i love the idea of an extra tier of items for the later acts of inferno. Personally i doubt i'll have the time/skill to get to the end of inferno myself, but i hope the difficulty is as epic as we've been led to believe it is, and in that case i think those that can clear it should be rewarded with gear that you can't get anywhere else... and then we can start bitching about chat avatars again so everyone can see how good you look.
the wife doesn't play games at all, but we both have rotating work schedules so i usually get at least a day a week when i can go nuts. might have to make an exception on may 16 though, we both have the day off, and she's shit out of luck if she thinks i'm spending the day with her (gotta work the 15th).
its a pretty cool 5 minutes. i thought the early ones were strange, bc they were all excited about being finished... 18 months ago. lol. but the %80 one got me nice and excited, because they seem to genuinely enjoy playing it. i still think the short stories are the best pre-release content so far.
- i think eventually the outcry for some type of ladder system will become overwhelming, and they will put it in when they realize not everyone is ok with the 'everybody gets a trophy' mentality, and a lot of players will want to see where they rank, for better or for worse. i don't think it even matters what the ladder tracks to be honest; people will vie for most zombies killed just as hard as they did for 1st to 99 in D2. In my opinion it takes almost nothing away from the game, because if you don't care about your ranking... well you don't care.
i think once i find something to do with myself i'll be happy with the no beta for two weeks. it will be nice to have it be a little fresher having not played it to death as i have been. Unfortunately, tuesday is a workday i can't get out of, so i'm planning on getting up a little early, (i think we get it here at 3am), dling the patch, and hopefully being able to get to some new post-SK content b4 work. i have wednesday off though, so once i'm home tuesday night, it's on for 24+ glorious hours. can't make any promises about my productivity levels tuesday or thursday.
If you are rushing the game, even if you aren't into breaking barrels or collecting gold when the game launches, try not to ignore big "barrel zones" with 10-12 barrels all together.
You can quickly break all of them with an AoE and essentially you're multiplying the chance of getting something for 12 when breaking those compared to breaking single barrels (kinda like having 1200% MF in D2?).
Also, gold stacks are pretty random as well. Even if you're not "wasting time collecting gold", you should try to not ignore the "big stacks" (early on, these are like 40-50 gold). It's not a big deal when you don't collect that 2 gold stack, but when it's a 40-50 one, you're missing up on a decent oportunity.
this. and also, might be random, but villagers' corpses drop significantly more gold in my experience than say individual barrels. Also, get rings! it's amazing to me to still see people playing beta that aren't wearing rings from the fence. you can instantly add about 10 dps at lvl 6, not to mention +xp and +GF/MF. they are a huge early level boost.
i can understand how the more hardcore players miss the permanence of their builds, but for someone like myself who doesn't have the time to constantly reroll characters, i love how flexible the new system is. it's great to find, for example, a great 2H sword for my barb, and be able to switch my skills around to benefit from the better/different stats on that weapon. and once you do that, the char plays totally different, imo keeping the gameplay very fresh. and that's only with 4 skills at a time, a fraction of the skills/runes, no legendary/set items, or socketable items, etc... There will be plenty of customization.
lol, that's how out of left field that pick was. he had better turn into randy moss, or they're going to look stupid not taking stephen hill. i was in shock when my pats not only used their picks, but moved UP for once. top five sports night of the year imo, right up there w/ superbowl and champs league final.
I can't believe that they wouldn't just reshoot some new dev. diaries from this year. Im behind the way blizz makes games, and i don't mind waiting, but i'm sort of embarrassed for them watching jay get excited as 'the game comes together'... a year before the game comes together. regier is going to be tying his shoes with his diableard by the time we get to %90. i just can't figure out why they wouldn't reshoot a new interview, asking them all the same questions. underwhelmed again, i'd take a short gameplay clip over these so far.
I think HC is definitely more 'worthy' than SC chars, that's the whole point of playing HC. i think there should be different stuff for the HC chars, but i don't think they should outclass the SC gear, just be different. i'd be fine with just a cosmetic change, it'd be cool if some badass-looking gear was HC only, so when they die in inferno they will look good forever in the halls of the dead or whatever it's called.
i know it's unofficial, but in the patch 15 update notes for the AH, i noticed "Damage_Percent_Bonus_Vs_Elites - Bonus vs Elites". This is a pretty unique and specific bonus for an item to have, and when combined with some of the new elite/champion skills like waller and vortex, it looks like blizz got pretty creative with their affixes. i'm excited to see how much new stuff they came up with. Any thoughts about items with added damage for specific monster types, or guesses at other strange affixes?
how about this one... like many here, i've tried everything to get into the beta... and, thanks to rhykker's post, i finally get in through the game front contest. so i excitedly fire it up, play for about an hour... and my laptop melts.the.f***.down. i knew i was on borrowed time playing games on a laptop that's a glorified netbook, but really? right at my moment of beta triumph? needless to say i'm scrambling now to upgrade a desktop i've had lying around for a while. im really only building it to play this game, and i don't have gamer pc funds allocated, but i think this should get me by for next to nothing $.. also, do i add the cost of these parts to my total for "i just want to get out of the RMAH my investment in the game" ? lol.
