Dear Blizzard,
In Blizzcon, I would like to see a major update on Diablo 3. Preferably two new classes, updates on the new battle net, and new features. I would also like to see more updates on the items and give us some information about pvp and quests. I would also like to know if Diablo comes back, and WHY!?
PS: I hope this contest is absolutely random and the outcome isnt determined by the quality or quantity of post.

Sep 10, 2008sammyly02 posted a message on Skovos not accessible in Diablo IIIPosted in: NewsQuote from "Medievaldragon" »Bashiok confirmed the piece of artwork shown in the latest media update is indeed Skovos Isle, but it won't be a place we will visit in Diablo 3. From the looks of it, probably the expansion? Skovos is the homeland of the Amazon class in Diablo II.
As we know, the only returning playable class is the Barbarian. However, Jay Wilson recently suggested some classes could return in the Diablo 3 expansion pack.

I agree.
Oh I mean about you. Not him,
there are no preorders available, the damn game is BEING DEVELOPED. We wont see D3 for another 2 years more than likely.
You got called out on a lie, you fail, get over it.
Actually there are pre-order sites that are known to be quite trustworthy. People will pre-order the game, it's believable. Even though the game is in development, what the company usually does is push the release date back. However whether he is lying or not, is something we can only assume. -
Jul 9, 2008sammyly02 posted a message on Official BlizzCast 5 Q&A SubmissionsPosted in: NewsQuote from "Booda" »First of all, the change is probably due to the more action-oriented gameplay. Exaggerated physical features have more impact and better express what is going on in the game. Gothic art styles are very moody, but the darkness obscures the action. This isn't Resident Evil, where you try to run and hide from zombies. This is Diablo.
Second of all, give the art direction a rest. There is a strong opposition to the art style. End of discussion. All the petitions and campaigns are too much. Just leave your feedback and move on.
There is no weight in your argument. There is no correlation between vibrant colors and action-oriented game-play. Exaggerated shoulder-pads do not have more impact and do not express what is going on in the game at all. Diablo 2 was very gothic and dark, but the darkness did not obscure the action. I can go on and on and break down your arguments but I'll end it by saying that you are stupid. There is no weight in your arguments at all. -

for example, mage hurls small meteors on level 1, but really huge ones in wast amounts on the max level?
will your summon on level 1 be looking weak but as you pump him up, will he turn into some ugly bloodthirsty beast on level 20?
will the overall look of the char change according to his level except for the equipment he is carrying? - some special glow, aura, stuff like that?
Nice Suggestion =D -

2. Contrary to Diablo II, will gold be more valuable in Diablo III?
3. Regarding the PVP system, will it be mutual-agreement dueling or will players be able to forcefully kill each other?
4. Will you implement an achievement system for kill counts, player-kill counts, death counts, quest-completion counts and etcetera?
5. Keith Lee hinted that the Witch-Doctor may replace the Necromancer, has Blizzard come to a decision yet and why?
6. Regarding the map of Sanctuary, does Xiansai have anything related to the Asian culture?
7. Will there be Game-Masters and a much more hack-protected community for Diablo 3?
8. When is Blizzard planning to reveal more of the game through means such as another game-play video?
9. Regarding the cinematic trailer, who is the girl and who is the demon with three mouths?
10. Will there be a beta version of Diablo III in which the public can participate? - To post a comment, please login or register a new account.

He meant that he took it from the original game-play video and made it slow-motion. Why do you take everything literally? Try to use some common sense. I hate people like you.
On the other hand, nice video =D

As a counter-argument for those who keep saying
"Blizzard said the WD is not replacing the Necromancer"
The necromancer will NOT make an appearance in D3 as long as the witchdoctor stays
(THIS STATEMENT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH D3 EXPANSION.)
They've introduced 2 Classes
1. "Close-Combat-Physical Type" [Barbarian]
2. "Dark-Caster Type" [Witch-Doctor]
3. "Ranged-Combat-Physical Type"
4. "Elemental-Caster Type"
5. "Holy-Caster or Paladin Type"
"Assassin-Type"
So there we have it. Barbarian, Witchdoctor, Amazon, Sorceress, and #5. With the Witchdoctor acting as the dark-caster type, there is no room for another dark-caster [my beloved necromancer]. As for Amazon and Sorceress, there class names will probably change to fit the male/female function. I refused to call some classes a Warrior or Rogue Type because of the anti-wows in here.
According to this article
http://multiplayerblog.mtv.com/2008/07/02/diablo-iii-witch-doctor-vs-necromancer/
Producer Keith Lee gave several hints towards the replacement of the necromancer.
1) "What do you think about the Witch Doctor possibly replacing the Necromancer?"
2) "If you played “Diablo II,” does it really matter to you?"
3) "And I think that one of the things that might be hard is the fact that we might have to give up a few character classes that people loved in ‘Diablo I’ and Diablo ‘II.’"
Again, let me repeat, Diablo III Expansion MAY or MAY-NOT have the necromancer. What I am trying to say is, for Diablo III Classic, the Necromancer is gone.
Haha, that is unless they get rid of the Witch Doctor, then the necromancer will have his place.
EDIT: Btw, imma change my thread post so that people won't point out the same mistakes over and over again.

Blizzard always shares ideas from other franchises, did you know that Witch-Doctor was also a unit used in WarCraft 3?
I've seen it and learned much about the WD. I am not alone here, a lot of people dislike the WD, THAT ALONE means they have not chosen wisely.
This is in regards to van's arguments.

The witch doctor, on the other hand, seems to be more of a caster with a pet-control ability. Jay Wilson, a lead designer on Diablo III, said the witch doctor is not a replacement for Diablo II's necromancer. Witch doctors can cast a locust swarm that bounces between enemies, causing damage, or buffs the attack of any pets it's cast upon. He also gets a fire bomb ability, which appeared to be a limited range area of effect fire spell, and the more interesting wall of zombies attack. The latter sprouts a group of zombies out the ground and, while they don't appear to move, they do block enemies and swat at them with flailing arms.
Jackpot. Thanks a lot sandman53.
Magistrate, this seems to be the material you've been talking about. However, if this is the case, it may contradict to the thread about the 5 core classes being distinct.
If the WD has an undead tree, this WILL bleed into the necromancer's abilities.
If there really is a necromancer in D3, then there will only be 2 classes remaining. The sorceress and the amazon (considering i saw a short staff and short bow drop in the gameplay trailer).
This leaves out the paladin, assassin and the druid.

Why are people always against complaints about the game? was it a forum rule that we cannot complain about the new D3 we've been waiting for years? If it was a rule, half the forum would be banned for complaining about lighting, wow-related complains and etc.
If I don't like something, I'll speak up about it. People like you just live with your problems and nothing will ever change. If the whole world was filled with people like you, slavery, racism and sexism will never find its way to a solution.
The title of this thread was simple and straightforward.
I don't like the Witch-Doctor.

you still haven't offered me the proof of blizzard "DIRECTLY" saying that the witchdoctor is not a replacement for the Necro.
Why do you guys like moving threads and closing them and such, why cant you just let us talk about what we care for.
This is exactly what i care for, as i mentioned in my analogy, what if they were ruining the barbarian?
0
I am totally unaware of this. Care to shed some light?

Well as an analogy,
we can call the Barbarian a "Blood-Knight" and make his model a young skinny boy with the ability to throw shields around. Then change his character background and make him a blood-elf. (which is exactly what they did with the WD)
He'll still be fun, but it just wont be as cool as the barbarian.
Then people are just going to say "Oh his shield throwing spell makes sense. Get used to it the Blood-Knight owns."

Heres my answer:
Blizzard said they wanted 5 distinct classes, putting the necro and the wd in the game wont work because the wd raises dead, uses undead walls, and is pretty much a necro with a fireblast. If they do that, we'll have 2 necros, 1 good one and 1 uncool one (wd).
THEREFORE!!!
its quite obvious, WD is the new necro replacement. i also see a bit of Druid in the WD
i guess some of you are right, blizzard is prolly going to make a syk hero out of the witch doctor since hes our new necromancer. (i just hope he has stronger spells)
But i wish the necromancer would be like the barbarian, remade with new spells and abilities.
As the thread-starter i didnt say anything about the WD being "wowish"

It was a disappointment that there are only five classes in D3. I think the witch-doctor is a bad replacement for the undead-caster. Most importantly, he is a waste of one of the five precious classes.
Why?
Primary reason:
He looks so weird and ugly.
His class name even sounds weird. it doesn't sound dark at all! I would much prefer the warlock, shaman, and best of all, the necromancer.
I am not a hardcore fan of the necromancer, but if you are going to replace such a meaningful class, please choose wisely.
Why does the witch doctor have a firebomb spell? THIS DOESN'T MAKE SENSE. Fire should remain unique to the sorceress (unless you have elemental traps like the assassin in d2).
But a plain firebomb spell?
I like the undead wall. The mongrels, locust swarm, horrify and other spells are pretty uncool.
Just my thought. I have to admit, the WD Looks pretty ugly. His spells seem all over the place.
The barbarian totally overshadowed the WD in the gameplay trailer.
