    Hi Skellington,

What I would do, is log on to battle.net, register your CD-keys, and download the most up-to-date installer directly from Blizzard. This should eliminate any issues you're having thats related to the disc versions or disc's themselves.

posted a message on Nerf to WotB:ToC what are us Barbs going to do now? (New build to tryout)
I think the best response from the Blizz Developers would be to buff other versions of WoTB runes so that Thrive on Chaos doesnt seem like the only option. What if Insanity offered 3.5x damage for a short period, just as one rough example. I think attention should be given to other runes because the mechanics of Thrive on Chaos is sweet. Perma archon is sweet, buff the other options that are lacking and make those more appealing. Don't simply nerf the some of the most well-known builds we have

posted a message on Help me with gear (25m budget) :( trying to boost dps
If you havent already found a solution I may be able to offer a little advice: Go to the auction house and look up two things, trifecta gloves with dex and a generic trifecta ring. put the max buyout at 8m a piece (you'll find that the cost effectiveness of upgrades really begins to diminish as you go higher and higher... marginal gains for large amounts of gold.) Without typing a novel on here, by searching the trifecta gloves and ring you're going to add in one major damage modifier that you are lacking in those particular areas - two for the ring, which has avg dmg and CC but no CD or AS - what I recommend doing, is going into the hardcore chat channel and linking a few different pieces and then going into a game and directly comparing them by clicking the link you posted in the chat channel. This will show you exactly what kind of increase to expect on your character sheet dps. I saw that the gloves have a really high amount of dex, however, I'm pretty convinced a set with half the dex and all 3 major modifiers would be better. I know for certain that ring can be upgraded. Hope this helps.

edit -- within budget feel free to compare generic trifecta rings + dex and generic trifecta ring + avg dmg whatever has the best deal/bang for the buck. try and maintain a high attacks per second to crit often and generate a lot of tornado's that tick for damage very often.

Says the guy with the Amount of elite kills, kills, character class levels etc in his signature, a little hypocritical/ironic wouldn't you say?. Come on! Ranking, stats, leaderboards, ladders, races, global events, whatever, they have all been an inherent part of gaming since the classic arcade! get over the notion of e-sports (which is real so get used to it), theyre not even related and its blinding the bigger picture for you guys.

    LOL what?

If anything my "career stats" there show that I'm NOT competitive. I mean unless you think that a pLvl 69 WD (which is barely top-7k in the world at this point) is somehow eSport-y. The numbers in my signature PROVE that I don't espouse eSports since there are literally HUNDREDS of accounts with 10x the number of elite kills as I have.

My signature proves that I'm very much NOT competitive and, in fact, doesn't even list my "best" stats. If you really think that me pointing out that I have 33k elite kills is somehow espousing eSports when it's one of the most underwhelming things in the D3 community then I think you're just looking to take a swipe at someone.

Besides, if I were espousing PvM competition I'd be listing my "world rank" and not the actual numbers, or I'd be linking to my diabloprogress profile. To think that THOSE stats, which are fairly pathetic in the grand scheme of things, are somehow me championing PvM competition.... that takes a wild jump of the imagination.

I mean I could change my sig to "#6983 WD in the world!" but I don't think that would be all that impressive nor would it send the message that I'm trying to send.

Also listing that I have a lvl 60 of each class... that's promoting competitions? Really? There are numerous people out there who have a pLvl 100 of each class and I'm not even 40% of the way there on my first toon. If you think my signature is somehow promoting competition then I guess you think a guy saying that he finished 400th in the Boston Marathon is a statement of competition and not a statement of his pride in the fact that he "did it" and nothing more.

The reality is my signature is a "I did it" thing and I'm sorry that you can't see that. I figured the fact that the #s in it were pretty pathetic would have spoken for itself.

Lets be honest here, Shaggy. Anyone who posts their statistics or information like that is doing one thing: Broadcasting their achievements (no matter how small or large) to a community to see and potentially compare theirs too. I mean, its either that, or you put it in your signature for yourself to see on your own posts and that just sounds asinine, doesn't it?

Let me be clear, I definitely agree that the things you have done are not eSports worthy or distinguishably notable at all. But the reality of posting such statistics is exactly what a ladder, or leaderboard, or stat board does. It just happens to compile everyones in one area. One thing I'd like to mention is that I never said you "espoused" anything, as you so eloquently repeated throughout your retort. But again, I have to mention the ironic part that you seem to know that your paragon level 69 Witch Doctor is in the top 7,000. The fact is, a leader board or similar utility - see how I noted that special little word there - offers much more than a competitive factor (although it undoubtedly does) and it is a great utility for people to use to directly compare other stats, gear, level, achievements, and the like, all in one spot as well as look up very specific demographical statistics, which happens to be important to a lot of people. Not everyone who takes Diablo 3 seriously is a "serious gamer," Some people only play one or two games at a time and try to play them well.

Now I could understand a person not participating in a ladder, which is specifically a competition, but saying that you don't want a leader board, or record, or ladder, that is simply being selfish. It is abundantly clear that you are missing the forest for the trees and, in my opinion, being very stubborn about it.

I have to agree with shaggy ... no eSports. Dungeons or even endless spiral staircases (as they are briefly introduced in Tower of the Damned & Cursed) would be a fun addition, but without the eSport aspect. Haven't thought much about the other ideas you've presented in this posting, but just glancing over them they seem OK. Thank you for your work & effort to bring together ideas & discussion topics to the forefront for us to rehash.

The one recurring thought I have with the Diablo franchise is "keep the eSports out of it."

Rankings, leaderboards... not my thing. Never will be.

    Edit--

E-Sports has nothing to do with stats, ranking, or the like, e-sports is a term to describe the global PROFESSIONAL participants. I think people are beginning to convolute the term and applying it to anything that has any sort of competitive vibe to it. Statistics and leaderboard ranking do more than just create a competitive atmosphere (by the way, without any competitive factor, its just stagnate) But more importantly gives a tool to compare. If you're not into it, do not participate, who cares! But just because its not your cup of tea, dont shoot it down. It is well known that a lot of Diablo 2 players and classic gamers alike yearn for a ladder system or some sort of ranking system. It keeps it interesting and implements a new form of incentive to play - which Diablo 3 is famous for lacking. So lets not get carried away trying to strip the game of some multi-dimensionalism at the sake of being ignorant.

posted a message on Patch 1.0.9 Preview, a dream...
While this does tackle a lot of the mundane issues with Diablo 3 at this time, I feel its still neglecting improper incentives. Who wants to play a game and grind to level paragon 100 just for a portrait border and a larger number? Their current reasoning is to get more MF to find more items. It's like for some reason Blizzard thought the game needed to solely revolve around itemization. What we need is a purpose to gain a level. Stats are okay, but mostly, I think at a minimum an additional tier to the skill rune system is a necessity. I really think that having a skill and choosing a rune is just too shallow or simple for anyone to enjoy for a prolonged period of time. By adding additional tiers of the skill rune system (preferably unlocked at higher paragon intervals) it provides a reason to increase a characters level, it creates diversity among the player types, and depending on the sub-runes themselves, a much deeper way of playing the game. Possibly, unusual procs, or additional proc style bonuses. I really feel that the gameplay in Diablo 3 is stellar, but the leveling system and the way that you gear your characters is just way too generic. It was a success in the fact that it is very transparent (with tooltips on) but because of its simplicity it lacks prolonged stimulation to any more advanced gamer.

I like your ideas ... except for the 'Trading House'. It is not necessary AT ALL. I DO NOT WANT TO GO BACK TO THE DAYS OF D2 & WASTE HOURS NOT PLAYING THE GAME, GETTING SCAMMED, OR SITTING WITH MY THUMB UP MY BUTT WAITING FOR SOMETHING TO HAPPEN ... IN GAME OR OUT, JUST TO TRADE OR BUY (caps intended). I will NEVER use such an outdated system of trade again. Leave that poor dead horse to lay in peace.

    Quote from Bleu42

Item to item trading was a cornerstone, for me personally of D2.

    It never existed.

You traded items for value. The currency changed in the years, from Sojs to runes.

Unless you traded one or two items and then didnt trade again.

If you had issues navigating the bartering system in Diablo 2, I'm sorry, you just flat out didnt take the time to understand it. Let me be frank, it was extremely simple. If you got scammed, once again, your fault. Pay attention. I think the trade house is the best of both worlds and I've suggested similar concepts. The largest part is that you maintain the sociability of bartering and more stable prices but instead of "waiting in a channel with your thumb up your ass like an idiot" You can just search for what you want, and offer what you have and the same goes for your treasures you wish to trade off yourself.

A second point to the "trading didnt exist, you just traded for currency" While that is definitely possible, I know first hand that people often traded for items that were valued similarly. Hey, what do you know, there was no SOJ medium there. The most important fact, though, is that the SoJ's were semi-hard to find legitimately (they could be strategically "farmed" - more like you run specific areas because of the Treasure Class/Mlvl drop system in D2 which is vastly different from Diablo 3)

The SoJ didnt drop from every single thing you touch like gold, for example, which is so abundant and easily acquired it has led to severe exploitation and manipulation. Some may argue "SOJS WERE DUPED" I for one have never seen this negatively affect anyone. probably between 2 or 3 thousand SOJ's went between my account and my brothers account and I never saw one "magically disappear" or "vanish." The fact stands that SoJ's and Highrunes were a much more stable way of trading items that also had a lot of intrinsic use.

With that being said, the style of itemization was much different in the predecessor. What I mean by that, is that items typically had more multi-dimensionalism than the items that are used in Diablo 3, where everything is basically generic for all classes. I think most people can agree that the Auction House wasn't a huge failure - it was actually just way too successful. It allows a person to teleport from the beginning of the game to the very late stages of the end game, it destroyed socialization, but it never had a stabilized in game economy even when people botted gold and items through the roof, and the only reason it seems "stable" now is because gold has hit its floor price of $0.25 per million (which is actually higher than its REAL value which can be purchased from third party parties much much cheaper, thus, making the stability an illusion) and to this day when so many people have quit from dissatisfaction you can still find crazy variances in value.

Awesome video! My favorite part was when you did that first run with barely any exp and then recorded your next run with basically 98% of your exp bar filled for paragon 96 so you could level up in the early portion of a run! That wasn't misleading at all!

My second favorite part was that you couldn't include cliff notes in the OP and instead forced everyone to watch your YouTube video.

I really hope the expansion brings a hell of a lot more incentive to leveling besides just having a bigger number and a damn portrait border.

Thanks for your help! Just a reminder to anyone who's wanting to get involved here: Please summarize what your characters/account has to offer, simply because if we get a list of 15 people it would become very tedious to look through everyones profile instead of just relevant ones that say in a very broad sense what theyre capable of doing.

If you are requesting certain gear just go ahead and ask and hopefully someone reads it and is able to help a brotha out. If you are trying to help donate the gear - remember - it can be gotten back in 3 days and is only on PTR so it is not a permanent loss of gear. Please post battle tag/link to profile and thanks again!

This will be the official thread dedicated to helping those less fortunate than some of the more seriously geared participants to borrow some PTR gear (if you're unaware, you can recopy every 3 days, thus duping your gear, and not actually losing real gear IN PTR ONLY)

That being said, I'd like to compile a list of Battle Tag's that are people willing to help the community out with their gear on a FIRST COME FIRST SERVE BASIS

The way it will work, I will update the Original Post (OP) with a list of participating battle tags, you can then reach out to those members directly via PM or in game chat, or on this thread directly to respectfully request the items you would like to borrow. In theory, with a "pay it forward" kind of attitude and some decent participation from some of our upper strata of players, we can allow a lot of people to test out some builds they might otherwise not have the opportunity to try out for some time. So please, be generous, its PTR and NON permanent after all, and is for a good cause.

Maybe sum up the data of your account like I will with mine:

posted a message on pick one
    Quote from Ayeri

Totally 1. Just don't like the fact that every class can stack IAS to the max, which increases their resource generation while a WD has the same regeneration at every level of IAS and thus forces you to pick so much mana regen gear.

Regeneration does not have to be increased in my opinion, but there's some need for modification on the system to make more gear choices viable.

Besides the fact that what you said is technically incorrect but more or so misleading, I think what you were trying to say is that some skills with proc-rates that coincide with resource recovering attributes are generally heavily utilized. The fact is IAS has no effect on discipline (except with a rune that has a chance to recover on critical hits and critical hits scale with attack speed DH) no direct effect on Hatred Regen (DH), but can help with recovery of Arcane Power (through AP on critical hit stacking, which can be costly), Run Like the Wind for a barb (which is really only important if you're using the Wrath of the Berserker style - which really isnt required for a lot of MonsterPower levels depending on your gear) I will say that it definitely helps Monks a lot. Witch doctors can also get insanely high regen rates and the bonus to the mana pool is larger than any class. Try getting a larger pool of arcane power. the Witch Doctor is a great character with a lot of flexibility.

    Quote from Torres

Do you think this can help to get the game with a lot of fun?

Can't think of a single person who wouldn't play with Monster Density at 1000%.

And probably at the MP they can one-shot stuff at maximum MF (infinite legendaries for people who can one-shot MP 4-5 stuff?).

I would, I honestly feel that the density wasn't improved enough in 1.08 PTR. Act one still feels very spacey compared to act 3. Lets make use of all this space, its the end game after all, I want some serious battles going on. I think they need to double the density from what they increased. I also think that a density controller would be absolutely bad ass, or if density automatically scaled with each monster power. Otherwise, you'd have people making insanely dense MP0 for leg farming (it would get out of hand pretty quick) but if it scaled with MonsterPower I think that would be the shit!
