AS% is really bad, since you'll be using more mana without much added benefit. Don't neglect defensive options (and rolling vit is one of the most effective ones) for higher solo GR pushing.

posted a message on Double Bounty..... More like Double Lag

I have anywhere between 165 - 280ping/ms right now. It's just diablo, because I went into a game of League and I got 16 ping stable. In CSGO I got 5 ping stable.

    What is wrong blizz?

Blizzard calculates back and forth travel. A one-way ping if you are very close to the servers and your connection is insane and stable should be around 10-20ms. Everything beyond that is either impossible or just another value. It is literally impossible to have 5ms ping in an online game today, unless you play from a university central optic fiber lane and your university is in the same city as their game servers.

Also since Blizzard calculates the latency differently, you can not compare these values easily. Most games only show the one-way "ping" which does only partially reflect the quality of your connection. Games are lying to you, only Blizzard speaks the truth.

posted a message on Losing steam for Season 4
    Quote from Polrayne»

I just watched Quin69's video guide on Monk's U6 gameplay to "push" Greater Rift progression for the season. The sad word that I heard early on that made me sorta, mentally, give up on the Season is the fun word of "snapshot."

If you haven't watched the video, a brief description; Monks are being encouraged now to fish for a GR with a Power Pylon somewhere near to the beginning of the first level of the GR. So that when you use the Pylon, the Exploding Palm skill of the Monk takes a snapshot of the damage and then you continue to piggy back the EP to new mobs throughout the GR. Even though the Pylon has worn off, your EP on existing mobs is still reflective of the increased DPS and you continue to spread that EP for the rest of the clear.

Snapshotting was a thing in vanilla with Sweeping Wind and it made the game play feel as though you were only being effective if you could maximize a gimmick, or fault of the design, to progress.

Between this and knowing that to come anywhere near the top 200, 100 or even 50 on the Leader boards of any given Season, you have to play at least 8 hours a day, just farming Paragon points to get the damage increase from your main stat...it makes me sort of not want to continue playing in the Season.

There are a lot of fun things to do, build you character, get the gear, improve the gear to Ancient, etc. Build a different type of character, repeat the gear process. But what is the end result? Even with its faults, the AH/RMAH gave you another purpose to play, because you never knew when you would find that hot item to sell. The Leader boards give you another reason to play, except after a week, if you haven't played 10 hours a day - what's the point? So you make a build that maximizes experience gain and you drearily farm experience. So that when you are ready, you farm the perfect GR to use a gimmick to try and progress.

Not rewarding game play for me. I'm curious if it is for others? Clearly the streamers and many others enjoy trying to beat out some sort of rank on the Leader boards, but is it really that rewarding? Does it make you awesome that you spend 70 hours or more a week playing this game, so you can say "I got to rank 1 because I have thousands of Paragon levels and spent days looking for the perfect GR to gimmick my way to the top!"

I hope that Blizzard runs the risk of pissing off their popular streamers, by putting a cap on Paragon levels for Seasons and for removing the snapshot gimmick from all classes and skills. Snap shot the dps and simply code so the dps increase ends across all instances of where it appears after the appropriate amount of time has passed.

So if you make it to rank 1 in a season, it's because you found great gear and used your skill and gear to make it to the top.

Why is everyone suggesting getting rid of paragon levels? If you can't progress higher then the game is dead. There just need to be some slight adjustments and we are all good. I've said it time and time again, but I'll repeat myself happily over here:
    • Remove bonus experience from group play.
    • Increase monster health in 3p and 4p games slightly.
    • Reduce main stat gain from paragon core after p800 to something lower, e.g. 2.
    • Try to bring the classes closer together again in terms of damage and solo viability.

posted a message on Get rid of seasons

Everybody wants D3 to be as closely to D2 as possible. Now that seasons are evolving and we are getting adequate seasons (which was THE ONLY mode serious D2 players ever played EVERRR), somebody is yelling they want to get rid of seasons :D

I am pleased to here that the majority of this thread is not your oppionion. You can have a personal oppionion how you like, but with every patch Blizzard is improving the seasonal experience and I like it. S1-3 where completely dumb, yes, but we are getting there. This is is how the game is meant to be played and how, I, a veteran player, enjoy it. If we veteran players and the more dedicated community is not playing, the game is dead.

So pleased to see lots of dedicated players sticking with the game. Even my semi-serious friends are playing the seasons and I finally have RL friends online everyday. This is better than ever.

You can fix the bugs with certain plans/items/gems not dropping by reinstalling the game. Don't know which specific game files effect it, so not sure if there's any easier ways.

That was probablly just a coincidence with more runs, reconnecting to the servers and waiting and doing yet another run. Nothing of the drops is tied to your local files ever. That would be paradise for cheaters.

    Quote from Thornagol»

Paragon helps, but it's not all that makes a difference. Sure you can see a big boost if you're paragon 1K+, but it's really rare for a legitimate player to get there in a season (especially solo).

There is lots of people who have legitimately reached Paragon 800/900/1000 in S4 already.

posted a message on where is the diablo player base ? the chats are empty !!!!

The regular chats have been dead forever, since Blizzard doesn't allow for enough people in it. If you want to chat with people and find games, I recommend a) playing season softcore and B) joining some communities and their respective chats. It is currently workday and the middle of the night over here and I see a chat message at least once per minute.

Leveling is easer, faster and more fun, if you own UEE. Playing "vanilla" is only an option for mad people and really really crazy special projects which make no sense.

posted a message on Please nerf healing monk

There will always be a best composition and a best support and a best build and a best in slot item. In any competitive game there will be a (hopefully evolving) meta and the meta will most likely (like almost always in like almost all games) not be very interesting or "fun". Diablo 3 is about efficiency. Climbing the ladder in D3 season is about efficiency and meta. If you are against those then you are either not meant for this kind of gameplay or you must accept that if you want to reach these hights, you have to sacrifice something.

This is not just true for D3, this can be applied to and has been in many other games. I for example have played MW:O and WOTLK competitevly in top 25 world corp/guild. There is also lots of fun ways to play MWO and to explore the WoW, but those are not the things you do when you aim for a leaderboard position. You do whatever is neccessary to climb and win. Even if that's reducing your other hobbies to 0, dancing naked on the street in a pink dress, skipping the gym, playing a build that isn't fun, creating a monk with lvl 60 gems which can not even solo clear a T1 rift.

If you refuse to play the meta (or come up with an adequate solution) you are not worthy of a leaderboard position imho. It is your choice how you play. Blizzard shouldn't make that choice for you. Suboptimal (aka not maximum efficiency) playstyles will yield less than 100% results. So don't complain about not achieving 100% results (aka top leaderboard positions) if you "only" play at 80% of what's possible, because you want to have "fun".

posted a message on Fix the lag
    Quote from Jamoose»

    *TL:DR at the bottom*

The game is currently almost unplayable in high greater rifts like 60+ or so and especially in groups of 4 players. I’m not sure if this is the case on all realms but at least on EU it is.

Some builds suffer very badly from this even in solo like the Helltooth WD for an example. Some people claim that if you have 0% area damage then you won't lag in solo but that's just a workaround and not a fix.

In the past, the argument against investing time into fixing this issue was the fact that only a very small percentage of the player base experienced it because it was only evident on high end greater rifts. But today, the lag starts occurring even on 60+ which is not considered that high anymore and i'm pretty sure that more and more people will get to that level and experience the horrible lag.

To the people that are rushing to post things like "no lag here lol noob", please understand that this issue is not always reproducible as it really depends on several factors like the time you play at, what build(s) you are running, the map layout / type you're at and the mob type you are facing. A possible solution to this problem would be to divide all the numbers in game by 100 and display them in the client as strings with added 0's just to keep the consistency.

TL:DR - The game lags horribly on high gr and a possible fix would be to simply divide all the damage and health points numbers in game by 100 so the server calculations, database queries and server-client traffic won’t be as heavy anymore.

    tl;dr you are wrong/misinformed.
The size of the numbers doesn't matter. The amount of numbers matter, e.g. how certain effects are calculated. Some culprits have already been identified, e.g. Helltooth+Acid Rain. This has been mentioned couple of times in the Reddit AMA.
