posted a message on anyone annoyed with the little floating numbers?
Well I guess a critical strike animation would work, but you wouldn't know the PRECISE amount of damage you inflicted. But imagine this, you are using multiple shot with an amazon on a mob of zombies, hitting around 20 of them with every sequence. Imagine how cool it would be to see how many critical strikes pop up.

Or you can imagine the entire scenario without floating numbers, that would work too. But I don't think the numbers are that bothersome ^_^

    What?
Can you elaborate? I didn't get that "feeling".
    What uncertified information?
I thought he was fine. Not exceptional, but fine.

Uncertified information like... hes posting it in the WoW forums (when he should be posting it here instead -_-) telling people that there won't be PKING anymore and that Gold will be the more valuable. (This is a lot of important information he is leaking)

But none of us can confirm he is telling the truth until it appears on www.diablo3.com

His ultimate reason for banning Pking is that he thinks its a waste of time. Games are a waste of time. Entertainment is a waste of time. We're all going to die in the end, does this mean everything is a waste of time? Pking can be fun, and isn't a waste of time in my opinion. I think his reasoning is pretty stupid and there has been a thread going on about it.

posted a message on Does anyone feel the game going to disappoint?
Well to be honest, I am one of those thread starters who complain about everything in the game-play video. I am quite nervous and afraid, but experience tells me Blizzard will never disappoint me. Out of all blizzard games, this is the one I am anticipating the most. I don't think it will be a disappointment and I think we should trust Blizzard.

About Bashiok... I have a feeling that he never made it past level 50 in Diablo 2: LoD. I haven't seen all his posts, but I read the PVP one. He talks as if someone can PK him anywhere on the battlefield and kill him... -_- And you're absolutely right about him releasing uncertified information. That really pisses me off too.

I like the numbers... looks pretty sweet in my opinion. I really do hope that you can toggle things on or off easily in D3. That way everyone will be happy =D...

But don't you want to know when you are doing a critical hit? For example in D2 LOD, you never knew when your amazon was shooting criticals... I think these floating numbers couldn't be done any better, the color and font are simple and clean.

Clearly the best time in a game's development when you should voice concerns is at release.

posted a message on Diablo 3 loves God of War
Agreed, when I first opened the D3 game-play trailer I saw GoW.
    http://www.gamefaqs.com/portable/psp/home/938607.html
The majority thinks that God of War is at least an 8.4/10 game, meaning that we aren't the only ones that love this game. I must say, I am VERY surprised at the comments of SSJ5Brolly and Veritech017.

    Quote from "Veritech017" »
Yes, clearly GoW is using the same flat textures and lack of any sort of
    current gen technology.

Hate to inform you but the graphics they are using for D3 are at least 6-7 years behind in terms of development. This isn't a bad thing, but I have high hopes they will do to D3 what happened to SC2 when fans spoke out. A little extra work to give textures depth couldn't hurt Blizzard.

Why are all you are comparing D3 with games like Crysis. If Blizzard released games with such graphics and mad physics, looks like NVIDIA and ATI will be making more money selling new video-cards than Blizzard will - selling the actual game.

Here are the RECOMMENDED SYSTEM REQUIRMENTS for Crysis:
CPU: Core 2 Duo/Athlon X2 or better RAM: 1.5GB Video Card: NVIDIA 7800 Series, ATI Radeon 1800 Series or better VRAM: 512MB of Graphics Memory Storage: 12GB Sound Card: DirectX 9.0c Compatible ODD: DVD-ROM OS: Microsoft Windows XP or Vista DirectX: DX9.0c or DX10

    Source: http://www.crysis-online.com/Information/System%20Requirements/
    Crysis Physics Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VaHS-y_mapQ

The video card itself cost at least $220.00 sold separately. I know a lot of D2:LOD Players that do not have a Duo Core processor, but I have one. To get a cheap Duo Core processor laptop in stores like future shop would probably cost around $1200.00. The game is so heavy that it takes up 12GBs (SOME COMPUTERS DON'T EVEN HAVE 12 GBS IN TOTAL...) (Keep in mind that the most graphic-heavy RTS game: Command and Conquer 3 only takes up 6GBs /// Diablo 2 LoD only required less than 1.5 GBs.) Diablo 2 Only required 62 MB of RAM to run, while Crysis requires 1.5GB of RAM.

(These were only the recommended settings. If you want to fully enjoy a smooth and crisp game-play, you'll need a lot more.)

To recap on what many posters have stated on this thread, not everyone has the luxury of buying a new computer just to play Diablo 3. Many people have to buy a new computer to handle the current state of Diablo 3, but if you want Crysis graphics? Blizzard is going to lose a lot of consumers.

Well, you get the point now don't you Veritech017? Actually, you probably will never comprehend. Blizzard is smart, they want to use acceptable graphics to make a great game and at the same time have a very flexible graphics control. This way they can please all of there consumers by being easily handled by most computers and at the same time reserve their resources instead of wasting it on graphics that less than half the forum community can afford.

Oh, right, you also talked about how you don't see any graphical relationship between GoW and D3. I mean... Common -_-'

    Just look at Kratos:
    http://cache.kotaku.com/assets/resources/2007/01/kratos_statue.jpg

And now look at the Barbarian:
    http://www.cdaccess.com/gifs/screen/d2barbarian.jpg

And that's just the beginning of the resemblance, theres a lot more, but I'll let you absorb it one-step-at-a-time so your brain doesn't overflow.

I still can't believe you confidently stated:
Hate to inform you but the graphics they are using for D3 are at least 6-7 years behind in terms of development.
You're a Diablo Fan right? Lets look at Diablo 2 which was released 9 years ago. The graphics aren't even nearly as good as D3. I am surprised how you can call yourself a Diablo Fan when you can't even stand Diablo 3 graphics. One of the biggest leaps and achievements from Diablo 2 to Diablo 3 was the graphics.
Fine, 6 years ago then. Warcraft 3 was released in 2002 and now compare the graphics. Diablo 3 is far more superior.
    Just for reference, heres a high-resolution screen-shot Diablo 3:
Heres crazy Crysis released in 2007:
Blizzard isn't famous for their graphics, but you can't push as far as saying that its at least 6-7 years behind in development.

posted a message on Highest level in D3?
Lmao... I would like any level as long as the leveling rate stays the same.

From 60 -> 120 sounds good. My preference is 100 though. 99 is pretty but 100 looks a lot stronger than 99.

Games like maplestory are ****ing STUPID! Leveling till 50 (max level is 200) is like getting to level 90 in diablo

    I say 100.

    Diablo's fatality is pretty cool.

    Diabolic Detonation -
Every time Diablo attacks an enemy under 66% hp, Diablo has 43% chance to activate his fatality. Diablo obliterates and explodes the enemy alive, creating a 13.32 yard area of effect damage based on the heroes current HP.

posted a message on In-game language filter
The OP is obviously the minority here. Adding a swear-filter is **** ******* in my opinion. Why don't you go play Maplestory? Oh, be prepared to get cussed off by words and phrases like:

"Fuq you Niqqer go eat shyt btich."
"Rush me or ill fuq your mom you piece of cuum!"
"Smell my cawk you puccie licker!"
"I luv swearing so fuq you btich ^_^"

Maplestory has the strongest swear-filter out of all the games I know... You can't even say "tit" like "Can't it..." because T and it are together. Even so, there are so many ways to get around the swear filter and in the end it'll just be more troublesome.

And LMAO to the parents who want to expose there children to Diablo 3 and at the same time want a swear-filter. ITS A MATURE RATED GAME, why don't you censor the gore so your children won't take a knife and cut your genitals off in the middle of the night? Why don't you censor the female hero's cleavage so your children won't get a random erection while slaying demons?

About the N-Word, it has been spread all over the net, people use it as a casual insult without really realizing what it means. "Fuq you Niqqa" is used commonly as a joke or insult, however you want to perceive it. There are ugly and nasty people everywhere, your best bet is to use /ignore.

About the F word. As unpleasant as it may sound, you just have to get used to it. I have been arrested before for throwing a snowball at a house. The police said

"Why the f*ck did you throw the snowball, F*CKING ANSWER ME"

You know, there are a lot of people who swear and break the moral code. But swearing isn't as bad as raping someone or murdering someone and we should have the freedom of speech.

BTW, Moderators, I don't think I deserve to get punished in this post for flaming as I have never directly insulted anyone or used direct profanity.

EDIT: If anakyn or a moderator deletes this post, you might as well delete this whole thread because I didn't go as far as the OP as to call someone a Nazi. I never used any negativity, swore or insulted anyone, all my insults were just examples of what could have been said if there was a swear filter.

First of all, the change is probably due to the more action-oriented gameplay. Exaggerated physical features have more impact and better express what is going on in the game. Gothic art styles are very moody, but the darkness obscures the action. This isn't Resident Evil, where you try to run and hide from zombies. This is Diablo.

Second of all, give the art direction a rest. There is a strong opposition to the art style. End of discussion. All the petitions and campaigns are too much. Just leave your feedback and move on.

There is no weight in your argument. There is no correlation between vibrant colors and action-oriented game-play. Exaggerated shoulder-pads do not have more impact and do not express what is going on in the game at all. Diablo 2 was very gothic and dark, but the darkness did not obscure the action. I can go on and on and break down your arguments but I'll end it by saying that you are stupid. There is no weight in your arguments at all.
