Quote from "ryanmax24" »Please do your home work before you make a response, D2-LOD had class specific weapons aswell as Armors read up please.
I also hope the environment isnt static, im hoping none of the areas are thats what made titan quest boring for me knowing where to go to farm a boss for items.
Also i dont really like the Graphic detail of the environment looks like a painted picture to me probly just me but thats what im seeing, the 3d rendered characters look nice.
Character/ class wise im hoping there is a caster class, but from the looks of it NO NECROMANCER #@!$!@$$#!$!#@$#@$!#@$#@$!%$#@!@#$!#@$$, i love my necro :(.
P.s darker dungeons please :P.
Quote from "smg9779" »I worry that some douchebag exec at Activision is gonna ruin Blizzard by forcing them to make crappy console games. I smell the end of Blizzard's reign at the top of PC gaming.
Quote from "Dimebog" »Uhhhh dude - rare items are WORSE than uniques in D2...
As for the new inventory system - WAY TO GO BLIZZARD!
Quote from "insats" »I don't like the DPS system
I prefer a damage followed by speed in terms of: very slow, fast, normal, etc.
Quote from "sonicpld" »there is not a problem with diablo 2 inventory - it's a part of the fun !
Quote from "Pony" »are you guys retarded? you can watch the gp vid at blizzards site why even bother describing it and posting screens?
Quote from "Chelletje" »I also saw a "Small Bag" drop which didn't make it to this list. I guess you need bags for more space just like WoW too.
Quote from "sonicpld" »yes - for sure same size for Sword and a potion is little unconvincing.
I prefer much D2 inventory look and feel - it give much fun trought the gameplay.
Also - where is SOCKETS inside items ?!
i wana them back - this is one of the most important differences about Diablo and other games.
if there is no sockert, so there is no runewords - imao ....... no no ... do not kill this part of diablo ... i so love this part of the game !

Alright first off if this post is directed toward me, I never said style is not a big part of the game. Of course it is.
Secondly, the new style is greatly influenced by Blizzard the company sans Blizzard North. Hence Blizzard's signature art style.
What mechanics of Diablo3 the game are influenced by WoW? By mechanic I assume you don't mean gameplay mechanic... because when I watch the D3 gameplay trailer, it looks 110% like Diablo gameplay. If you are referring to the skill hot-bar and inventory system then yes they are similar, however these two thing in my opinion are welcomed additions to the game, and do not make the game play like any other game.
I think some of you are narrow minded and can't get passed the art style of the game, so you just assume, wrongly so, that it is going to play, look, and be just like WoW.
Pull your heads out of your collective asses and watch the game play trailer again, then sit down and shut-up until we hear/see more from Blizzard. If it turns out the game is full of fluffy clouds and bunnies when we get to hell, and not rivers of gore and impaled bodies, then you can chastise the damn game. But this constant fueling of speculation and nerd rage is really, really unnecessary.

whoa whoa whoa.. This game is not becoming closer to WoW or any other game for that matter. Diablo is all about the story, the loot, the demons, the destruction, the spells, the point and click movement, and real time combat. It's fast paced bloody and fun as hell.

Ok, I believe the word stylized, as most people are using it, refers to an overall artistic aesthetic choice made by the Blizzard creative team, and not really the content of the game.
I don't think that Irvine Blizzard is making excuses at all. I think they just know how they want the game to look and are going with it.

Well I happen to really like the way Diablo3 looks and I consider myself a "true" Diablo fan. Your comment, just like mine is an opinion. I would go as far to say that I'm glad Blizzard is taking the Diablo visuals in a new and completely different direction.

Alright a few things here.
1. I'm pretty sure WoW got the idea for colored loot tables from Diablo. Sure we saw some purple names in the game play trailer which is obviously from WoW. But who really cares?
2. I'm also pretty sure that the Bag/inventory system WoW uses has been around for a long time. Personally though I like this change regardless of where it originated.
3. The skill hot-bar is a much needed feature in the Diablo Universe. WoW also had the skill hot-bar but was not the first game to use it by any means. The skill hot-bar allows for faster more intuitive gameplay and management of multiple spells/skills.
4. Dependency on gold in Diablo3 is pure speculation at this point. I wouldn't mind a gold standard for the currency in diablo3 but only time will tell if this will be the case. Again though, WoW was not the first game to have a gold based economy. If we can for a second assume that duping and hacking will be all but destroyed in Diablo3 there would need to be some sort of easy to collect currency used to buy and trade for goods.

No I'm not saying imagination = oversize everything, however it would be hard to argue that there is not a good bit of imagination that went into the D3 barbarian concept art and the armor itself.
I'm simple saying that having big "over sized" horns on a belt or a helmet isn't bad or ridiculous is just a style, a choice. Obviously some people are going to like it and some are not, as is the case with all style choices.

No you are right, this is not an opinion. This is what happens when you shut down a whole branch of your company who work independently and restart the project with the same talent that made Warcraft and Starcraft. This style you are referring too isn't so much influenced by WoW, but more so by Blizzard, and not Blizzard North.
The departure of the "ideal" style so to speak happened when Blizzard North shut down. On that note I don't think that Blizzard North's style was Ideal for Diablo, only different. It's what we are used to and so we consider it ideal, but I like the way Diablo3 seems to be shaping up and think the new art (Blizzard style) will fill in nicely.

Here ya go!
I know its not actually fishnet, however this armor still looks exaggerated to me. BTW yes this is the model used in game I believe, the only difference is that at the 800x600 resolution, and because of it's sprite based nature the details become hard to read in game.
My point is simple though. The little armor we have seen in the D3 trailer looks no less ridiculous than this armor, and quite frankly I happen to like horned skulls, big badass spikes, and steel clawed fur covered boots on my barbarian.
Why? because It's a made up game in a made up universe where made up monsters that breath fire, and spit lightning live. I want to see huge belts with horns, without some jackass complaining about how impossible it is to wield a sword with any level of dexterity based on the weight and circumference of the horns on barbarians belt.
Have people lost all use of the imagination? Do you guys sit at home, watch the movie Legend and then bitch about how big Tim Curry's horns are? I can just imagine the QQing if Tim Curry's version of the devil was in Diablo 3:
"Tim Curry's horns in that move are completely disproportionate to his body, he wouldn't be able to stand up with horns that large, or move his head side to side quickly." Forget the fact that he is a dark lord with untold power, what's important here people is maintaining the illusion of reality in a completely fantastical world.

I bet that later on in the game, there will be blood rivers, dark chasms, Impaled, hanging, dismembered bodies, Darkness!, Death, screams of terror, and hellish sites to great to behold at this time.
Honesty the art style is fine, the two characters we've seen look well thought out and definitely have their own personality. The shoulder pads, meh, a little on the large side, especially on the female barb but I'm not losing sleep over this since I remember some of the armor and helms that the barbarian wore in D2 seemed a little over the top.
Remember guys, even though the art direction is set in stone, and the look of the game has been decided on, that doesn't mean that they aren't going to add specularity and other effects to the materials (surfaces) in the game. Usually these kinds of shaders and effect do not make it into the game until later on in the development cycle.
Oh and one more thing, To the people that keep showing the shiny D2 armor; those are pre-rendered sprites! Using those kind of effects in a real-time 3D engine are expensive and need to be optimized for the game to run well. That's not to say that certain shaders can't, and won't be used in Diablo3, hwoever they will probably be used sparingly and where needed.

Well lets see, the barb in D2 wore a fishnet body suit under his armor and giant winged helms. However I don't remember any pie throwing or clowns. Diablo2 was still serious, and I'm assuming since Diablo3's story revolves around Hell, Heaven, and the survival of the beings of sanctuary I think it will be a pretty serious game. I dunno though, A pie throwing skill would be pretty cool.

Oh noes! look at the size of the horns on that belt! It's so unrealistic I hate it! Whhhhaaaaa. I want realism! Whhhaaaaaa.

I actually think that blizzard will add more shaders and materials to the armor and weapons as the game nears completion. I think this can be done with a minimal rise in min-spec machine requirments and can add a lot of texture and life to the environments and items. The reason why I think this will happen is simple:
A. This is something that would be added later on in the development cycle
b. Even WoW has simple specularity on some items, thus I believe we can expect to see at least see some shiney/dull metals on items.

It doesn't take much brain power to decide if something is worth carrying around or not. All this really means is that if I want to carry around some larger items but needed room for smaller items, I would go to town and drop off the larger items to my stash then come back.
The only thing Tertis really did for me was annoy me every time I had to rearrange my inventory and make me go to town a bit more. I don't consider this to be "dynamic" or fun in any way, but I know some people really like this feature, I just don't understand why, other than for nostalgia reasons.
