posted a message on For trading in D3
No soulbound stuff, but bind on equip may be a possibility. I think the question here is whether the trading system interface will be part of battle.net or an in-game system. I vote for in-game, maybe a "marketplace". Either way it will probably use some kind of battle.net system underneath to find buyers/sellers, right?

Yeah it will be interesting to see if they use the same level types from D1, dungeon, catacombs, lava caves, hell-type. But it could just be the fire from the meteor, it's kind of hard to tell at this point.

Something like that would be a nice addition. It seems like Blizzard is working on in-game ways to more easily trade. I think I would prefer it to be in the game actually, with a better interface.

Still it could happen in battle.net chat and if it does I'm sure it will be better than the previous version. I guess we'll have to see what's released with the new version this year.

Ahhh, this is turning into the Diablo/Tyreal thread...So I'll re-post my theory here too.

Baal corrupted the worldstone with Diablo's Essence, much like a soulstone. When Tyrael shattered it, it was fused with him and eventually corrupts him over the course of 20 years. He is rejected from the heavens as the "harbinger of doom" meteor and crashes into the cathedral. But he can't be the Act I boss, so he must escape to Act4 somehow (Like the wanderer in D2). It could explain why Belial and Azmodon are now in sanctuary now too, the more powerful D has reclaimed his throne.

Act I - Mistress of Pain (King Leoric as a mini-boss)
    Act II - Belial
    Act III - Azmodan
    Act IV - Diablo/Tyrael fusion
Expansion - Imperius or something so cool we don't even know about it

posted a message on Merc system ideas
I would like to be able to control the AI of the merc, even if it's just a little. Something like the grids you see in older RPGs (like secret of mana) where you get to choose their level of aggression, whether they are offensive or defensive on a sliding scale of 1-10 would work for me. If that's too much, then maybe just check boxes. Anything to keep my squishy merc from charging into head-first into battle while still naked...

posted a message on Diablo Baby Names
I was talking with my wife about baby names and I was trying to think of ways to legitimately incorporate something Diablo related without her really knowing it. I would never name a kid, Mephisto Pindleskin (despite it being awesome), so it would have to be a little less obvious.

I seriously considered Cain, maybe as a middle name.

    Any other suggestions?

    HA, nice!

I don't remember hearing that sound in D1 though. Is that just one of several phrases he says?

posted a message on Diablo III Coming in "Next Few Years"
I'm really hoping that the lists shown here are not chronological. If the Starcraft Expansion comes out before D3, I might have to commit myself.

Also, why is battle.net on there twice? It's slated for an upgrade in 2010 (for starcraft) we know that, but why does it appear again in the "next few years" column?

    Quote from "ScyberDragon" »
Both of your options do what Blizzard is trying to avoid. Having to run back takes away fun game time. They are changing the systems to keep the pace of the game always exciting. Therefore, they have to change the penalty to something that doesn't tale away from the action.

It's not really my option. This is how Blizzard is planning on handling it, sending you back to the last checkpoint, away from the action and your team when you die. Right? Unless I'm missing something here.

If you want a penalty for dying, just play hardcore.

Anyways, there are a number of ways they could incorporate penalties into this system:
    1. You lose time. They may have these checkpoints spaced very far apart and running between them (with out without respawns) will be something you will try to avoid. Also, if you die right at a checkpoint after respawning, it could push you back even further.
    2. If you are running with a team, you are now separated from the team or they have to rez you. Either they wait for you or you have to try to run back to them and catch up. So your team will be annoyed with you because they now have to wait, or you miss out on some of the action. Either way, it's a penalty.

I don't like the idea of losing XP or gear or other things you've earned. It's not fun and I don't like things that aren't fun. If they need to take away something else, make a ranking system or something that's not directly related to gameplay. Then every one will know you suck before you start ;)

    posted a message on resistance
Immunities would not have been an issue at all if Synergy wasn't introduced into the game with it. Immunities require that you take more than one damage type, while synergies require that you put all of your points in one tree to get the max effect. It was really a poor decision on Blizzards part. They should have just made all skills viable at end game without the need to dump even more points into skills we don't want.

It would make more sense if she was bald. They are probably doing it so she can be better differentiated from the male monk. But, she won't have a huge man beard, so I think that's enough, isn't it?

The term instability is confusing. The wizard is gathering and storing instability for later use? I think calling it entropy would make more sense. Unless they are referring to mental instability...then that works.

I'm sure there will be an explanation for this somewhere

edit: Oh, I see, you are thinking the meter is going up with skill use, not down...ok, I'll buy it.

Deckard is not listed in Act3 and 5 above, but it for all the others.

Also, if we are to include the angels in Act4, there's another one by the river of flame waypoint. The one that says, "proceed hero into terror's layer..." can't think of his name.
