Itemization is completely irrelevant. You could do anything - absolutely anything at all - to the itemization system, and it would have zero effect on the problems with the AH. With millions of players and random loot, you will always be able to buy stuff on the AH which is better than anything you've ever found yourself, for a trivial amount of gold. Guaranteed. You can dick around with legendary drop rates or whatever you like. Fact is, whatever you find, there will be better stuff on the AH, selling cheap. It will destroy the gameplay of item-hunting. It is impossible for it not to - I see that now.Quote from yourgrandma
infinitely random loot - yea, you hit the nail right on the head therefunny thing was, when Josh resigned he did say afterwards that did AH was actually was a bad thing to begin with, but for some strange reason he never mentioned it was a 'necessary evil' due to their f@cked up itemization.

shaggy posted a message on "A" Dev did not know about lvling 0-60 in roughly 15 minutes...Posted in: Diablo III General Discussion
Even so, who actually cares if someone can level to *60* in 15 minutes? When RoS ships that will be the equivalent of being able to level to 55 in D2 in 15 minutes. WHOOP DEE FUCKIN DOO!Quote from Zero(pS)
Does it really matter if it can be done in 15 minutes or in 2 hours? Maybe
It's such a remarkable non-issue that I can't believe that anyone (on any other forum) would agree with this guy and get their panties in a wad. Ooooooh some dude can get to level 60 in 15 minutes. Shit! Call the cops. -

Zero(pS) posted a message on Why I am (not) buying the expansionSorry to see you go. Mostly because a lot of players believe that free form Trading is a staple of the franchise and will be leaving too. And what we need the least is more people "leaving".Posted in: Diablo III General Discussion
It's a shame in this specific case people can't have their cake and eat it too. The devs got heavily criticized (and in some cases, outright bullied, like Jay Wilson) for trying to make the Free Form Trading work. For 2 years they tried (crafted items, BoA materials, changes to items, etc.). But to the majority of the players, it simply didn't work.
I like Trading too, and I actually enjoyed the AH for the most part (it did more good than bad to my own playing experience), but I'm definitely willing to give it up if that's gonna make most of the playerbase's experience better. And you should too.
I hope to see players like you reconsider their stance on RoS. -

Bagstone posted a message on Developer Playtest with Wyatt Cheng (VOD)I haven't watched the summary, just the entire thing itself, and I can tell you that I was pretty relieved about how Wyatt answered things.Posted in: Diablo III General Discussion
1) He made it crystal clear that PvE > PvP and, although he was initially a huge advocate for PvP in D3, he admitted that the new legendaries and design decisions in RoS made it even more difficult to include PvP. So, you might have to wait significantly until PvP arrives.
2) He said that he's pretty happy with BoA and Archon and Jaetch also said that over time people will get used to it. In my opinion it's fine. I think it'd be nice if gold was tradeable, because I'm sure some of my friends will completely forget to bring even 10m into the expansion and they probably can't re-roll a lot of stuff because they'll be constantly broke... but other than that, BoA works only in favor for the original Diablo game experience.
3) Wyatt made HUGE disclaimers that the ideas he pitched were some of a few hundred ideas they discussed internally in brainstorming. Read again: just one out of hundreds of ideas. Nowhere did he say that would be something they'd implement. And seriously, this entire "RoS has no endgame" discussion is absolute nonsense. D3 is going back to its core with RoS and it's working out quite well, the most recent balancing changes made bounties and rifts enjoyable and rewarding. And in the long run we will see something like seasons, ladders, events for sure.
Yeah, if you want a game with free trading, PvP, and a focus on competition, don't wait for the next expansion. The development of RoS highlighted that this is not at all what anyone at Blizzard has in mind for Diablo, so you might just wanna move on and not build up anticipation towards features that will never come to the extent you would like to see them. -

RasAlgethi24 posted a message on Why the Barb and WOTB is getting nerfed for Reaper of SoulsPosted in: Diablo III General Discussion
You either are really dense or know nothing bout the game. Why does hota do more weapon damage than WW? WW has a much bigger AOE and hits faster than HoTA, so the skills are balanced. There are give and takes, if a skill hits harder its usually slower and/or hits a smaller area.Quote from helpme123
Exactly. Then why do you not preaching all skill give the same damage so people can choice? Why HOTA give 400+ while WW give like 150. Why bash give 165 and frenzy give 115? The whole balance speech is broken because the whole thing is off DPS. Because it is off DPS, of course, people will go with the skills give out the most DPS.Quote from knightofthorns
Because that choice makes every other choice obsolete; and it is not a "choice" anymore. If every other thing is equal, would you take the higher paying job or the lower one? Would you buy the more expensive car or the cheaper one? The same goes for the game. If a skill gives 10 dps and the other 1000, most people will use the one gives you 1000 dps.Quote from helpme123
That's what people want then let them play like that. Why do you preached choices but only allow the "choices" you approved?
Every wizard use living lighting as a primary skill because it is AoE and put out a lot of damage. Why don't you go nerf that so it hit 1 target like her other primary skill?
And living lightning doesnt do a lot of damage, people mainly use it for its proc rate. -

Bagstone posted a message on How to spend my money before the AH goes down1) No, all crafting materials will become obsolete as soon as you hit level 61 because there will be a new tier of crafting materials. Blizzard specifically said they don't want crafting materials to be carried over (roughly paraphrased).Posted in: Diablo III General Discussion
2) Don't spend a single gold coin on gems. Marquise gems drop in the expansion like Flawless Square do now. It'll all be wasted.
3) Yes, gear will be useless, and with MP7/8 gear you'll be able to level on Master (solo) for about 80% of act 5. You'll finish the rest on Expert and replace most of your gear within hours after buying RoS, and 100% after a couple of weeks.
There are only two things that carry over: 1) Paragon experience and 2) gold. However, paragon experience seems to be much easier to level once RoS hits, and gold will not be the limiting factor, but materials (most of them BoA) will be. So... just hold still and wait, don't spend any ridiculous amount of money now on anything. -

The damage per fury is a bit more than HotA with a larger radius. And it doesn't slow you down - moving while attacking is better than standing still while attacking. Maybe it doesn't suit your preferences and that's fine, that's how balanced skill choices are supposed to work. Demon Hunters are a squishier and more mobile class so it makes sense they would have the damage + speed advantage. Worst case scenario if the skill is a little bit weak, they'll buff the damage a little bit; it's not the end of the world.Quote from seraphim4
almost hoping you are a troll but it doesnt look like it so here goes
compare the dmg of whirlwind to the other skills in the same slot. the damage for the skill is much lower than rend, HoTA and seismic slam due to the ability providing the utility of being allowed to move while attacking.
now being able to move and attack at the same time is great, but in the barbs overall kit it isn´t really anything you need. it was op as hell with wrath yes, but without it? and without infinite fury?
what you have then is something that slows you down, doesn´t really kill anything all that fast and wastes alot of fury and has a medium sized aoe. all that on top of taking a precius skillslot.
and no i don´t feel its the reality for every other build in the game. i believe the demon hunter has a similair ability. difference is she gets to keep the 100% ms rune, has larger AoE and according to the numbers on live, it does more damage than ww (to lazy to dig for datamined info on a class i don´t intend to play so im going by live numbers on this since it is likely to be buffed to the same degree as ww dmgwise). -

Zek posted a message on Why the Barb and WOTB is getting nerfed for Reaper of SoulsWhirlwind's damage was increased from 145% to 275%. What was nerfed was the insane synergy of running at full speed while invincible and immune to crowd control and full on fury, killing things without even trying. What you call "useless" is simply the reality of what the game is like for every other build.Posted in: Diablo III General Discussion -

People seem to really have this concept messed up these days. A beta is not a demo. It's not about "checking the game out", despite what some streamers' attitude might suggest. It's about testing game features and providing feedback that will improve the experience for everyone (and not just the tester) once the game goes live. The Titanfall streams really show that - how confused and desperate (to try the "newest" product) players are nowadays.Quote from learn2voke
must of been a small wave of invites most people wont even know they have them kinda sad cuz people that really wanna check the game out before buying is just screwed
I guess it's the player-side plague of modern gaming, with things like "early access" and "always on alpha/beta" being the dev side of it. Players don't understand how software/games are developed, and developers don't want to commit to actually releasing games free of bugs or with very well thought out features, they just wanna get what's ready on people's hands.
I cringe when I think of the possibility of companies like Blizzard or Ubisoft following that path. I really do.And some recent games have shown signs of that .

The only reason I could see for people botting is to sell items on the RMAH, which is kind of scumbag thing to do, but whatever. It's up to you, but don't act like this will make the game better.
Just accept the fact that D3 gets boring every 30 or 40 hours. There's nothing wrong with taking a break from the game and doing something else. It's not a failing of the game and doesn't really give you some right to go ahead and exploit it with bots.
Though this is pretty funny.
Maybe a good approach to take is, when you start to feel like a bot... take a break!

Those guys have better gear than I do!

Anyway, these updates don't surprise me in the least. A lot of people seemed to forget that Blizzard patches things and that WoW 1.0 is nothing like WoW whatever.0, for better or worse. (Not that I want pandas in D3, lol.)
I just hope we get an expansion within a year from the PvP patch. I don't think that'd be too much to ask.
