posted a message on Funny Post in the Blizzard Forums Regarding Loot Changes
I find its one of those times that I would love a statistic from Blizzard that gave us an approximate % of the player base who are on the official forums. All we know is the sales in the first week (upwards of 7 million) for units sold.

Now thats people.... 7 MILLION people. Thats a lot of people. Thats more people in many cities around the world (and some cases some countries). Technically licences attached to individual Bnet accounts but i wont go there.

I also wonder how many people who complain to no end are still playing. Some will quit.. and to be fair many will quit eventually anyways. Namely because a new game came out. I love the comments of GW2 is going to kill D3.....ok, who cares. This is not a MMO with an active subscription.

I went back to D2 over the years cause I had a licence and didn't have to buy a new game. I am sure I will do the same with D3 as I have with SC/Broodwar, WC3, even WC2 to name a few titles.

Back on point though I like the game. I like the game better now (especially when playing with my wife who isn't as good in video games as me). Thats my opinion. I respect others opinions as well. I understand that people want a great game but the amount of insults and outright hatred toward blizzard from some posters is not warranted. Complaints are fine but the calls for employees to be fired or just yelling will never accomplish anything. You want to be heard, speak like a polite person who deserves to be listened to.

I hate to say this, as others have, but if you don't like the game, stop trying so desperately to want to like it. Find another, as there are plenty to choose from (that are very good). There are other ARPGs coming down the pipe from TL2 and cool RPGs like GW2. But if in todays market of video games if you got 20+ hours for your 60$ that is par for the course. And heck, come back in a month or 3 and give it another spin. Maybe changes will come that you enjoy.. or don't and you can uninstall it again.

I remember playing C&C 3 when it came out and beat the game in about 15-20 hours. I loved it, great. C&C 4 I bought at launch, played for about 3 hours... and well I don't play it anymore. I didn't like what they did. I moved on. There are other great games.

All this to say that if this wasn't "diablo 3" with the mountain of expectations, presumed features, the BLIZZARD logo attached and whatever other baggage I think reactions would be different. In fact I think people would just go "moving on".

All references to you and such are directed at no one in particullar. Insert standard disclaimer that you see in front of movies nowadays :D

    Quote from neplusultra1337

Get a couple of pieces of gear that add up to 5-6% damage converted to life and you negate all reflect DMG ( as it reflects 5% DMG )

please note that % damage to life is reduced by ALOT in inferno. I don't know where the percentages are but as has been mentioned on this forum and many others and by blues there is a reduction in nightmare, further reduction in hell and a massive reduction in inferno. Life on hit almost always scales better at this point in time.

posted a message on A question about +%damage weapon stat
IAS is as you can see the attack speed of the weapon is increased but it will go even higher as the rest of your IAS is counted once equipped. The reason for this is the attacks per second will go up on the weapon itself.

What? Missile dampening? Am I the only one that hasn't seen this affix before?
I saw it the first time after about 60 hours of play time (late inferno act 1 on my first char) so I think its safe to say that this one is extremely rare. It might be an inferno only affix, I dont know but I had still been farming the rare in a cave that is needed for some quest for many hours.

I saw missile dampening many times and as far back as nightmare. Cool affix really. The biggest thing is random is random. We tend to look for patterns where none exist. And if you take a large enough sample size you will always see an uneven distribution. Thats just the way it works in real life.

Also we don't know the algorithm for generating items. It could be a crap shoot or there could actually be higher % chance for some affixes. without Blizzard saying how it works we are just guessing.

posted a message on farming after 1.03 patch (end of the month ish)
wow wall of text. I did read all of it though.

I try and respond to all of it but it will be not in order.

    Repair bills:

They needed to go up. The whole point is to stop corpse runs of content you are just not ready for or at least have a penalty attached. As for it being to much gold well hopefully this will not have the effect of lowering the amount of gold in the economy and dropping prices in the AH.

Also with Perfect squares saving you almost 20k a craft... well it adds up fast.

In the end if you are dying to much it either means you need to farm an earlier area or change something (build, gear set-up, etc..). People are clearing the content. It is dooable but very very difficult sometimes (or downright run away!).

    Item Drops:

The main problem was the amount of higher level items dropping from monsters. I think it was quite evident that they were a little to low for the level 59-60 stuff and this should smooth some things out but it wont change THAT much. The only real change will be actually farming more champs/rares/uniques for rares after 5x NV and boss kill. Weather It makes us go backwards or forwards in the act... time will tell.

    Your DPS as a DH:

Its not that you suck. you are probably just gearing for the wrong things or arnt getting the gear. Diablo is about drops, you dont get them or cant afford them on AH... well... kill more and cross fingers. with some of the DHs breaking 50k in inferno often its really about your gear.

posted a message on Worried PvP will be 1 shotting
The biggest issue surrounding the PVP in this game is we don't have many concrete details on whats happening.

The only thing we can be sure of it will be fast and brutal. If its anything like the Blizcon PVP it will be fun though.

As for wether or not we will be one shotted, I think the major issue people need remember is the matchmaking system is looking at your gear as well as your "skill" to match players up "correctly", The people who are insanely geared may not get into matches right away or maybe just fighting the same people over and over again. We don't know. The nice thing that we can assume (well I hope we can) is a fresh 60 stepping into inferno shouldn't be going into a pvp fight with someone who is farming Act 3-4.

Also many people are looking at PvP through the PvM builds. PvP will be using a much different build set for most people me thinks (I am sure there will be cases where this isn't true but only time will tell).

posted a message on I'm confused, how do the hackers make money?
the items arnt the issue, its the gold. People buy the gold through 3rd party sites.

If its anything like wow more then likely they are either banning people who buy gold (and locking the compromised accounts) or removing the items purchased with the gold. so they can roll back the compromised accounts.

If there was no $$$ incentive for the hackers they wouldn't do it (at least on such a "large" scale).

posted a message on Account Banned WTF????
did you post things against the Blizzard ToS for their forums? At this point they are just suspending or banning people for not following the rules (which they normally do but right now its on overdrive) to try and keep something civil.

Just do what I do. Stay off the Blizz forums. Trying to have a normal topic thread over there is so hard its not funny.

    Quote from Dilbert

No no, this game is EXACTLY like wow. People spend more time complaining about it than actually playing it.

Probably the most accurate depiction of this question.

posted a message on Diablo 3 like WoW.. Wait what? I'm confused
What I find very strange is is why people care. WoW has a lot of influences (and influences I think is the right word) from Diablo why not the other way around. Good mechanics are good mechanics and if the game is all about loot... well then why are we playing these types of games in the first place. Hell in Dragon warrior I needed better loot but i had to grind gold for it....still want better gear to beat content.

posted a message on Confusion about Diablo 3 Weapons stats 2H vs 1h
if your looking at the DPS number. well the DPS is the same. damage range x attacks per second bla bla. You can find the formula on the wikis.

The key thing is that DPS isnt the end all and be all of a weapon (although it almost is....). What really matters is your build and how your gearing for the build. I prefer fast 1 handers and a source for my wiz. I love giant 2handers for my barb (but he isnt in inferno yet so who knows by then).

take many of the above posters advice and make a build and set up you ENJOY. cause frankly I find thats the best part of this game in the diversity of play style.

two handers are slower. from wow the attack speed is reversed. Diablo states attacks per second while wow is how many seconds per attack,

posted a message on D3: Unfinished. Blizzard dropped the ball.

I agree, with the fact about being ripped off I have gotten my moneys worth. And I agree Inferno is as advertised which is nice. But for me and a lot of other people the problem is they completely changed the game, and it just doesnt feel like "Diablo"

Also, once again im not accusing you of lying but a lot of people are talking about D2 release that really have no idea. You were able to play a fairly flawless single player game that was fully functioning, and while some of the uniques were trumped but other items most weren't.

Is this to say that D3 should be exactly like D2? No. Should they have changed it as much as they did? No. If they took out the continuing characters and "story" released it under a different name, no one would say "hey, this is just like diablo" <- there are actually quite a few games that you kill shit, hunt for items, and equip your character.

Feels like I got a super mario bros. 2 pulled on me. Its fun to play, but its not really super mario bros. 2

sorry for the dub post again.

The whole if they labeled d3 not d3 would we say its like diablo. Well most ARPGs tend to bring that vibe. I remember when i played borderlands the first time I thought "hey an fps version of Diablo"

Also it is a different development team and unless there is a directive thats says make a D3 exactly like D2 (or of course if Blizz North still existed), you arnt going to get the same game. I think 12 years is exactly that 12 years. very few games that last this long actually still feel the same. I think they nailed it with SC2 but even for companies that try to release "new" versions (think Zelda or Mario as you said) some don't feel like sequels (in Mario 2, a game i am so so with, it isnt even the real Mario 2 which is in English the Lost Levels)

I will put this thought out there however: "If the game finished at hell, would you be as pissed?"

I think its a valid question because inferno really is something insane when you honestly think about it for a minute. Not many game companies are even willing to put something like this out there for the masses to deal with as it is just so brutal and unforgiving.

Demon souls was nuts for some people when it came out, but for me that was learning a new system and a system where skill trumps all if your good enough.

I can't even think back to recent mainstream titles and to think of something this hard I have to really think back about 10 years or more. Doom 2 nightmare, X-com games on Insane, X-wing at hardest setting to name a few, and for me nothing trumps the X-Coms especially Terror from the Deep. There was a game that just didn't care and where you just lost most of the time with no chance for recovery after 20+ hours.
