I think that's what it means. It makes sense, armor isn't usually made out of a single material, and there are only so many materials possible. I guess we'll just get names based on the sturdiness (DR) of the armor.

3 hour lecture and 3 hours for your favorite game are two entirely different things. A boring 3 hour lecture may seem like forever while 3 hours of your fave game could pass so fast that you will go all "it's over already?!" on yourself.
True, but I just mean that in three hours a massive amount of material can be covered. In fact I'm sure that if they added an other couple of hours, it would get boring. You can only say so much about an unreleased, unfinished game.

Three hours is a massive amount of time. Did you ever sit through a three hour lecture? The amount of course pages that can be covered in that time is mind boggling. But as said, much will depend on their willingness to actually respond to questions. I'm confident that they didn't call it Diablo's biggest Blizzcon without any good reason though.

In D2 actually the leather armor is the only one named after the actual material it's made of (if I recall correctly...) so this doesn't have to imply a major change.

I guess those claws will be purely defensive though.. to parry blows to the hand. It would be too weird if the armor acts like a weapon.

That's some pretty sweet stuff. I made a water elevator all the way from the bedrock to the clouds. Then I tried to turn it into a water slide, but I got annoyed, water behaves so unpredictably, boats keep crashing,... bleh.

foca, I've seen people (youtubers) share save files, so yes it should be possible to share worlds.. possibly only single player though.

At first I was a bit disappointed, but actually it's quite awesome, if this is just regular leather armor!

I don't know... is there no way they could still improve graphics before release? After all most footage is already many years old.

posted a message on D3's Wizard is ASIAN!?!
He looks a lot like the protagonist of many a Chinese movie.. Definitely looks Asian.

Also, while I agree that they kind of create their own races and it's impossible to describe 'the' african and 'the' asian to begin with, we have to keep in mind that certain features are just way too characteristic for certain races/areas to ignore:

    - If you give a character a fair skin and light hair, it's gonna look European, even if it has a wide nose.
    - Dark hair, fair skin and 'squinty' eyes: it will look Asian, no matter what its other features are.
    - Half dark skin (light brown) and dark hair: North African, Middle Eastern, Indian... (this is the most varied category, to distinguish between them other features, such as dress, or more subtle differences in skin tone, come into play).
    - Dark hair, dark skin: African.

But how do you know what the best textures will look like in the finished product? Will there be any other similar (non blizz) game which manages to present better quality graphics? I don't think the best settings will be much lower than what the average computer specifically built for gaming can handle smoothly.

posted a message on Virtually no "death penalties" on normal.

Or maybe there aren't any death penalties because health globes aren't meeting certain standards and there are A LOT of deaths in their tests. Food for thought.
Possibly, but I don't think so. If they'd be aware that health orbs don't meet their standards, it would just take a bit of tweaking with a couple of values to remedy that. They could easily increase the drop chance and percentage of health restored if necessary.

Hmmm.. I think that in normal play, we're actually not supposed to die a lot. There will be several mechanics (health orbs, potions) to keep us alive. Dying also abruptly halts the action, which is something they want to avoid. Hence the fact that you can run back into the fight fairly quickly and easily is understandable and benefits game fun. If the game is really that fast-paced, the fact that you died alone is punishment enough: your buddies go on and you're missing part of the action. Even in single player it's just frustrating, so I don't think any additional punishment is needed. People won't be dying for fun.

posted a message on My 5th Class guess (mildly detailed)
    Quote from Hellfired

I think it probably will be a bow char. I would like it if it was Lesser Bow Knight of Heaven, just my opinion, anything too powerful would spoil it no matter how cool it would be to play the game through as Tyrael
Like I said somewhere before, I'm also hoping for some knightly archer class. He'd be usually ranged, but still able to take a punch. Possibly, but not necessarily, he'd also have some skills that benefit the team.

I also agree with those who are pretty sure it will be any kind of ranged class. Just think about it. Nobody is going to use a bow on the other characters, even if they have some skills that can be used with bows. That means that a whole item group (and hence a whole part of game mechanics) will be marginalized to "fun" builds which people start making after 5 years of playing the game. To me, the fact that they took the effort to include bows, means that there will be a class which mainly uses bows.
