posted a message on Diablo III's Fallen Shaman Spotted?
I'm pretty sure that the fallen were always more like weakling gremlin things, more mischievous than any real threat.

I never imagined them as being vile demons of the burning hells, but more of the impish jesters of the diablo universe.

If that is in fact a Fallen shaman from D3, I'd say thats a pretty actuate representation of how they look, and I think I'll use my leap attack to gib that thing instantaneously, then lol.

I don't think there are going to be mercs like in D2. If anything mercs will probably just be temporary to help you in a particular fight and will most likely just be cannon fodder like in the game play Demo. I could be wrong but in any case I wouldn't miss them.

I don't think this merger is going to have any real impact on Blizzards development of games, other than the fact that if Blizzard ever made a console game, Activation has a lot of experience in the console market and would likely be a big help.

Diablo would never work as an MMO. Have any of you played one? The server load would be tremendous, nigh catastrophic. You couldn't have enough shitterlings for everyone to kill unless you drastically reduced the kill speed, and then it just wouldn't be the same game at all.

I agree with you here, however that will likely not always be the case in the future.

posted a message on World of Diablo
This is my post from an old thread, however I thought I would repost it here. This is my take on how a Diablo MMO might work.

The only way.. and I mean only way D3 could be a good and I mean Awesome MMORPG is if you kept the gameplay fast: No auto attack, no specific class rolls, 1 player can take on hordes of monster at a time, quick casting skills, twitchy combat, use physics in combat. 3rd person.

It would need a massive open World with constant seiges on player cities in the game by demons, and players constantly reclaiming territory from the demons as well. This way the face of the world is ever changing and places that were once safe could fall and become corrupted. So dynamicly changing enviroments to refect this.

You would need to have 100+ pleople on screen at once.. 200+ to really drive the idea home in segies.

Of course dungeons would be a big part of the game, and there would be tons of them.. not like WoW though. These dungeons would be swarming with the undead and or hellish demons in huge quantities. Can solo dungeons or fight with others. Once your in the dungeon concider your self aggroed, and prepare ot wade into the entrails of your foes. In other words super bloody, gore. Also use dynamic lighting and really make the dungeons frightening.

The PvP aspect could be that certain races or cultures still don't like one another desptie their uneasy truces to fight the demons in the game.

Parts of the game could take place in Hell and heaven, depending on who is winning or losing the war you would either be defending heaven from an invasion from Hell, or leading an army backed by high Angels to slay the lords of Hell. This is obviously what the end game or later levels would consist of.

The ability to place your owns stats.

The healing system would be like the one in D3 with the health orbs since there would be limited amount of potions, which would make the dungeons and battles very intense since people will most likely die and be dismembered :).

    HARDCORE REALMS anyone?

    Classes go without saying.

    Random loot, etc...

Everything else is up for grabs, but would obviously be based of the Diablo series and not WoW.

posted a message on Reasons why PK should stay in D3. A detailed analysis (long)
Listen, if Pking isn't going to be in the game then we will have to slaughter each other in PvP. Obviously from Blizzards response to Pking, they don't seem to like it or "lawless chaos" so your best bet is to own noobs in PvP.

So man up and get ready to get owned over and over by my hand in PvP. Instead of crying like a baby about how you can't randomly kill people in public games, why don't you try calling me a carebear in a PvP game after I string a nice necklace from all the ears you'll be giving me. That is of course if you are still going to play the game which, even without Pking, I bet you will.

I never really cared one way or another about Pking in D2 though I did like dueling others. However, some of you sure do talk tough, so lets see how well that tough talk translates to PvP in Diablo3.

posted a message on Potions and Health Orbs
I think whether potions end up with timers, if they do instant healing, or healing over time will have a lot to do with balancing the game play to find that perfect balance between to easy, to hard, and just hard enough :). So far I think the inclusion of health orbs do add a nice strategic element to the game, and I didn't care for potion spamming all that much, so for me at least, these changes are a welcomed addition.

i feel like a loser when i say it but i connect on a whole new level with diablo.

it was my first real video game, ever. Diablo introduced me to the internet pretty much. nothing compares to the satisfaction of running outside of town and brawling it out in a free for all with 5 different people and killing every single one of them 1 after another.

    NNNOOOTTHHING

NO not even the dropping of your bullshit legendary weapons on wow, its nothing to compare to the feeling that you tested your wits against 5 other people and still came out ontop.

the RPG category needs a new champion of pvp games and Diablo III is the perfect game for the job.

i hope blizzard doesnt fuck up and Diablo III is still apart of the Diablo series, because if i buy Diablo 3 and theres no hostile button on my party screen i am personaly never considering Diablo III apart of the real Diablo franchise that the brutaly genious game designers conjured many years ago.

Well I thought I should just add this: I am a huge fan of the Diablo series and I think change is good and needed for this series to thrive and stay successful over the years to come. That being said, I can't wait to find out more about the PvP system they plan to implement, and as far as PKing is concerned.. meh, makes little difference to me weather its in the game or not. I will admit though that I am not a fan of griefing and generally PKing someone takes no real skill. However we know very little about how PvP will work in Diablo3 so its probably a good idea not to start getting enraged until we have a good reason to.

BTW Blizzard already stated that Pk is not going to be in Diablo3

I worry that some douchebag exec at Activision is gonna ruin Blizzard by forcing them to make crappy console games. I smell the end of Blizzard's reign at the top of PC gaming.

don't worry Blizzard has, and always will have complete autonomy. They under no ones thumb. Well except maybe their fans.

Why regret signing the petition? lets face it Blizzard isn't going redo Diablo at this stage and make is ultra realistic, I personally rather like the stylized nature of quite a lot of it as it is. What the petition might achieve though is them rethinking the things that even you admit look a bit silly, those things like the caricatured, over done armor and bright green instead of ambient more realistic lighting. The petition almost certainly won't change Diablo totally, but it might change it in a good direction, a direction that even some that like the art think would be good.

I don't mind some of the changes that are being suggested but definitely don't agree with the color changes, and desaturation.

Actually, I'm more then pleased with that blizz-response.
ofcourse I can see why respec is a good thing, but it also eleminates the point of replayment somewhat... Its just not right to make a character and then if u change ur mind a silly charge of something-something and a click away and you got a totally new char-spec

    but that just my opinion

yeah and its the only place where you can get blizz-response... and people wonders why we're so worried that WoW will influense d3 too much...:offtopic:

hahaha, in all seriousness though, there have been blizzard responses on the battle.net forums.

because theres a whole diablo3 discussion forum on the WoW forums solely dealing with Diablo3, just like on the Battle.net forums.

posted a message on D3 Looting Drops explained
This is a very good way to distribute the loot fairly without everything turning into a click fest, bitch fest. I agree that the old system worked fine if you only played on-line with friends, but This makes it possible to play in random games with random people and not have to worry about never getting any loot.
