I've noticed little to no mention of anyone using Maximus for higher GRs? Any particular reason for this? It has served me quite well up to 36, the extra fire chain damage has been awesome when the demon hangs back and i'm still pushing forward. I don't know how much good it would do in the 40's, haven't been playing as much over the last couple months, it's been all about Hearthstone :D

It's supposed to be possible, but I believe they reduced the rate when they upped the drop rate from kills. I've spent around 600, most of it on 5 cost chests, and no luck so far.

Exactly. For the most part, I stopped even reading game reviews many years ago. They rarely seem to be accurate, and game reviewers barely scratch the surface of the games. By all rights, though, how could they? Think about all the games they have deadlines to have reviewed by. They can only cover so much ground. The only thing reviews are good for is to give you a very basic idea of gameplay, story and content.

Mind what Bagstone said about applications. They will not be on a first come, first served basis. Post it when you can.

Also, no need to post any messages requiring to be reinvited in this thread, as these won't be used (we want to focus everything on a single thread).

Third, some of the more active people on the past 2 weeks, that we've seen forming groups and chatting, have a very high chance of not being removed from the clan on the wipe. The intent is not to remove the players who have been using the clan, just the majority of inactive, isolated players who are not really using the clan for anything.

    Quote from ErogeGamer

how active do you have to be ? lm on almost every day but l play self-find/solo play is my slot in the can gone now because l like solo play more then g-play ?
We won't require that you're forming groups with the clan ALL THE TIME, that would be really stupid. Players sometimes wanna do their own thing, sometimes they want to play with other friends. But in general, the idea here is that we want the clan to be a great place for players to easily group up with others, even when their friends are not online. And we can't have that if 90% of the members are always farming on their own, can we? =|

Farming together is faster, benefits hugely from the Strenght in Numbers buff, allows people to trade legendaries, and is most of the time a more enjoyable experience that allows for some cool skill combos. So we really want clan members to make a conscient effort in playing coop with clanmates.
I hate to say it, but this right here will most likely kick me out of the clan. I don't play a ton of groups. I have a family that includes a 3yr old Son, whom is my life and if he needs Daddy then he comes first. Even if I'm in the middle of a group run. So to cause the least amount of disruption to others I tend to go solo unless I'm on late and he is in bed.

If that means Im no longer a good fit for the clan, I understand. I will still try to stay as active on the website as I can.
Don't feel bad, you're not the only one; I have a 7 year old, and particularly on my days off, I do the same thing. I try to stay somewhat active by talking to people, answering questions, etc., but when I am playing D3 with someone, it's generally with my girlfriend sitting right next to me. Like you said, though, no worries; there's plenty of other clans out there that won't require some decent level of group forming. We're all here to enjoy the game our own way, I'm not worried about complicating it with how others want me to play the game. Best of luck to you guys, and may RNG shine on you :D

posted a message on Legendary Drops
I have gotten the vast majority of my legendaries from bosses and elites, with a very small number from chests and treasure goblins. And yes, I open all chests I come across :P I have yet to get any from breakables or trash mobs, although I did just get a legendary plan from a trash mob today, completely surprised me. That's just RNG for you. It's the same RNG that's gotten me 3 Tal Rasha helms, 3 TR sources, 3 TR belts, and 2 TR ammies, while others are still struggling to get their third piece. It's the curse of Diablo RNG, but it's part of what brings us all back again and again.

    Quote from Enty

It's going to be 3AM EDT, 12 PDT because that's how it was for D3, HoTS, Every WoW expac, SC2, WoW and probably every online Blizzard release after WoW. It won't change now, "shortly after release" in the scope of things could be a day later, it'd still be shortly after release...
Nevalistis' blue post 5 days ago within the comments to the abovementioned blog clearly states 12 midnight EST, 9 pm PST. Looks like they're breaking the previous mold.

posted a message on Guartanteed Legendary from Diablo...worth resetting quests now?
    Quote from ratmaz313

The question is a moot point. Its Blizzard..after RoS drops in a few weeks all your gear comes CRAP!!! You're better farming for lvls until RoS drops. Sure you may have some bomb gear until lvl 62-63 but after that all your gear will be getting replaced with yellows again. Then lvl 70 hits and time to farm all over.
It's not about having amazing gear for release; that's a small side benefit that'll last, what, an hour after release? Personally, I'm doing it to toy around with builds. Theorycrafting is one thing; I want to see these items in action, change builds, etc. The only difference at 70 is one added ability (as far as builds go), and a couple of passives. I don't want to be doing that fresh at 70. The more legendaries I can get now, the better. Paragon levels are a nice perk, but without the carrot of a cap to chase now, I couldn't care less about them. They're an awesome bonus that I'll get just from playing the game, but there's no end to them. I can chase the white dragon now, or I can play around with a bunch of different items and see how I'm going to chase it later. In the end, I doubt that it really matters which way you go, to each their own.

    Quote from Kueken
And this is not even counting the fact, that while most areas are somewhat decently populated currently, there are still areas that offer a lot more chances of legendaries (aka packs, white chests, goblins) than others. If you run specifically those areas, you WILL get more legendarys compared to quest runs.
I would like to know what these areas are, then. I've done core, cota, warrior's rest, and keep farming since 2.0.1 came out, and none of them have netted a legendary average of 1 every 20 minutes. Maybe my RNG bad luck? I really don't know, I just know that this works for me. Hypothetically, could farming certain areas net more legendaries? Possibly, but I can't ignore the hard facts of numbers for a numerically-unsubstantiated, however logical, method that I have tried without similar success.

On a side note, the whole thing about speedrunning is to cover the empty/low-populated areas in a couple of seconds. Skills such as teleport: wormhole, diamond skin: sleek shell, are amazing at this. My entire build is devoted to movement, with the exception of 1 slot. That ton of time-consuming, inefficient stuff can be minimalized much more than some might think. Conversations I have become quite good at spacebarring and escaping through, and boss battles are as short as elite kills. There is downtime there, I'm not questioning that. It's just so minimal that I would equate it with the downtime others have in leaving and restarting their games. It's that small.

I don't know about it never being as efficient. Speedrunning is what I've been doing for the past week, and each clear of the story nets me minimum 4 legendaries, average of 5, and as many as 8. Each clear takes 90-120 minutes. I kill all elites and goblins I run across along the way and open chests very close to my path. Do Core runs, or any other runs for that matter, net a legendary every 20 minutes or less? And speedrunning isn't just skipping monsters; it's more about finding ways to kill them without stopping or slowing down. Some of these new legendaries are amazing for that, procs that damage when you get hit, such as Pox Faulds or Thundervigor.

posted a message on Thoughts on latest PTR/Beta

That's about the same rate I'm getting aspect farming T2, I just can't stand to do it for much more than an hour. It's cool to see the new items, but I think most of the broken stuff is well known by now. It's up to Blizz to fix stuff at this point, then I'll go back to testing more.

Very interesting build. I have seen it in action and it is great. We have to do this with four wizards next time. ;)

I did something similar to this when I first hit the PTR. SoJ, Skull Grasp, Oculus, and Mara's to reduce the cost. It's awesome, but I've fallen in love with Sleet Storm and Archon all over again, I think. Cinder coat pushes Meteor spam to a new level, though.

posted a message on A little Heart to Heart about RoS...
Further clarification from Travis Day, good news, imo:
Me again to clarify a couple things.

First off, Kadala is not meant to be the primary source of legendary items, she is meant as a self targeted supplement to the items you find from killing monsters. Diablo is an ARPG and killing monsters should always be the most rewarding thing to do. If Kadala is representing too large a portion of the incoming legendary items than I will address that. She's meant to be a bonus, not the primary loot acquiring mechanism. Second, the drop rates being "in the ballpark" means they aren't off by a factor of 10. The F&F drop rates were at least 5 times higher than what we were aiming for, and the current drop rates are probably likely within the 50-100% range. Again Kadala is meant to cover some of this ground and if she ends up covering more than we want her to we will reduce her chance to generate legendary items and shift the difference into the monsters. It's a big ballpark but from a top down look, it's not TOO far from where we want it to be.

posted a message on A little Heart to Heart about RoS...

That's just it, it's not just the drop rates. I wish it was that simple, we'd be all set at that point. Rifts are unrewarding. Items are unfinished, at least I hope so; legendaries with 1 primary stat can't be finished, right? They're testing the gambling part now. Hopefully, they address splitfarming bounties. Bounties right now are the most rewarding way to farm. There is still some skill balancing/tweaking to do. There's concern about mob hps and damage, particularly in higher Torment levels. A good bit of work to do still, and time's running short.

My hope is that it can all be reasonably polished in that time, but my faith is dwindling the longer these issues go unaddressed, delayed, or flipflopped on.
