That complaint isn't half as bad as one posted in the official forums.

A guy claimed to have just seen his first set piece drop when he got disconnected and wasn't able to pick it up.

Got 8 legendaries so far since 1.0.4:

    Sever
    Windforce
    Goldskin
    Fire Walkers
    2x Tormenter
    Sleth of Ath
    Visage of Giyua

    Paragon lvl 9

Somehow, you got my luck. I found 30 legendaries and 6 set pieces pre-patch, but have a big fat 0 since the patch. I'm running with over 200% unbuffed without swapping and have been getting tons of rares and the only "legendary" that I found was a perfect ruby recipe.

There are certainly some poorly designed mobs in the game. The problem is that they've designed certain classes to be ranged and others to be melee, but have mobs that ignore this fact.

Most ranged classes are designed to be able to kill better but give up defense to do it. This is the basis for class balance. Mobs like writhing deceivers, Lacuni, and those alligator looking things under the sand have a design which allows them to insta-kill with no defense other than running. These mobs are completely invulnerable or invisible when not in melee range and are designed to be able to pop up on you and strike before you can hit.

The only real defense is to outgear them. Unfortunately, getting your gear to the point where you can handle these mobs causes the rest of the Act to be an insignificant faceroll. This is just a poor design.

Yeah, I'm really in a dilemma right now. On one hand I hope people didn't buy enough brimstones and the price will shoot up after it drops right after the maintenance. On the other hand: if I sell them now, it might be a bit less risky. I'm probably too late to really sell a lot of them before the maintenance start though, so I'll just see what happens.

@Curtarc, that might've been on the US though. I've never seen them below 50-60k, although I didn't check it 24/7 of course. Thanks for the input to both of you!

I had originally thought that the demand for these would be huge because all the legendaries would be very good. However, there are still a ton of legendaries that will never be used or sold and will still be salvaged. Also, the overall prices of items should come down significantly with the buff to loot drops.

If it were me, I think that I'd unload them now that you'd get a guaranteed profit. I think the people planning to craft legendaries and selling them for 100's of millions are going to be in for a big disappointment.

There's no magic spot or mob that drops legendaries that I've found. My build/gear has been constant for a while and I'm averaging 1 legendary/set item about every 5 hours with this current run. Most of my legendaries have been ilvl 61 and 62 and I'm wondering if I'll see the same results since a good many have been moved to ilvl 63. Hopefully you're right and the speed of the run and # of mobs makes up for the lower drop rates.

I'll try the same run for a few days to see how it goes. I might mix in a few Act 3 runs to see if there is any difference in drops.

5hours / legendary is awesome if you are lucky that much. Constant farming here and 100hours/legendary here..

I do 300%MF including NV stacks and Act2 farming all the way.

I went 160 hours before finding my first one. I've found 30 legendaries, 6 set pieces, 1 JC recipe and 1 legendary BS recipe in the last 150 hours.

It was about hour 160 that I started bumping up my MF. I got to the point where I was running Act 1 with 275% unbuffed without swapping. I kill every single mob that I come across and all but 5 legendaries and 2 set pieces have come from trash mobs. I think swapping and not killing trash severely cuts down on the loot that you get. If you're not swapping, there is no excuse for a DPS geared DH to not kill trash. I use a bow with Ball lightning. I just fire a couple BL's as I'm running and the mobs explode. Killing trash might slow my run down by a few minutes, but no enough to notice.

I lowered my MF a little for Act 2 and 3, but still have about 210% unbuffed with a follower on my normal gear. I have noticed that I don't find as many rares overall as I did with 275, but the speed and ilvls in Act 2 make up for it.

You're not losing anything. The cap is 300% without NV. You have 282%. You won't start losing until you get to Paragon level 7. Then, you can start upgrading a piece at a time.

I'm not quite as high as you, but I'm in the same boat.

I dont think you can really compare time needed to complete full Act3 clear with a quick farming route in Act2. Things will change tomorrow anyway.

Quick farming runs in Act2 with MF gear will be the most effective way to farm rares. The ratio of elites per minute or rare per minute should always trump anything you can achieve in Act3 due to lay out of the maps and difficulty of encounters in the later act.

With 1.0.4 around the corner, there is no thing to be considered in the form of Paragon levels. Short farming runs in Act2, where your uptime of NV experience bonus will suffer due to short route, frequent restarts and monsters granting less experience per kill will lower your experience gain compared to Act3.
We will have to make decision between rare farming efficiency and experience gains. Interesting choices and options ahead of us, which is always good.

I would agree with this. I think that my plan will be to farm as heavily as possible for the short term and not worry about Paragon levels. I'm hoping that my luck will hold up and I'll be able to find a few of these new legendaries and/or set pieces to sell. The prices should be through the roof at the beginning. Once the prices start to come down, I'll start the leveling grind again and work on replacing my MF gear with normal gear.

I'm just wondering if I should leave my great Act 2 run with tons of elites for a longer/less elite Act 3 in order to bump up my chances of getting ilvl 63's. With some legendaries being bumped to ilvl 63, the chances should be greater in Act 3.

i start on the quest 'kill siegebreker' to have all the needed portals. after SB its all linear so i just do everything after him, but 1st i go get stacks in keep depths. lvl 1 most of the times has 4 elites.
i normally do full clears (meaning every single elite in the act) cause honestly thats more worth it then reseting my NV stacks...

but anyway, if u start on that quest its very easy to hop around the act as you please. its def worth it to do keep depths, barracks (goblins and big chests in those 100%), and everything past SB.

How long does your run take?

What is everyone doing for Act 3 runs? I can farm Act 3 but am farming Act 2 because I can't find a run that I can do as fast that has as many elites.

I start in the Vault which gives 8-12 elites.
Do mines which is another 2. Alcarnus for another 1-2.
Check Ancient Path for you know who.
Do the cave at the beginning of the Oasis for another 1-2.
Check to see if The Ruins is up for another 5-8.

This is a lot of elites in almost no time (and normally 3-4 goblins).

I can't seem to find a run in Act 3 that gives me so many elites in the amount of time. Any advice?

    Quote from Zero(pS)

Do we know how much exp mobs give on Acts 3/4. I'm asking that because I don't think you can have maxed +exp gear (below lvl 60) and still farm experience on Acts 3/4.

If Acts 3/4 mobs give a lot more xp than say Act 1, I don't think it's going to change that much.

Now rubies are definitely gonna increase in price :D

XP gear swapping is going to become the new MF gear swapping...

I can just see all of us running around with a spare set of lvl 50 gear with +xp.

I'm currently running with about 210 MF on my farming gear with a +25 topaz in my helm. I think that I'll just keep MF until I get to Paragon 10, or so and then I'll be able to start swapping out my farming gear.

I don't think we can really figure out this question until we learn how much XP the Inferno mobs are worth.

I think they spiked about a week ago and brimstones were going for 400k. I have a feeling that plans will be like everything else in that people's expectations are going to be too high.

We can't really expect an ilvl 61 1-hander to be 1200 dps, can we? That would just destroy the market and the game.

posted a message on Magic Find 1.0.4 News... Insider Leak or Hoax?
I'd be all for this. I don't understand the hate about the BoE, though. This guaranteed legendary drop would benefit all the people saying they don't get legendary drops and wouldn't crush the economy because it would BoE. It would still keep the value of godly legendaries high so everything that you found in normal farming could still be sold.

As someone who spent a hell of a lot of time and gold getting MF into their normal gear, I love the idea of having a penalty for swapping.

Hoax or not, I would agree with these changes. I would like to see the elite kills have to be Inferno kills, though.

However... because of the next Inferno nerf and the drop rates being pumped up, this probably won't make a difference because we'll all be drowning in loot.

To add... most bots that I've ever seen farm NM and Hell. They are gold bots and just get the high elite kills from nuking the rooms.

Another add... legendaries do drop if you have a high MF. I found 3 legendaries and a set piece over the weekend. That puts me at 30 legendaries and 6 set pieces, and 1 JC plan. I didn't find my first one until hour 160, so all of those have come in a little over 140 hours.

You probably will get one but it will be worthless because the loot and drops will be buffed so much that that great roll you just crafted will be vendor trash.
