posted a message on Hellish Suggestions for D3
If you want Blizzard to see your ideas, you really ought to be posting in the Battle.net forums. I doubt they probe this forum for ideas.

I agree that Hell ought to be ridiculously difficult. It should stop being the place where "everyone levels". It really ought to be so intimidating that players prefer to play in Nightmare.

To me, Nightmare was always the easiest difficulty. Of course it is harder than Normal, but relative to its position in the game, Nightmare was always a much faster run than Normal was. As I begin Nightmare, I have the necessary batch of mid-level and high-level skills to absolutely ruin everything in my path. In other words, I never felt that Nightmare scaled properly. It never felt that difficult. Hell is definitely a large step up from Nightmare, but Hell was still doable in the long run.

I want Nightmare to be difficult in a fun way; I want Hell to be difficult in an almost frustrating way. The game should really test your skill by that point; it should really scare off the players who lack a solid background in Diablo games. :P

I welcome the challenge of not having TPs. Yes, they were fun to abuse, but it's time for something new.

So lets say there were no TP's in D2.

Yunno how fucking annoying it would be fighting Duriel?

Blizzard already stated that to compensate for loss of TP/potion abuse, monsters would do slightly less damage and provide more of an even fight.

OK, it's getting really old making repeated comparisons between D3 and WoW. Did it ever occur to you that Warcraft used to be only an RTS? WoW drew most of its inspiration from Diablo 2. That would mean, by extension, that taking inspiration from WoW means taking inspiration from Diablo 2.

This is why I am upset that Blizzard removed LAN play from the game. Battle.net had cheaters, jerks, and slow connections at times. LAN play overcame all of that. I loved playing with real friends in the same room.

    RIP LAN

Well - i stop play Diablo after 1.11 - which destroy the fun , and expel the players of Battle.net

Updating with this patch and massive maphack ban was a HUDGE MISTAKE which will never be forgotten by Diablo fans.

You're upset that they banned MapHacks?

Personally I feel weird about getting involved in any kind of a game relationship like that, where other gamers know who you are. It represents a level of commitment to the game that is unhealthy in my opinion. I didn't take it that seriously. Sit down, play for a while...maybe meet someone and explore with them, and then wipe your hands clean. I think I may have had a couple people on my friends list who would help each other out with a transfer now and then, but that's about it.

I think Diablo attracts a lot of more relaxed gamers like me because its so fast paced and so easy to sit down and play for just 5 minutes. A game like WoW you cant sit down and play for 5 minutes and get anything done, so if you know you dont want to play for 5 hours, you dont even start. With Diablo, you think...I'll just play for 5 minutes...and then maybe you get sucked in for 5 hours...but you didn't plan for it :/

LOL! I don't recommend swapping real names, social security numbers, phone numbers, and home addresses. I'm talking about just chat relationships.

The mentality is slightly wrong here. I completely agree that cheating should be dealt with (and punished), but it can be dealt with on a personal level by simply playing with people you know. I am still unsure as to why people insist on playing with strangers. Even if I have no friends in the area to play with, I get to know people online, form alliances/clans, and have fun with the same group of people.

Well erm, as long as I remember, they don't care. They will give you a cd-key and that's it because they know the single-player part of the game is not what makes the big majority of the players pay for the game.

So don't worry, I really doubt they will add a drm, not after the big disagrement toward the Drm in spore and all.

I really want to believe you. I'm glad Blizzard has a better perspective on the market than other game developers. I just have this dark feeling that some idiot will decide DRM will "boost sales" somehow. I'm scared. T_T

Diablo 3 connects to servers that Blizzard controls and maintains.

I'm talking about Single Player and having to have the CD in the tray.

I think recent statistics are plenty valid. There are still thousands of Diablo 2 players; why aren't they playing together? Sure, more players played together when the game first came out (because multiplayer is just fun), but obviously something caused a major decline. Many of those players are on the same servers; why won't they play together? I'm sure Blizzard's hope is that people still play together in Diablo 3 even after a decade has passed.
