was right now was that rares can roll 6 affixes, whereas legendaries have 5, and one of them is uber? Perhaps that is totally wrong but that was my very quick basic impression when watching some streams.

Things like trifecta rings I think will still have a place in the game, and a rare weapon with an awesome damage roll/socket/CB/CD/main stat will probably be competitive still.

posted a message on Pre-expansion patch release date speculation....
Loot drop rate is tied to the availability of loot. Drop rates are epicly bad because the ease of trading via the AH, blizzard has stated as much many times in the past. One major reason they are removing the AH is so that they can increase drop rates, and make the game more rewarding...loot 2.0 and the AH cannot co-exist. If loot 2.0 and the AH were both active, everyone who plays the game would be uber geared in a week, and the game would die before the expansion hit.

So, Loot 2.0 will go live either on the same day as the AH shutdown, or sometime after but not before. Blizzard above all other companies is extra careful about announcing release dates, and once they have made that decision, I find it very hard to believe it will be changed.

Also, it wouldn't take too long to replace your bracers with crafted ones, There aren't that many affixes that roll on bracers and the combo of str+vit+cd+ar isn't that difficult to get, compared to other crafted slots. You just need to put in the time farming

Witching hour, and a LS skorn will go a long way. your rings are pretty weak as well, getting trifecta or at least CC + AS or CD is quite important. IAS, CC and CD are damage multipliers, to get the most for your money, you want to keep them somewhat balanced. Getting a shit ton of CC with no AS wont help much since you aren't attacking very often, the same can be said with any combination of the other two multipliers.

The 3 set IK set is not really that great, and the gloves are really weighing you down. If you find you cannot afford a witching hour, at least replace the gloves, and do it by crafting. It takes patience and some farming time, but well worth the reward once u find a good roll. I wouldn't even bother with the set to be honest unless you find a good deal on a well rolled IK gloves, and by that I mean with CD and all res or IAS.
