I agree. I know there have been some posts about possible exploits with the individual loot drops, but I think there are far fewer cons than the alternative, especially when considering the challenge of the later levels. It may have been about a different topic, but i remember bashiok responding to a complaint about grouping by saying that if people go off on their own AT ALL in the later difficulties, either they will die, or their group will. lol. so i'm sort of assuming that if your char. isn't geared properly to survive and kill, you won't make it to the good loot drops anyway.
I like the idea of them being difficult to find. Obviously we're all over-excited at this point because we want the game, and everybody has build ideas and such, but imo I enjoy things being a little harder to find, especially when you consider the insane hours a lot of us are going to put into this game. If runes dropped like rares, and as the interview mentioned (admittedly theoretical) they attuned to skills, I think it would add some legs to the system, because you wouldn't just be able to run around for a few hours, farm all the runes you need for the build you want to run, and be off. It'd be a little more exciting when you found that alabaster rune you've been looking for to put into a specific skill. But as everyone has mentioned, I'll wait and see, and since they're smarter than I am, I bet their system works the best long term.
I apologize if this info is already out there, I just can't seem to find it, but I was wondering if we've gotten any information on what the drop rate will be like for runestones. Are we talking gems from D2, or more rare? Also, do we know if runestones can be sold in the AH? I have all these great plans for builds, and I can see myself getting into the game and finding 1 or 2 runes and having to make some tough decisions. The more I think about it, I might be ok with them being hard to find.
