yea pm me if u want ill show u on east nl

So, alright let me get this straight. I bind a skill to say F1.. then to cast that spell I just have to hit F1. I could have sworn that I could only bind the skill to F1 but had to click my left or right mouse button to actually use it. Have I been wrong all these years?! GASP!

posted a message on Unique items should be a lot rarer
Uniques in general may have not been that uncommon, however the top tier uniques were for the most part very rare. I like having unique items drop of bosses. You know your going to get something special when you see that gold text on your screen, it was always a rush before you Identified them. I think drop rates for unique items were done perfectly in Diablo2.

Unique items dropped a decent amount, but really high level uniques had a very slim chance to drop. This drop rate allows for the satisfaction of achieving unique items during normal play troughs, but only really having a chance at the best uniques after lots of time spent playing the hardest and highest levels of the game. Of course you could always just get lucky :) which is also pretty exciting for the player as well.

It's funny how people say things like "Of course there will be kids they will all come over from WoW!" 90% of the people I play with on WoW are 18 years and older.

Also, if I remember correctly, I was a kid when I started playing Diablo1. I must have been around 15 years old, and I still have fond memories of that game. Actually, the Diablo series and Blizzard's cutscenes were some of the major reasons I wanted to become a 3D artist and work on video games when I got out of high school.

Thats like "10/10 is impossible, so 6/10 is enaugh."

    Wheres 8 or 9?

It CAN be drastically better for the biggest part and the ones who like it currently arent going to be disappointed with the changes either.

Thats pretty much possible without all that much change in the general art direction but only some details etc..

Alright again, I believe that this game is already an 8, a 9, or maybe even a 10 if they add the changes/features that Jay Willison mentioned in that interview. If they made the game more like those photoshopped images it would lose points with me, maybe then it would be a 7, 8 at best in my opinion.

The problem is, Kenzai is that style is very subjective. So while you think that they could make the game better for almost everyone by changing the art style, that is just your opinion and probably not the majorities. So while you and a few others try to justify change by saying it's essentially for the greater good, all your really doing is trying to project your opinions about the game as some sort of fact, by basing it on the pure speculation that more people will like the graphics than not, by making them darker and grittier.

As far as the other features I listed as being huge improvements over the other games. You may not agree with me, but then again I don't agree with you. So we'll just have to agree to disagree.

hmm i dotn see how this would be any different or more effective than diablo2... like on my hdin i use z as hammer x as conc c as charge v as vigor a as tele s as medi d as cleanse umm... its basically skill bar on your keyboard wich is very easy... lol im just confused as to how it makes it better :)

So in diablo2 if you have "z as hammer x as conc c as charge v as vigor a as tele", when you click any one of those hotkeys will it automatically cast the spell?

Alright, I under stand that you could hot key skills to a keyboard in Diablo2, but you had to still use the skills by clicking your left and right mouse button respectively.

Now why I think the skill bar is going to be a huge upgrade, is because I'm under the impression that I can now cast my skills with not only my left and right mouse buttons but also with the key-binds of my choosing. Meaning simply that I can quickly and effectively use a number of skills in a much more fluid and rapid succession than what was ever possible in D2, this is the true beauty of introducing a skill bar into the game.

So lets say the graphics are good and everything else sucks. Youll be happy with it because theres something you like.
Orsomehow like our case (IMO): The gameplay is kickass but graphics suck hard, you wont care?

Someone will most probablt say "hyperbole" or something now, but i think the point should be obvious.

One good feature isnt really going to cover the bad components of the game.

And as always: Why "good"? ...

    It can be "perfect". ;)

Yes, yes i know what you think now. "Its already perfect and everything you say about it being imperfect is your opinion blah blah..."
Unfortunately some big amount of people share those opinions. More or less.

Listen, I'm not saying it will please everyone, and I'm also not saying that the game is perfect. There is no way to make a game perfect for everyone, it is impossible.

However I feel that what has been made know about the game will make D3 vastly superior to Diablo2 in pretty much every way. There are so many good ideas and features that are being developed for this title I find it hard to believe that Diablo3 is going to be a disappointment. People may be disappointed in the art direction now but when they get to the slaughtering of hellish legions I think this will quickly be alleviated.

I don't want this to turn into an art discussion, but I think arguing the art is a mute point at this time. Blizzard is not going to change to art style, so I'm trying to encourage people to look at other facets of the game that are truly great, and that will make the game all that much more enjoyable to play. Blizzard has also said that they want the game to show a visual progression to dark, and hellish as you play through the game. I believe when it's all said and done, all of the art critics are going to be silenced, and in awe.

Yes these are assumptions to some extent, but I'd like to think that my assumptions are dead on :).

With all the great things mentioned in the interview, I find it hilarious that so many people only seem to focus on the negative, if you can call it that.

    Corpses staying longer

More detail added to the textures

Fully realized PvP system thats not just tacked on

    Shared inventory/trading system

    Random and unique scripted events/quests

    Rag-doll physics

actually being able to see detailed, unique looking equipment on your character in game.

    blood spray

Skill bar instead of potion bar. (come on did you really like D2's skill system?)

No potion spamming (again did you really like potion spamming as an element of gameplay?)

Dismemberment of your character at death. (I know this was only done for that trailer, but they said they want to add it into the game.)

Interesting, dynamic boss fights requiring strategy.

And Insight, and Spirit, and Treachery, and Peace.

Then stuff like Obedience etc as middle of the road...

NOTHING wrong with runewords AT ALL, everything wrong with duping.

As for D3, I can see them taking a leaf out of Hellfire's book for runes. Turning them into one use spells (like scrolls in other games), or one use temp stat boosts.

Hmmm.. maybe runes are going to be used to enchant our gear? I.E. minor rune of strength +5 strength to any type of armor... so forth.

    Quote from "Cephei" »
I do hope Teleport will be back, it was awesome.

You can always make a tp for party members,
And it would be cool if a runeword came back with teleport on it, like Enigma.

Yeah this was so cool back in diablo2! Everyone could just zip around the screen with their Dupped Rune words! It made duels much more dynamic, and the game much more interesting IMO.

Teleport made the game far more enjoyable, because I really didn't have to waste any time fighting mobs or doing anything really except Teleport around the map, find the boss and take all the loot!

I think teleport needs to be in D3 because without it the gameplay would be slow and boring, and I wouldn't be able to zip around the screen and kill people without the fear of dying. I think teleport was the best part of D2 and if blizzard doesn't bring this feature back to at least one of the classes in D3 I will refuse to buy it. Without teleport it can't be called diablo IMO.

The graphic style of the game will not change, the color will not change, the brightness with not change, so you'll have to learn to live with it if you want to play Diablo3.

Blizzard did recently announce that they will be adding more texture/detail to the environments to make them look less clean, and I think this announcement will appease some of the haters out there. Depending on how they incorporate these details and the methods they use, it could make a rather significant change to the visual quality of the game. I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

The shoulder pad issue is dead, maybe they'll make them smaller, maybe not, but everything that needs to be said has been said 1000000x over about this. I don't think it will end up being a big deal at all, and I also don't think that the Witch Doctor even wears shoulder-pads, at least you don't see them in the screen-shots. Who knows, the Barbarian could be the only class in the game with shoulder pads, or at least shoulder pads that size.

As far as the game being to bright, I think I would rather see more of the environment than just a radius of light around me. That being said I'm sure their will be "darker" areas, both conceptually and literally in the game. Blizzard has said in numerous interviews now that they want to show a visual progression towards more dark and disturbed environments as you play through the game.

is it true that we will not se ANY shiny hard metal looking items?
no swords will look like shiny metal?
no armor will be hard metal looking?

    everything is dull soft handpainted?

Depends on if they put different materials/shaders on items and the environment before release. These things all take a fair share of GPU power to render though, so it may not make it into the game.
