A lot of peoples have been posting a lot of builds.
So close from the release, is there in your fellow WD opinion some skills/runes you KNOW you'll need, and some other you KNOW you wont use. Because they're not good enough, or for any other reason.
To be clear, this is not a thread asking for what you think /may/ or may not be something you'll use. But this is aiming at figuring out if for the WD community there is already a somewhat definitive consensus regarding a very few skills/runes use.
I'm of a similar feeling on Soul Harvest but I think it could be manageable depending on whether we can use abilities like Soul Harvest while spirit walking.
Outside of that though I see a few types of builds.
The damage stacking DPS type with Poison Darts/Splinters and DoT(haunt/locusts) and Damage-over-area spells allowing stacking of threeish damage types against limited numbers of targets. Direct CC spells or a Gargantuan will be necessary in place of a team if soloing.
A similar type DPS'er with AoE like firebats, the same haunt/locust DoT on top of area dot. This one is probably better PvM whereas the first may work better for PvP/Bosses. Better in a group I think, especially with Big Bad Voodoo which I think is going to be a pretty standard WD support skill. The bad medicine passive is also important here.
The dps Summoner which is like the first two roughly replacing direct CC spells with summons as distractions while supporting with some DPS.
and the summoner support with limited DPS but lots of additional CC and buff/debuffs. Mass confuse, horrify, in the first case. Hex, Bad Medicine, Acid cloud in the second.
Runes can make some differences but before release it's hard to say for sure. Just what I'm thinking.
There are a lot of different build types and styles for the WD.
Here are some general styles:
Pet Summoner: Incorporates pet followers into gameplay, uses runes and passives to strengthen pets. Very common build.
Sacrifice: Uses sacrfice as a primary spell, uses runes and passive to spawn more dogs.
Spirit Caster: build centers around Spirit realm skills, like soul harvest, haunt, spirit barrage, mass confusion, etc.. Passives center on mana regeneration.
Caster Build: A build that does not incorporate pet followers. Very common build.
Vison Quest Build: Centered around the passive vision quest for mana regeneration.
Co-op Build: Uses skills to benefit the group, not just the WD.
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
I want to travel to exotic places, meet interesting people. And then throw spider-filled jars of pottery at them.
