    Quote from italofoca

I think this kind of mini game should be a high end quest/event, but not the high end itself. I think they can sustain a very good high by just adding a ridicolous amount of quests to do... still Diablo only needs enough content to feed the player until the level cap and maybe a little more then that. After all diablo is a game made to be REPLAYED, you're not suppose to play the same toon for a eternity... So reroll itself is already the "high end".

Actually, I don't think you should be able to hit the cap till well after you're done with everything. My reason for this is in Borderlands (while I thought it was a good game, it is easily a GREAT object lesson for Diablo, what with it being Diablo with guns). Most players hit lvl 50 (the cap before the latest expansion) WELL before they were done. Okay, they didn't hit it on the first play through, but they did well before the end of the second. This cut down on the drive to keep playing, as it didn't feel like you were accomplishing much. It didn't help that the best weapons were too easy to find (and too limited to a single fire class of weapons), but you hit the cap and were like uh...now what? Sure, some people hunted for new weapons, but a lot of other people just stopped playing.

I know that the difference between lvl 90 and 99 isn't that big, but the time difference is. It's just one more thing to achieve, and to be really hard to achieve.

Of course, all this might have been solved in BL if the best weapons were harder to find, and not just SMGs.

@Ophion - what do bots do? Just Baal runs till the character is real high? And also, I didn't know they'd made a bot that could beat a Captcha.

posted a message on Blizzard Accounts...
Well, SFJake was right that the actual B.Net account name is meaningless. For a lot of people, it's their real name, and that's defiantly not what their SC2 handle is. So, even if your SC2 handle is Maggot, and your B.Net account is Maggot, that doesn't mean anything for your D3 name.

Furthermore, the name shown is even MORE meaningless, because they allow more than one person to have the same name. They just add something called a "character ID number" (I think). So you might be Maggot.123, or the 123rd maggot (if I'm correct in understanding it). Point being, don't matter if every single person who bought SC2 chose Maggot, you'd be able to chose it for SC2, and even more so for D3.
Edit: Fingolfin ninja'd me. But we are both talking about the identifier system that means that you can have any name you want, as long as it's not obscene (I think they have a filter for that, not sure).

I agree with Gulliver, a pally would be great. Though I'd go with an offensive aura pally, cause in normal you don't need all that great of a build.

That, or a summon Necro, to keep some pressure off the barb.

With everybody having to sign into battle.net I don't think that this dilemma will even exist. I think that once you sign into battle.net, you will have an option to either create a room for solo play or there will be an option like the campaign mode for SC that will allow you to play off-line (again, after already signing in). However, I think that all characters will still be saved via their servers.
Well, yes. Sort of. You'll be able to sign in, and create a room for solo play, just like you can make games in SC2 and just place AI opponents in it, or how you can create a private game in D2 online. But I'm sure that any character that gets saved to your HDD will only be for offline single player, ever. Not even for LAN, because they decided to stop LAN to stop pirates or some such.
Which would limit -ALL- possibilities of playing with friends on a modded game. If thats the way they go, they're not getting my money.

Sucks, don't it? Blizzard is going the lazy route, and to protect us/them from the few bad apples, they're punishing the rest of us.

posted a message on One Player Mode?
I very much doubt you will be forced to have a B.Net account to play SP. To play MP, yes, but to play offline, it will probably be like SC2, which has an offline/guest button.

What I think I'll do is play through the game at least once on my own. It'll probably be in private games, just so I can then bring it into the online world for NM and hell modes, and for trading when I'm done. I'll do this because I like to take my time the first time through, you know, stop and smell the roses. That's hard when you have people racing through everything.

Yeah, but one of the things that made it impossible to hack was that the character was server side. I'm pretty sure I've seen guides to hacking SP characters, and I know I've seen guides to hacks for SP (and by that I mean mods that change the game radically, which is basically a hack).
Ya, I am aware of that.I wonder how Blizzard will handle hackers, because personally I grow tired of them.Bots, Spam...you think they would make this problem a PRIORITY for D3 and SC2.I will be avidly looking at how this will turn out upon D3 release..whenever the hell that is lol. :wallbash:
They'll handle it like they did in SC2: Get rid of whatever the hackers ruined. The ad bots ruined chat? No more chat channels. They ruined characters by grinding? No more characters. Eventually they just release empty boxes, so the hackers and the TPPK'ers can't ruin the game for others.

The Installation Disc better have an evil feel to it and have a demonic aura pervading it, ready to corrupt our souls.

My hope is that the DVD image is actually a bunch of tiny pieces of sand glued on, so it has this rough desert look to it. Then when the disc spins up in our drives, it lets go of a bunch of corrupting demonic grit.

Well, thats what im not sure about.Blizzard made it impossible to hack items and other attributes of toons in D2.With the new BN 2 coming out, it will probably be impossible to hack anything. So why not do it?I was mostly curious if anyone knew any info on this matter, but it seems like this has yet to come to light. interesting.

Oddly enough, my level 55 just got like 5 +1 skill ammy's in a row. One was even a +2 to bone/poison spells with more good mods, too bad I have a shaman.

Although I always thought the low level odds should be better than the high level odds, just because there are so many regular rune words that are all but useless when you get them. If you could get some of them at level 10-20, they might actually be useful (with the exception of a few caster type uniques, like the magefist).

Except that would be the equivalent of playing D2 on battle.net in your own private game.

After the debacle that is the Borderlands hack-scape, I doubt Blizz will let us have MP and SP characters cross. It just makes it too hard to enforce anti-hacking laws.

posted a message on Confused as to why People lowlevel rush
    Quote from Ophion

Well, it is a sort of fun topic as most people find this out after like 2 hours on battle.net xD A D2 player asking what the point of rushing is compares to......a WoW player asking why you would waste tons of gold on a mount when you can run or use transportation like Gryphons......a FPS game (pick one yourself) player asking why someone would want to increase their sensitivity when it will only make them less accurate...And there I become too bored to find another example of questions so obvious that they immediatly make you look stupid...It is hard to take you seriously when you ask a question like that. Next time, to avoid looking like a moron, try Google or Wikipedia... or why not Wikipedia.(those links are actually linking to information, not to the mainpage of those sites)

Apparently it's common knowledge that you can get full exp from monsters even if they are way higher level than you, and so it's actually feasible to level in hell mode as a level one. Also, I guess I should have known what PvPers do, even though I do not PvP, nor do any of my friends who I have EVER played the game with.

It's hard to take a community seriously when apparently 90% of the people assume anyone playing Diablo plays it exactly the same way. I knew the rushers weren't playing the same way as I, and so I asked as to what they were doing. Instead of a simple 30 second response, I got a bunch of people trolling and/or going off topic to what? Embarrass me on an internet forum?

    Good show chaps.

In the Chaos sanctuary in hell difficulty you get experience points even if you are level 1.So people get rushed to Hell act 4, get to lvl 80 in Chaos runs, and then go to Baal run.

Thanks. Sounds boring, but now I know.

Anyway, I'm glad SOMEONE was mature enough to just answer the question and end this quagmire of a thread.
