I love 'playing' the AH in WoW and look forward to (what I hope will be) trying an improved version for Diablo. I am genuinely excited to see how this aspect plays out.

And the way my friend and I play tends to be to run one main character through the game and then work on several more based on what gear drops.Posted in: News
Maybe that means he runs a wizard with my barbarian the first time through - then I inherit his unwanted runes for my wizard...
I can see this working. -

No it WON'T. You're assuming everyone behaves rationally, like counting machines. You're assuming everyone will exchange currencies immediately like some HFT software. Human beings are not pure theory executors, and the system in practice will be many orders of magnitude more complex than you and Phrozen are making it out to be.
Hopefully this isn't too much of a tangent. What if instead of two AH markets the exchange rate is "fixed"? What if the exchange rate is constantly up-to-date? I have no idea if it is practical but if the AH allows bids in gold and cash interchangeably, would that solve your frustration?
Obviously, that is a rather large hypothetical. -
Aug 2, 2011Elpenor posted a message on The Auction House ExplainedAm I right in assuming the D3 market will be similar in size (number of users) to a high population WoW server?Posted in: News
Size does matter. And how large the market is will have an impact on how hard it will be to manipulate. -

Much like an earlier poster who talked about WoW's "auction-pvp", there are some of us who will use the AH in D3 for the fun of it. I will play the game to kill mobs, hell yeah! but I will also get a TON of mileage out of that evil "Market Manipulation".
I 'know a guy' who bought a truck and two jetskiis by selling WoW gold. There it was illicit and against the EULA but.... Here in D3 it will be sanctioned and will support Blizzard.
ETA: You just posted again so this is in reply to your page 5 post. -

I'll try default and how it work, if I'm not satisfied I'll switch back to classic.
I am thinking of using default to start and moving to toggle if default doesn't work. I dislike classic. -

As I am undecided, what draws you to the monk?

I have a 10 year old mid-atx case with a 750W psu. Current motherboard is an ASUS M2N-E SLI, 3 gigs of 240pin DDR2 800 ram (one stick worked just long enough to get itself out of warranty) and the CPU is an AMD Athlon 64 X2 Windsor 3000. Monitor is fine, optical drive is fine, hard drives should be fine, OS has one more install on the three-seat license (7 Ultimate). Copy-paste of my GPU is: 2 x ASUS EN7300GT SILENT/HTD/512M GeForce 7300GT 512MB 128-bit GDDR2 PCI Express x16 SLI.
Given this setup and the theoretical budget, would you build a new box or just upgrade? Primary use is gaming, RTS/FPS and D3 (of course!) - it was rebuilt for WoW 3.0. Secondary use would be the rare video encoding, GIMPing photos, watching movies, office-style work.
ETA: I have built about 6 machines if you count rebuilds of this one (on my 4th mobo setup), so I am fully sold on your concept.

I agree. I can't see there NOT being a voice chat included - and that people will opt out of it. That being said, the few times I used the Blizzard voice chat in WoW (a year or so ago in a 5man), I had no complaints vs Vent/TS/Mumble.

This seem to be an appropriate philosophy.

If that is the case, I would look for it in the shiny packaging, not before release. ....Although I could also see a Blizzcon favor.

I must have missed this piece of the puzzle - when did this get revealed?

However, if the friend I expect to be playing alongside backs out, I might switch to Barb/Scoundrel.
