Could be a firewall problem. Whenever a game is patched, there's a chance that the firewall will stop recognizing it as a safe program and will attempt to restrict network access to it. Have you tried turning off your firewall?

Firewalls allow or disallow traffic. Not sure a firewall issue is the cause. This weekend I noticed that whenever a WD was in the group lag would set in, it was almost unplayable.

They tweaked LG to cap at 5 APS...which is utterly pointless.

Console D3 multiplayer is ruined....shared EXP kills public games and duping now means people have infinite mats for reforging.

Saw one guy broadcast where he created a new character, one shot levelled him to 70 with a modded weapon then crafted rares of each slot and simply upgraded them until he got the pieces he wanted...if he ran out of mats he simply duped more....he then reforged the pieces he had until he got entire ancient versions then he enchanted them to get perfect rolls.

So in an hour he went from Level 1 to a Level 70 character with a fully kited out gear for a high end build....without ever leaving the town.

Ruined and pointless....people on consoles are now not playing D3, they are play K3...they play the cube.

Its not just consoles that are affected by the Cube, this game is no longer about finding gear.

Yes, to be honest not sure the point of leaderboards. Diablo for me has and will be a game about finding loot and killing monsters. The issue I have is exactly what Paradoks said. the said the end game is to farm more paragon. While this might be the truth, this is not and was not what Diablo was all about.

Blizzard screwed up when they first released this game with the AH, the AH caused drops to be crafted around it, after all Blizzard went the greed route. Once blizzard fixed and removed the AH this left people who I assume is a younger crowd complaining drops were hard.

Fast forward. Kala, Cube, Mystic these are all thing that were added to the game to make the instant gratification group happy. Sorry, I prefer the past in this aspect.

how luck affect leader board? people care about leader board at late season when almost every1 got their full build with optimized stats so luck on gear and drops doesnt matter! about luck on dream rift well lets say if u open million of different rifts on 75lvl without skill and techniques you may finish it after a few hours IF you dont rage quite ! and the game is based on grinding so if u want to be on top part of leader board you have to invest lots of time and grind...theres nothing in the world that you can achieve without investing time... even on a moba like hots you need to spend a lot of time to farm gold to buy strongest heroes in game or buy them by real money! and then some1 will make a forum about how P2W or unbalanced is the game!

Luck us a big part of GRIFTS, if not then why do the people on the leader boards all fish for the perfect GRIFT (LUCK).
Luck on finding the best item. Luck on enchanting it.

The game is not about grinding anymore, if it was we would not have several ways to get great gear nor would we have a way to fix attributes that are bad. So, sorry it is no longer a grind for gear, its a grind to see how high in GRIFS you can go.

As to the skill portion of your post, WWB please tell me what skill it takes to mash one or two buttons all day? Yet, I will concede that skill does play a factor to an extent. Yes, it does take skill that can be learned not to stand in stupid, ye sit does take skill to not get hit with a arcane. However, these skills you speak of are mild and can be learned by just about anyone.
People with fast reflexs will always do good in games like this.

    > dude complains about skill in a hack'n slash game <_< and about players with lot of time being at the top in a grindfest <_< man i kinda can't see where you're aiming this at. and tbh the free time thing applies to almost every game and much more :o
and to the luck thing- Luck was the issue when raekors barbs were looking for conduit back in the day.

Sigh, where do you see me complain, I suspect you are a youngster as well?
I asked what's the point of a leaderboard when all the leader board does is show who has way to much free time on their hands? Last I checked this was a forum to talk about Diablo 3 related items. This is a Diablo 3 question, it seems many of you want to read between the lines yet don't know how to read.
At 52 years of age I do not get mad or upset about video games, at 52 years of age I like to talk and examine why people do what they do, far more entertaining. So, again, leave the personal attacks out and if you have an answer please provide it. What is the point of the Leaderboards, just what does it stroke for you guys that chase it?

Resentment, love to put words in my mouth, I wish you would stop so I can stop correcting you, I don't pretend to know you or speak for your temperament even if I do have an opinion.

I wont lie, the game is good, it is fun, however it is not Diablo from my youth. It is no longer a game about loot, this is fact and a truth. The stuff is to easy now, gear is trivial at best. It also depends on what you want to do in the game, me I just want to find loot so I can fight stronger monster and get more loot.

if you prefer a loot based game then I would suggest 2 things.

    1. Don't use the cube.

    2. Don't use Kala.

Both of these make gearing trivial and removes the excitement from finding gear in the wild.

With that said Zwang has provided you some good advice minus the personal attack to me.

Your best bet is to hook up with a player and have them show you around, I will be more then happy to do that tonight. Romonaga#1966

    "very little skill"?

rng helps you sheeeet if you cant play properly... most things are oneshotting you if not played "correctly". I call that skill. Theyre achieving this difficulties by knowing mechanics, proper character placement, communication, everyone doing his job wonderfully, and so on. Ikr, some time to invest besides playing around.

I respect players who do that, its dedication for the game. Some actually share their results and guess what, everyone copies their builds. Just take a look how much time someone has spent overall in the season so far, calc hrs/day and you know if its a legit one. But don't hate legit people with dedication.

an era or season gonna last about 4 months.tbh everyone who plays a char actively will be on the leaderboards, thats it. if you dont care how high you can go with your gear set up, dont blame others they got their fun with it and want to compare to each other. nobody is trying to "impress you". so please dont be mad and dont pretend not to be mad. Because only a saltoverload would make you post in the first place and then deny it all.

This is the difference between PRO gamers (Streamers and other that do it for cash) and casuals. I expect the PRO gamers to do this, I expect them to Min MAX everything. What you are talking about is a very small percentage of the people who play. Hardly indicative of the overall population in Diablo 3. So your comment about the top players is way off mark and is not even the subject of this post.

Please don't make wild assumptions about my mood, I am not mad, not even upset. Never claimed anyone was trying to impress me. You did read my post did you not? Or did you just read the tile and decided to comment.
Where in my post did I talk about not getting the drops I want? Exactly I didn't, as a matter of fact I feel it is to easy to get good drops ATM.
Where did I talk about blaming others for my inability to climb the leaderboards? Exactly I didn't, blame anyone. This is because I know leader boards are nothing but a place for people who have way more time then I do to play a game. Now, am I upset that I don't have as much free time as others? Yep, sometimes I get a bit Jelly about that. However, I love money, fast cars and finer things in life, I will not get them in a computer game.
So yes, I do think that Diablo 3 requires very little skills outside the top players who make money doing this, or who have nothing better to do.

Example, yesterday I would have played all day and received massive levels, however driving my corvette was much more fun and DID require skills on the track.

Wow, so many questions you have, I will see if I can help a bit. I also have recently returned, my last time playing was vanilla. I left because of the AH and how loot was based on the AH.

The hardest thing for me to relearn was that Diablo 3 is NOT an item hunt game anymore (Learned that this weekend and today.), it is a game about climbing the top of a leader board in a game that is based on luck and amount of time you can spend in game. However, now I am off track let me get back on.

What you do is determined by what you want to do. If you want to push the leaderboards you will need the proper gear, high level paragon, as well as a group of people you can run with as pushing leaderboards is not something that one would do in pugs.

The game punishes solo players to the extent that you feel forced to join a group. In a group setting you get more EXP, more gold, more items, more magic find. A good group can get about 10 times more EXP then you running solo.

Drops are fantastic, it is cheaper and easier to use the Cube and have it reforge a rare into a legendary. Kala, can be used for getting equipment as well, however it is a bit harder to get good drops from her. However, you can you know still find loot on monsters you kill, however this is not how all the cool kids are doing it these days.

Don't get me wrong, while I am picking on how Diablo is no longer a loot game it is still fun and still a far better Diablo 3 then what was first produced.

@Romonaga: Never accept things that make you insane. :) Fight with what you can. In this case, with opinions and posts.

I am optimistic about the whole situation tbh. A lot of closely related things (item hunt vs paragon vs leaderboards competition, xp gear and leeching vs normal play, solo vs multi, botting/huds vs fair play) need fixing and this time we don't have the trials scenario. Blizzard devs can't delay this whole mess 3 more seasons in a row. Right now they are those under pressure. If they make the wrong decisions more players will quit. It's simple as that.

Yes you are correct one must keep fighting, yet as some other person in a different post told me, times have changed old man. Todays Diablo is not your Diablo or your fathers Diablo.

The game is fun, however it is no longer an item hunt game, my weekend showed me just how messed up it is. When I can take a level 1 char level to 70 and gear it for t6-t8 in under 4 hours. Outside the leveling to 70, this char did not step one foot into a RIFT, GRIFT, Bounty.
I am optimistic as well, I seen the game from day one, it was bad, an item hunt game with no items is simply not fun. However, it is clear they want to shift this from an item hunt game to I don't know what. I just want a fun game that will have some longevity, no I don't want to play D2, did that for years, its old like me, clunky like me.

    This thread, what's the point?

It was always like that, and it will always be. Due to paragon lvls now even more due to the time aspect and less the luck aspect which mattered way more in D2, since the droprates are now ridiculously high, time is the only thing seperating pros from casuals. But this was basically the same in D2. The only thing you needed skill for in these days were PvP lowlvl tournaments.

Summing things up: The Diablo series has never been very demanding since it is a grinder.

Still, people keep on forgetting that it is a game, it serves the purpose of fun. Nothing else.

Thank you for your response. Last I checked this was a Diablo 3 Game forum, where people go to you know discuss the game. I had a question that has been bothering me and decided to see what the big deal is or if I was wrong.
To be honest your response is exactly what is wrong with the younger generation (No I don't know your age but...) I am not here to complain, I am here to talk and to get clarification on a subject. I am sorry if this thread wasted your time.

    mad?

Not at all, I have no desire to chase the leader boards in a game that requires very little skill and is mostly luck dependent. However, I do like to talk to people and learn from them to see if perhaps my view on this subject is incorrect.

So, now that we established that I am not mad, not even slightly, do you have any insight you care to share as to what the point of leader boards is?

Leader Boards in a game that is based on luck as well as based on the amount of time you can dedicate. The person who has the most time and the better luck will be tops on leaderboard. Very little of this is due to skill, as such there is no competition at all, unless you have a RNG contest to see who gets the most luck.

Now, if you Leaderboard chasers want to impress us, try a competition that does require skill. Diablo 3 is a game that requires very little skill, so congrats on being at the top of a leader board so the world can see just how much freetime you have to toss around.
