First off, I'm a Christian, but with a very open mind. Perhaps so open that one may think I don't believe in God or a god which will make me either an Atheist or an Agnostic. I'll sway more in the directions of an Agnostic if I have to choose. I for one believe in Evolution; I may not have any knowledge in this field but my logic dictates that Evolution is the only way man came to be where it is today. I'm a science man. Facts trumps beliefs (for me that is). If there's good evidence that evolution exists or that the earth is >6000 years old I'll believe it regardless of what the Bible says.

I didn't have Biology in school so I have no clue whether they were taught about Evolution or Creationism (I'll actually have to ask some of my friends some time). Also, here in South Africa we're not big on the Evolution/Creationism arguing.

Anyway I don't know how or what they teach in American schools, but I'll have to think it's kind of a big thing USA (I've numerously seen news about the Evolution/Creationism in schools dilemma; that which I can remember). You'll never be able to satisfy both parties when it comes to an topic like this. There will ALWAYS be a problem/angry mob of old Christian pensioners. How are this handled in American schools? (Not rethorical).

But as the others said, I don't mind what people believe in or not believe in.

@Rethical - Only a few? Here it's either all or none when it comes to changes in our schools, since our grade 12 learners have a national examination at the end of the year. Maybe it's because it's almost the supposed end of the world and the English government want to mend their ways before the big apocalypse so they can get as many of them into Heaven...and they are starting in schools with Creationism! :Thumbs Up: Meh I don't know what else to say.

    Quote from VegasRage

I don't mind teaching the consideration that an amorphic intelligence is possibly behind all of creation which could be defined as God. Creationism however is specifically an ultra conservative Christian attempt to inject specifically Christianity into the classroom. Really just bizarre stuff, and I know some really nice people who are friends who completely believe the earth is 6000 years old O_O

They will tell you carbon dating is inaccurate (although they can't say exactly how it is) and believe all of the recent discoveries of early homosapiens dating 160,000 and now even 400,000 years ago are hoaxes or flat out wrong. They believe dinosaurs and man peacefully coexisted in the garden of Eden before Eve egged Adam into getting some forbidden knowledge. If you question them what carnivores did with there claws and teeth during that period the conversation become more ridiculous, like oh they picked fruit and ate grass.

Again I like these people, but I really do have to concentrate just to keep a straight face when they begin to talk about the origins of the universe.

You should read this article. This discovery could mean that everything we thought we knew about the birth of planets is wrong. It's quite interesting! No evidence though, so still takes hundreds of thousands or millions of years for planets to form.

That's one thing about narrow minded religious people (mostly Christians). They will stick with their beliefs or what the Bible says even when they are presented with contradicting facts. This can be good though, because they are faithful in whatever their believes are. But it can also be bad, not being prone to accept new ideas in general (not just religious).

    Quote from Daemaro

    I laughed. Nice. :D

I have nothing but respect for people's beliefs, I'm not even sure what I believe exactly myself, but I don't remember any mentions of dinosaurs in the bible.

Could you imagine them trying to take Jesus to crucifixion when he's riding his triceratops around?

Passion of the Christ would have been wayyy better with raptors and t-rexes.

LOL! Yeah I'm at that moment in life where I don't know what to believe anymore. And I blame the internet. With free speech anyone can write a convincing argument for the existence of God/a god or against it and people will believe the most recent one (not really, but through personal experience my mind has swayed to both ends of that argument.)

Yeah!! BUT, I have a Battlefield 3 clan match at 20h00 and will last till 22h00 at the latest. I'll go online after that sometime. My character is to weak for Act 2 atm, unless yours is totally OP and can fill the gap that my character doesn't!

Just found my first 1000 DPS+ weapon :Thumbs Up: :

My next question is whether I must use it (maybe it's just excitement that I got this axe!)...the only advantage of the axe is that it's a huge damage increase. Since it has no +strength attribute, it will not be that sought after as an barbarian. Since it has +Dex and +Vit it quite a good Monk weapon I think.

But then again with my fist weapon and shield, I get a lot of life on hit with Fists of Thunder (fastest spirit generator), armour and resistances...maybe I should play with it and see if it works...no? Also how much will this go for on the gold AH? The most I got for any item was 85k so I have no idea of higher end weapons. Thanks

    Edit: Also my build: http://eu.battle.net...YVXQ!XYU!aZccba
I haven't seen any people with this kind of build but I like it. I'm saying it now, I'm probably not gonna replace Exploding Palm, cause I like it but know very little people use it in Inferno. I can maybe replace Lashing Tail Kick with something else, but I use it in tight situations when I'm surrounded to knock enemies back and be able to escape.

Edit 2: I used this build most of Hell and all of Inferno, so I'm used to it!

Actually it was a pretty dull visit. The only thing hectic about it was that I had to drive back this morning for work, and not being home to sort out more clothes. LOL!

Since we had a great weekend last weekend, I have to drive all over tonight, and this weekend will be busy, we decided to keep our fourth of July visit very chill. Just watched some True Blood and Psych, and had friends over to play "You Don't Know Jack" on Wii. Turns out, I really don't know jack. :P
I don't know Jack either, but here's to a more exciting next time.

I have friend named Jack; does that count?!?!

PS No I don't have a friend called Jack.

    Quote from VegasRage

I was a bit disappointed being so vulnerable in boss fights, the ease in which you can be killed in Nightmare mode I didn't expect until Hell mode, more like D2 was. I also didn't expect to have to fire endlessly on them while unleashing numbered key skills simultaneously, which unfortunately is needed all too often. I don't mind stick and move, but WTF?! Stick and run for your life from multiple bosses with the speed and killing power of D1's the butcher is total unenjoyably bull shit.

I think you're just used to playing the far easier Normal difficulty with all 5 classes by now. I actually didn't realise how easy the bosses kill you in Nightmare and onward tbh...maybe because I always dodged their attacks; dunno.

One thing in Inferno (don't know about Nighmare/Hell, played that long ago) is that the normal mobs' difficulty compared to elite packs are soooo huge, that you sometimes don't know how to adjust your playing style.

    Quote from VegasRage

I think the final straw I put up with for a while but am now just tired of is when these mini-bosses laydown spinning laser like arcane power. This is where D3 crosses the border into 80's arcade like games, where it's no longer a battle but rather a test of computer mouse and keyboard hand eye coordination skill. If that's what it's going to be like from Nightmare mode on up, I might as well go out and buy a joystick controller and play Pac-Man music really loud on my headphones. What I always enjoyed about Diablo was it was a somewhat believable science fiction adventure. Spinning pink arcane lasers from scruffy packs of dogs goes over the top into the realm of the completely ridiculous.

I haven't really thought about it like that, I guess it don't bother me at all. But it does feel like they just added the spinning arcane lazer thing to make the game more difficult without thinking about how that affix actually look like in a dark action RPG game about hellish minions...

But I'll recommend playing further, the game really do become more epic in Nightmare/Hell/Inferno.

    Quote from Deathkiss

The enrage timers are a gear check though, and that I don't care for. Just, if your DPS isn't high enough, they eventually go into a mode that will almost certailnly kill you if you have to stand up to it more than 20 seconds. LOL!

What are these enrage timers everyone talks about? I haven't seen/heard of it in the actual game before...or do i just not see it?

    Quote from FredrikHimself

You know what I love about people in-game D3?
How they complain about how much the AH ruins the game. When I see someone typing it, I just tell them to stay off that god forsaken thing. That is when the rage-fest begins, and they say that "F no, I need to use it to progress".

Newsflash buddies; Try to farm. That is how you get items. Diablo has always been a hack&slash grindfest, and still is. Thing is, people seem to have forgotten that with the addition of the AH. It's sad, really.

I'm in A3 Inferno, and i haven't bought a single piece off the AH and I'm doing fine. Progress if slow but steady.

Well I agree that the AH ruined the game tbh. Yes you don't have to buy items on the AH, but farming the same act over and over again is tedious and unsatisfying, since the game is almost exactly the same each time (unlike D2, where even the outside areas were random). But I only bought an 670 DPS fist weapon from the AH cause I just didn't find any one handed weapon better than my previous one.Even now in Act 2 Inferno, I haven't found a better weapon than that one I bought.

After finishing Hell act 4 and going into Inferno, I was really demolished by elite packs, so I farmed/played Hell Act 4 like four or five times and and just got so bored playing that same Act over and over again...I did indeed find some items which actually made my character stronger, but not by much.

If D3 were more random, farming will be so much more fun! And unfortunately, random events in a static area just doesn't cut it for me. I took a hiatus from playing 1 or 2 weeks ago and started playing again yesterday and actually finished Act 1 with ease. Also it really help playing co-op.

In my post I was referring to your clearly avid, bordering on geeky knowledge of current particle physics as disdinctly not Lame. In fact my intention was to imply excitment in the same vain as you so clearly showed.

In hindsight I should have enchanced my post to clarify that I did indeed share your enthusiasm for this subject and corroborated your statement with equal geeky and obsessive detail. I apologies profusley for causing a situation in which I appear to be condescending towards you.

In light of this unfortunate misunderstanding, I debase myself before you and wish for a mutual disclosure in which we both agree, that particle physics kicks butt, and that this recent discovery is a great joy.

You sir are indeed not lame.

Haha. Like a sir, you talk (a Yoda Sir  [lame :troll: ]). I can't talk like you just did, since English isn't my home/first language...but I'll try to keep at this butt kicking way of speaking whilst on this topic. You should also note that I and many alike may have an avid quest to gain knowledge of new things, especially in the scientific field. However, that's where my knowledge of this topic unfortunately ends. I just know the stuff I read in that articles (what I can remember after a fourteenth of a fortnight).

Anywaysies, your joyously, butt kickingly, particle physics mutual discloser is granted! This discovery is indeed one for the so called books.

its a great day guys, this is history, this is what scientists have been studying for decades

    wooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay

Peter Higgs must be the happiest man on the planet, along with the other amazing people & ofc the legend Prof Brian Cox

    http://www.bbc.co.uk.../world-18702455

Cool right!!!!! Also read about this, this afternoon. Don't really know why they call it the "God Particle"...some idiots will think that they proved God's existence or can with this new particle or something along those lines...lol.

Peter Higgs will win a Nobel Prize for this discovery, no doubt about it. If not now, definitely within the next couple of years, since it's not 100% proved that it's in fact the Higgs Boson particle; just that it's "a new" particle. The theoretical properties of the particle, like the spin value (1, 2) has to 0 and this haven't been confirmed yet, only that this particle has a mass of 125.3±0.6 gigaelectronvolts, which is what the Higgs Boson particle supposedly weigh. Don't really know what the spin value is, so go read those links.

Anyway, hope they make new discoveries soon, the future can only be bright ahead!

PS Do you remember my post less than a week ago?!?! We were talking about teleportation, time/space travel, speed of light etc. and I asked what the next big scientific breakthrough will be....just feels cool that after I started thinking about science again (after a long absence) less than a week ago, they actually made one of the biggest scientific breakthroughs in our history!! :monk:

    Quote from Nacho_ijp

Say whatever you want about Einstein, but he killed space exploration in one relativistic blow with the speed of light limit... if someone finds a way to overcome that limit, then space exploration will get more interesting in just a few years

Lol do you guys remember that incident last year Sep when scientists at CERN "discovered" Neutrinos that travelled faster than the speed of light? (Link). Apparently the neutrinos travelled 60 nanoseconds (60x10^-9 seconds) faster then the speed of light would have from CERN (Switzerland) to INFN (Italy). I haven't thought about it till now to check if they disproved it by now, but it seems like they officially announced their mistake earlier this month.

Fun fact: One nanosecond is to one second as one second is to 31.7 years. So 60 nanoseconds is to one 60 seconds as 60 seconds is to 1902 years. (I hope this is right :fret: ). So that just put it in perspective how little difference there actually was in the results. So theoretically, if this was true, we (neutrinos) can travel in time, which will be awesome.

I wonder what the net big scientific breakthrough will be...I hope it's time travel or teleportation.

    Quote from proletaria

Teleportataion would be preferable to me. I don't like to travel that much, but I enjoy being at my destination.

Lol yeah. "Just close your eyes sir, it will only take a sec." That's what I think the teleportation stuardress in the future will say before you teleport to your destination.

The thing about teleportation, that many people don't really know about, is that you don't just go from point A to point B. Well yes you do, but what happens between point A and B is what really is gonna make teleportation difficult.

Your whole body's molecular structure will need to be broken down, your body's info will need to be send to point B and then with your body's info, get reconstructed at point B with pinpoint precision. So we'll have to build a machine that's able to replicate the human body's molecular structure 100% correctly before we can successfully use teleportation.
