    LOL!

Yay! Video editing! This is my field!

Well you see Kenzai, you are wrong as usual. He was talking about the dynamic lighting that a game engine creates. That is vastly different than taking a video and throwing a video filter (which is an after product - hence the term POST production in the editing field). I'm sure he knows that the dev team could change the colors to darker hues and shades, he addressed that in a different answer when explaining the art direction that you probably failed to read as well. What he was saying the lighting in the manipulated shots was impossible and improbable to achieve with their video game engine.

Again, I'll take their word for it instead of the kid on the Diablo Fans forums who , again, thinks he can make better games than Blizzard.

So you see, taking video and adding video filters/manipulating colors is just as easy as doing it to a photoshopped picture. It has nothing to do with the same degree of manipulation it would take to code a engine to Produce such things.

Also, He doesn't have to say anything now. If anything these Diablo Devs joke about the online petition you signed over their lunch break.

    Thank you.

I wanted to say something to this effect, but I didn't want to piss off someone who was in this field if I didn't word it correctly.

    High five!

will it seam that alot of you have some brain malfunction
as the other forume members said pirated games can be played online with Hamachi
that IF you dont have access to working serials WHICH is not the case here i have some working serials so you are THE ONLY ASS I FOUND TELL NOW

Also what realy made me love diablo francise is the LORE and the STORY and SINGLE PLAYER NOT THE BATTLE NET

THEN the gameplay(including all aspect of the game like: GRAPHICS,GAME MECHANICS,and yea the LAN and BATTLE NET even if not so important to me ) should have a standared agood one
and any one with brain and eyes(even one eye) will notice that diablo3 veered from the franchise in many aspects like :GRAPHICS,GAME MECHANICS
will at lest thats what we saw tell now who knows whats will happen next (this is true of course)
BUT i am not so optimistic
EVEN SO i liked the new GAME MECHANICS (aside from the orbs thingy and the bad INVENTORY) BUT this is not enough

AND PLEASE DONT REPEAT THAT BLIZZARD FOLKS IS TRUSTWORTHY AND KNOW WHAT THEY ARE DOING
THEY ARE NOT ANGELS OR FROM HEAVENS THEY ARE PEOPLE LIKE YOU SO THEY NEED TO ASK FANS
AND KNOW WHAT THEY WANT FROM THE GAME (((AND THE MOST IMPORTANT THING TO PEOPLES
WHO REPEAT THIS CRAP YOU ARE NOT THEIR LAWYERS
    )))

Caps Lock. Cruise control for Awesome.

But that's the thing about Blizzard. they aren't just one person. It's a team. They bounce ideas off of each other and they constantly teast and hone each other's strengths, and build-up weaknesses. Think of them like a panel of supreme court justices. One alone may not seem fair or just, but together they are justice, fair and true.

    Ha.

    You think D3 looks cel-shaded.

    That's funny. I mean...REALLY. Rich.

And the idea that you'd think I'd need to look it up. Even funnier.

As if I need to look it up to know how wrong you are. It would seem as though YOU need to re-acquaint yourself with the definition.

Diablo 2 is to Ocarina of Time as Diablo 3 is to The Wind Waker

You're saying they're both great games?

Oh wait. You must be saying D3 is cartoony.

    How droll.

I get don’t what this massive controversy is all about, I mean a health-orb – it’s going to make the game better, they never said potions would be replaced by these. What makes a magical-life-like-essence so unthinkable in a world run by magic and demons, again I just think people are bitter because they’re not getting a D2 clone. That goes for the inventory Tetris debate, people are saying that it’s repulsive and terrible, but how? They have no valid argument.

    Agreed once again.

I think a bunch of the butthurt stems from the fact that it's simply not D2 in 3D.

D2 was a logical progression from D1, and as such D3 should make leaps and bounds as well.

Don't want to hold back progress!

How are orbs crazy and outer spacish? They're clearly spectral, they make more sense than let's say a health potion dropping out of mummy's ass.

Agreed. They can be explained in any manner of ways, from an embodiment of the demon's life force, to orbs full of rich, tasty courage.

    Lazy Town FTW.

But more on-topic, I actually think the orbs are a cool addition. I'm sure plenty of us will never pay them much mind once we being to get more play-time; it will just become like second-nature to pick them up when we're low.

I suppose it's part convenience, part evolution of the Diablo gameplay.

    Very good read.

He clearly states any and everything that would be wrong with making D3 look like these 'shopped pics.

Just gives less ammo to the crowd who like to think Blizzard had no reasons whatsoever.

What about health orbs. That is part of the art direction. I dont want to look at red floating globes that you run over for health arcade style.

Where is the lore behind it? Where do they come from? Why put it into a fantasy game?

They just threw them in diablo 3 without considering any better ideas or looks?

    Correction:

Health orbs are not part of art direction, they are exclusively a part of gameplay.

The only part the art department has a say over health orbs is how they look.

"Wilson also assured me that the environments will get darker as the game progresses (what’s out now are early stages of the game), and the team is still in the process of “smattering the world with dead bodies and horrific skeletons and things like that” along the way."

I wish I had seen that quote before.

Edit: Just saw your post Dead_Metal, but i kinda already answered it in this post.
If they want to create contrast without even a slightest change in the environment (very beatiful), they have a to work a lot on the monster models and animations as they dont stand out of the natural environment.

I hate to say it, but that's just more of you and me disagreeing because of our opinions.

I'm sure plenty of people will believe both of our arguments, but I suppose it's more of the "wait and see" game until we get more screens and videos.

    Wow. Just wow you guys.

    Firstly, Kenzai:

While I understand and respect your position on the matter, I suppose it merely boils down to our differing views and tastes as far as what is "contrast". Personally I think that the beauty of a field that is filled with the undead is very stark contrast, whereas you feel that there should be some corruption shown. Taking into account the whole "from Apocalypse to more Apocalypse" quote, we may see corruption run more and more rampant the further we venture.

    Secondly:

Jesus you guys. Calm down. I know we're all very passionate about Blizzard's next big game, but we need to tone down the rag just a little bit.

Flame wars won't get us anywhere. Show a little respect for the people you are debating with, even if you think they are a brain-dead moron.

If you didn't notice already, there was absolutely no restraint. Full saturation of oranges, yellows, reds, greens, blues, browns, purples... you name it, it's there.

    Wrong.

Full saturation of those colors would mean that your screen would be filled with nothing but giant blobs of color.

I can't speak for your monitor, but something must be lost in translation here.

And even if all the colors ARE being used, it doesn't mean that they're full saturation. IT just means they're present.

I think you're confusing saturation with simple existence.
