posted a message on I cant wait til they nerf it abit to make it easy
Not to sound like a cliche, but the content doesn't need to be nerfed, we the players, (me, you, everyone having problems) need to learn to play. I'm not saying this to be rude, what I mean by it is, we need to learn the specs that work, how best to itemize characters and just simple skill at getting better that comes along with playing the game.

posted a message on What's the best way to itemize for survivability for the WD?
On my WD, I managed Act I Inferno relatively well. Act II I died way too much for comfort, where regular monsters will 2-3 shot me and elites essentially 1 shot me. Act III is the same.

I think I just built my character wrong, I focused on high INT, VIT with decent armor but it's not even close to where I need to be. I'm thinking now that I need to focus on those 3; INT, VIT, Armor as well as + all resists? Then use a shield and run with survival passives? Because I'm just tired of dying over and over.

Right now I have about 39,000 health, approx 230 to all resists (this seems to be my weakest point) and about 3900 armor (because WD's don't get near armor passives like the barb and monk, or amazing armor spells like the Wizard). When I equip my shield, I have over 5200 armor and 40,000 health, which seems pretty good for a caster but it just doesn't help.

Will + all resists fix my problems or am I missing something here? Any suggestions on players actively farming Acts III and IV Inferno would be appreciated.

What I really need to do is get better defensive gear without sacrificing too much damage. I just tried the beginning of Act III and everything just obliterates me. Of course, Act II wasn't much different.

    Thanks.

As for P3 being the easiest, I have to disagree. It's just the most controlled, but dodging and predicting some of those attacks are not entirely easy. P1 and P2 are a joke for me though. Since Belial himself isn't immune to hex, and jinx rune makes hexed targets take 20% more damage, along with popping Fetish Army and Big Bad Voodoo, he goes down like a 20 dollar whore. Super easy. P3 gave me the most trouble just learning his patterns and then dying to attacks that I was sure I shouldn't have been hit by but was.

Took a few days but I finally figured out a method that works. After that it was just a matter of getting a perfect run (because he pretty much one shots me in Phase 3 with every attack he does). After approx 120,000 gold in repairs and countless attempts, finally beat the bastard.

I know it's a bit late since people have already managed to beat Diablo on Inferno, but I'm quite proud of myself so I figured I'd post it here. :)

A lottery is fair because it gives the same chances to everyone that enters. A lottery doesn't become unfair just because it gives a reward out to people that win but not to everyone that entered. Could Blizzard have given it out to everyone? Sure. Could they have done open beta too? Sure. Is it unfair, or is anyone cheated out of a reward? Nope.

That's a lottery. The beta in of itself was a lottery, I'll give you that much. However, once the game goes retail, it's no longer a lottery and that philosophy holds very little water. I simply disagree with the idea of in game rewards being handed out via lottery, it seems wrong to me. Once the game launches, people that buy it should be able to obtain the rewards within the game.

That being said, some of the rewards are catered more towards fans than others. Obviously, people that aren't fans of the game won't be able to obtain the class sigils. However, those people are much less likely to even care because, well, they aren't fans. However, the people that are fans of the game and do care about the cosmetic benefits of the game should be able to at least choose whether they go after that benefit or not. Unfortunately, with the beta rewards, that's not longer the case.

What you are saying is not fundamentally incorrect. It's just a different opinion. My opinion is that fans (anybody really) that followed the game should have access to the same rewards without having to rely on blind luck. It's obvious that you disagree and think luck should be rewarded and that's fine I suppose. I just don't agree with it.

How can you honestly sit there and type that? There's hundreds of thousands of people that wanted into the closed beta that didn't get in. No matter how much they tried, regardless of the competitions they participated in, no matter what they could have done, it was out of their hands. They didn't not have 'direct' control and barely even had a means of influencing the randomization.

They had control over it just like everyone else. They had the same odds as everyone else. You had to choose to do drawings, captions, cartoons, tweets, sign-up lists, photoshops and all the other myraid of things. Just because they weren't guaranteed a reward doesn't mean they had zero control.

You have to play to win.

There's a difference between having control over obtaining a reward and relying on dumb luck and hoping you get one. I also clearly stated that they could influence their odds (albeit only every so slightly), but ultimately it was still out of their control whether they got in or not.

But why is someone entilted to something just because they are a Fan?

It's not that they should be entitled because they are a fan. That's not the point. It's rather that people should be able to have direct influence over the in game rewards they receive. I can respect fans that don't care about and choose to not go after the rewards. However, the few that want said rewards but have no means of obtaining them regardless of how much they may want them, that's what bothers me and that's what I'm debating.

To everyone following the game, it was well within their own individual power to obtain the class sigils. If they missed out on them, nobody is at fault but themselves.

However, to everyone following the game, beta invites were outside of their personal power to influence. To the fans of the game, you fell into 2 categories. Those with beta invites and those without. You could help tilt the scales in your favor ever so slightly by participating in fansite contests and events, but ultimately the beta handouts were completely random and out of the fan's hands.

That's the difference between the 2. In one category, fans had direct control over whether they get their reward or not. In the other category, fans had very little to no control whatsoever.

I don't know how much of a difference this would have made, but I feel that a lot of this backlash could have been avoided if we were properly informed from the beginning of the beta that a FoS and exclusive Sigil would be awarded to those lucky enough to get into the beta.

They could have advertised it like, "Opt in for a chance to get in the beta. Those that get in will receive a sigil and Feat of Strength for participating, so be sure to visit our various fansites and participate in their contests to increase your chances of getting in! Good luck everyone!"

I think things could have been handled better is all. Had we known about this from the very beginning instead of them springing it on everyone less than a week before launch, individuals may feel differently about how things turned out. Maybe? I dunno.

    Okay, I'll chime in here.

I was accepted into the closed beta, so I'm getting the feat of strength and the sigil. That being said, I'm very surprised by this move by Blizzard.

When I got my beta invite late 2011, I was so stoked. I was fortunate enough to be one of the few chosen before they sent out the mass 100,000 and 250,000 invites and was able to play the beta for quite literally months. To me, that was reward enough and I did not expect anything else. To my knowledge, Blizzard has NEVER given out a cosmetic award for participating in ANY OTHER BETA (though I'll admit, I could be mistaken).

So, I'm quite surprised by this move by Blizzard. I can't exactly complain because I was lucky enough to be chosen to participate. Not only did I get to taste the game several months before most, I'm also getting special recognition for doing so. However, a friend of mine was invited during their 100,000 player invite. He quite literally logged on once, essentially told me he after playing that he's more excited for Torchlight 2, then never played again. The fact that someone like him is getting special recognition when others never got the chance does irritate me. The fact that people that literally never even so much as downloaded the client or logged in are getting rewarded when people that would have loved to participate, let alone receive a reward, are getting the shaft. That bugs me.

I definitely sympathize with those that are upset. At this point, I can only count my blessings and be thankful that I was one of the lucky ones. I love this game and I'm more excited about it than any other game since probably Final Fantasy VII. However, just because I got lucky doesn't make it suck any less for those that weren't.

posted a message on The Current Least Popular Class?
Yeah, according to multiple polls done by Bashiok, the WD came up short each time. Granted thousands of people will play him at launch, he'll likely be the least played class in the beginning.

That being said, I think once the game's been out for a while and is well established, the popularity of the WD will grow. When people see what he's capable of and the combos he can pull off that other classes can't (or at least pull them off in his own unique way), not to mention the badassery of his gear set aesthetics, he'll become much more accepted universally.

The WD will also be my starting class, though I fully intend to have a level 60 of every class. The WD will simply be my first.

That soulstone flash drive looks black in the video but the previews on the official site show it red. I think I'd rather have a red one myself but black is cool too.

posted a message on Am I the only one not rolling WD because they're silly?
The WD will be my first class. I can understand why people think they would be silly but that doesn't dictate whether I'd play a class or not. It's whether or not they're fun that dictates what I play. I pretty much decided on the WD based around the classes my friends and family decided to play. The group I play with most of the time will be monk, barbarian, DH and me as a WD. So, in the beta I played more WD than any other class and I can honestly say I loved it!
