You guys are not even funny. Of course there will be an OPTION.

Even if they do not include it in a moment of madness (but they said they will), you will still be able to turn it on specifically for that game from your GPU control panel (99% cards support drivers that do that).

That's the most retarded thing I heard this month.

And he did not say that.

I agree, there is no reason for them not to include an option to turn AA on. Why should they decide what my computer is capable of rendering? If my computer is powerful enough to process AA (Which really isn't a big deal with most newer cardes anyways now) why shouldn't I have the option to enable it?

I feel that mots companies that leave this option out are just being lazy and force me to turn it on manually, which I find to be just a bit of a pain. It doesn't matter in the end of course because you can always force AA through your video cards profile system. Whether its ATI or Nvidia it doesn't matter.

I don't think Blizzard is lazy enough to not include an AA option. I would also hope they would include an AF option, but for some reason not many games include that one either. I don't get it really.

You've no idea what you are talking about, do you?

First of all. Diablo 2 had a lot of passives. Refresh your memory. The Barb in D2 had a tree that was entirely made out of passives. You couldn't even spec in it since it didn't have any abilities.

Second, Diablo 3 DOES have trees. Skill tress. Three of them. And each of them is mostly riddled with active skills (which can't be said for D2).

Third, WoW DOESN'T have skill trees. You learn the skills through a completely separate mechanic, and talent trees don't have 'a lot of passives' they are essentially entirely made of passives. A single talent tree gives you one to two active skills if you spec deep enough into them, which is enough to completely turn a class around in a different direction.

So the sentiment of D3 skill trees sharing anything in common with WoW talent trees is entirely made up and false.

The WoW talent trees were copied from the D2 Skill system, and anyone who can't see that is just crazy. It's just that the WoW team took it in a different direction because their skill system was already implemented. Not to mention there were certain skills you had to put points into the talent tree to unlock I.E. Trueshot Aura.

Most of the talents in the WoW talent tree system were ment to increase the effectiveness of skills you already had, and it seems D3 is taking that from WoW. Like I had said in my previous post it's better to increase a skills effectiveness or its utility rather than just using the synergy system because under a WoW/TQ system you are more likely to use the earlier skills.

And like I had also said TQ used a similar system where as certain skills in their sill tree increase the effectiveness of the previous skill. It worked out great as the skill system is what set TQ a part from other D2 clones at the time.

The D3 team is obviously taking that idea from the WoW talent tree and morphing it to work with the Diablo game play, but to say they have nothing in common is just an asinine statement, in my opinion.

In this case I think the talent tree system, further developed in WoW, would work perfect in place of synergies. Titan Quest did this as well. Have skills that improve another skill. It makes those minor skills useful as well as give you a reason to invest points in them.

I.E. Charged bolt by itself was a pretty useless skill for a sorc at higher levels, but what if you could invest points in another ability that allows your charge bolt a chance to stun. Now charged bolt will be useful again, if not for the damage than at least for the chance to stun.

Some people hate that D3 certainly does have a WoW influence along with past Diablo games, but there are systems that WoW built up that will work in mainstream RPG's. Also Titan Quest used this same system and it worked great.

In some ways I would prefer a Craigs List-type ad system.

Someone posts an item that they want to sell and people are allowed to offer anything they want for the item. One person could get multiple offers for the same item. They log on the next day and choose which offer they want.

If for some reason the person who offered an item no longer has the item or has money to pay for it than it will shoot back an error and he goes on to the next offer that was given to him.

posted a message on Bringing back the barb good or bad?
I think it was a good idea because the BARB was in the middle of everyone. The staple class.

See, always bring back the class that's in the middle of the character selection screen. You would be stupid not to!!!

In all honesty I think I would have to sort of agree with what the devs had been talking about though. The barbarian is a class that could have been improved upon immensely in Diablo 2, so why not bring those changes over into a game where he can be a contender while at the same time being the awesome melee class he is suppose to be. Maybe I am just rambling, but those are my thoughts at least.

Are you trying to confuse me into agreeing with you? I'm going to have to ignore the bomb you just dropped and stick to the one part that makes sense: attribute system hindered the customization of classes. The attribute system lets us customize our classes however we want. No attribute system automates our classes for us. Customization good. Automation bad. Let's keep it simple.

I think what he meant was that the stat system weighed far to heavily on the system as a whole rather than your characters actual customization being drawn from many different areas.

It gives a false sense of customization. Sort of like thinking that locking your car will actually deter thieves from robbing it.

I have only played a little bit of Diablo 3 so I do not know how the stat system will play out, nor do we have any idea of what other systems of customization Blizzard is actually going to be implementing in Diablo 3 as a whole. All I know is that the if the stat system is off-shifted towards gear and less through static point allocation I will be a happy camper. Diablo should be a game that relies more on gear than stat points.

And to point out what many others have said. Even though D2 offered stat point allocation everyone basically picked the same builds anyways and there was never any customization. If anyone wanted to try something off beat then they were gimped beyond belief. In the end I think manual stat allocation, at least in Diablo's case, lessened customization among classes. It just happend to work with the system that Diablo 1 and 2 had implemented, but it doesn't seem like it would have worked with D3 which is fine with me.

Oh, and to those who said people need to fail to learn. There is nothing fun about realising that the character you have been leveling for weeks has just been fucked up because you allocated his stats or skills "wrong", and now have to re-level the same character just to be on par with other players or the difficulty. It is extremely redious and actually takes away from the replabitiy because no one likes to do the same thing twice, thats boring. In WoW I remember doing the beginner human quests about 15 million times and it prevented me from making another human character simply because I felt I was going to puke if I ever had to do it again.

There is one thing to letting a person fail and start from the bottom, and letting a person fail but giving them a helping hand. One sucks, and one is better and slightly more fun. Not to mention the fact that this is not the real world and people play games to get away from the real world. This is why FPS's offer check points and allow you to save if you die, and RPG's offer you save points. No one wants to go back to the arcade days of having to sit and play an entire game of Super Mario Land in one sitting because if you die or turn the game off you have to start over. No one likes to fail... and games don't need to teach that lesson.

posted a message on diablo 3 stat possibilities..
There needs to be some type of intelligence or willpower stat otherwise there would be no way to differentiate between casters and melee types. If there was no intelligent stat you would need to ask why a barbarian cant cast the same spells as a sorceress, or why a druid can't summon the dead. Sure a class difference help, but at the same time one would imagine it would take more concentration to summon a spell than it would be to simply rush into an enemy and hit them. Intelligence in a game usually does not mean IQ, but simply a measure of concentration in a sense. While willpower simply means what it does... the will to do something, and usually takes the form of spell resistance. At least that is what I have seen.

    Lame.

Yes... you figured it all out in the matter of one sentence. Conglaturations! Enjoy Diablo 2!

Now as for leech. I would have to see exactly how the game plays out since the way it is going to play is going to be different from the previous Diablo games.

posted a message on Curious ending in D2 advert
When looking at the Diablo 2 advertisement I came across this one from 98

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1lu2N3DZS0Y

Beyond being amazing I don't remember this cinematic in the game at all. More beyond that is the curious ending in this advertisement. Now it would be weird to see something like the traveler leaving behind a piece of what looks like the blood stone behind, because its so damn important maybe. It could also simply be an advertising thing.

What would happen if a piece of Diablo soulstone was left behind somewhere? What if you didn't destroy every piece after you killed him in hell.

Or maybe it was simply for advertising sakes and it means absolutely nothing :)

Some people wouldn't be able to play it. This is really where Blizzard has learned a good lesson. They are able to bring their game to a broad audience while making it look good and the requirements low.

No internet access? Could have fooled me with that post.

I never used LAN so I really don't care, and most games hardly include LAN at all anymore. Sorry for people who did use LAN though.

I was thinking, why not let the people who are against the shoulder pads add in a special option. Basically whenever you would do an action that would make the shoulderpads hit your head your character would say 1 of 2 phrases:

    1) I can't do that right now
    2) Ouch... That ****in HURT!!

Oh yes... that would be wonderful. Realism and large shoulder pads, and that's a great combination :P
