Even if he's being 100% honest, he's just talking about not announcing anything today. Some of their Diablo panels are also Wednesday. There's also the possibility that Jay might not be the one that will announce the date.

If you look at the release notes for all the classes, almost all the changes for every class was a lowering of damage. It was much rarer for anything to be getting stronger... How could we possibly know what is and isn't viable from seeing the game on normal up to level 13? I just don't understand the notion of this thread.

posted a message on Grouping & Magic Find
I think the idea behind cooperative play is that you're working together. Therefore you're supposed to be "sharing" and helping one another. Everyone already gets all of their own drops, I don't see how it's a problem to average the MF if everyone is going to have MF and offensive stats, because that means most people's MF would already be similar unless they are deliberately going for MF and nothing else.

To me this is also a very eloquent solution to prevent people from leeching off of other people. Now instead of getting all the benefits for themselves, they will be giving the other players more magic find while having less than if they just played the game for themselves.

My guess would be that just like how in Diablo 2 you could see your lowered resistances reflected in your character window, you will see the effective duration for the difficulty you are on in the tooltip, assuming that it works that way. I believe the duration times are all green, meaning they can be effected and changed by things, are they not?

posted a message on Playing Diablo III With a Controller
If you are using a non-standard mouse with 4 buttons in addition to the left and right mouse clicking, and then complaining about not using both hands, then you're the one to blame for your situation though. If not, then everything is fine with using one hand.

My point about a mouse only was that in order for you to play the game with only one hand, you have to be deliberately making it such through one way or another. It's not just that this game was designed to use one hand so the controller is the answer...

posted a message on Site using way too many resources
The site does cause flash player and some other things to lock up momentarily when it is loading. It was not an issue before they switched to this new layout, and I had been hoping they were going to be fixing it soon... along with the broken forums and all the other issues.

If a person is not using one hand/the keyboard that would suggest to me that the person is clicking all their skills with the mouse in order to use them... while I can see that being possible in the beta, I can't imagine that being a reasonable way to do anything even remotely difficult in this type of game.

While I think it's cool that some people have found unique input methods to play the game with (I've always thought that maybe I should learn to use a trackball for games, for instance) I really doubt that the reasoning behind it (only using one hand) will really be an issue once there is even the slightest chance of being killed by things.

In the beta as it is right now, my DH can stun him until he dies by herself, but of course she has good items and is level 13. That said, I'm sure that the duration of CC will be reduced both based on the tier of monster that something is as well as difficulty. I can't imagine that on Inferno, all your CCs will still be effective for the full duration.. even if only because of the fact the monsters will be higher level than you are.

Either way, it's cheesy but I seriously doubt that Blizzard's internal testing would be so horrible as to not notice this as being an issue. I assume they will scale CCs a lot by the time you are in the end-game.

My greatest fear is that it will be the best game that mankind has or ever will create, and that I will die as it finishes installing.

I don't think any sane company would push back a release date simply because it was leaked.

Especially not one that has been so long in development, and has had so many "leaks" in the past that it's hard to take anything seriously unless it's actually from Blizzard officially.

.o0 wow games are released on thursdays all the time, people seem to forget so fast =P

In the US they are released on Tuesdays.

sorry sir, but I live in the US, wow games have been released on thursday, blizzards all crazy like that

Yes, most games do come out on Tuesday, but a number of recent Blizzard titles WOTLK came out on Thursday. The chances of it being any other day of the week is probably very low however.. They like to release things on people's paydays.

posted a message on I hope blizz put this UI :(
Bottom line is that the new skill UI is designed for people that don't like to have to think when they are playing a game. Yes, many people hate thinking about anything. That's why there are no numbers in the skill tooltips by default, as well. Seeing numbers makes people have to think about things. For people that like to just sit there and auto-pilot through a game, this UI is great, and they are most likely a vast majority. Likely almost exactly the same level as people that only play through on normal with one character.

Nice to see this, and it's nice that you're already working on tools on your site for such things. Of course, as said, these things might not have a massive amount of in game applications (especially in beta), but understanding a game's system is the best way to optimize your use of it, right? :)
