This is a protest of moderators locking threads whenever they are losing an argument...
This site loses its credibility when they try to stop the free thinking about a macro program that can spam buttons for you like this.
Moderator Evolution85 “I dont give a damn if 99% of all players in the WORLD use them. They are against the ToS and EULA. Not to mention the spirit of the game.”
Ok so YOU don’t like it. And you decide that if it is against ToS it cannot be discussed.
Why is that? Why can’t we discuss what we want?
Also "The spirit of the game" are you kidding me??? So now you are the judge of morality?
And he continues “ANY links to them or suggestions that they be used do not belong on these forums. Period.
DiabloFans has a very good reputation in the Diablo community, and it needs to stay that way!”
Not any more. Reputation comes from credibility, not cencorship.
Ofc. We can discus what we want. Only it needs to be clear that you are likely to be banned for certain programs.
Making it a choice for the player. Knowledge is power and ppl needs to exchange ideas freely.
It is clear from all the user reactions that they do not share the same moral indignation, about that someone
could actual play the game without spamming 4 buttons every 1 sec. Which in the end results in moderator Bagstone locking the thread.
Making it clear to all that this is not an open forum, and only ideas that are in line with the moderators are allowed...
This post is of course very likely to be deleted.
And if not deleted it will be locked if too many other ppl likes it... Ending with some moral speech from one of the moderators.

To make this crystal clear: This is not the case, and if anyone ever observes such an instance, please let the moderation managers Zero(pS) or me know. If you don't feel comfortable talking to either of us, contact a moderator of your choice; we have a very flat hierarchy and discuss moderation issues in our moderator team, but if a user has concerns and wishes to utter concerns anonymously, any moderator will respect that.
Furthermore, moderators moderate. While we sometimes (or in my case, oftentimes) engage in arguments, we don't take sides (and when we do, this does not represent Diablofans' opinion but our own). Moderation and opinion are two very separate things and we as the moderator team take utmost precaution to make sure this separation stays intact. In particular, if a moderator gets into a discussion and the thread needs to be moderated, the moderator will usually refer to another mod to look into actual moderation measures as someone who has actively engaged in the discussion sometimes is not objective anymore.
Again, to re-iterate: If you see a moderator taking sides and then abusing their moderation powers beyond the forum rules, contact the moderation team. I will treat your inquiry as if you have done so, and therefore let's look into it:

Note that not Evolution85 closed the thread, but I did. And I was not a "judge of morality", but I acted upon multiple requests by the community - the thread was reported multiple times as offering a tool that is against the ToS, a third-party-application that we cannot condone. Note that this is also clearly stated in our forum rules:
In the beginning, the tool was kind of "borderline" which is why we allowed the discussion and kept the thread open (we removed the link, however, as it was a third party tool which is clearly not allowed, period). The OP added the link back in though and added several other functions that were way beyond just "key spamming" and clearly crossed a line. At this point, also due to repeated re-posting of the link, there was no other way than to respect the requests of our community and to close this thread.

Yes, exactly. We allowed the discussion, we did not censor it (note that the thread was only closed, not deleted, so the discussion is still readable). The reason why the thread was closed was not the discussion, but the repeated violation of rules by re-posting the third party app.
Ofc. We can discus what we want. Only it needs to be clear that you are likely to be banned for certain programs.
Yes, exactly. Could be my words! Today has proves that once again - people got banned. Yet, the discussion about bots continues (the thread in our forum has 12 pages already).
It is clear from all the user reactions that they do not share the same moral indignation, about that someone

Please read my statement in which I say why I locked the thread. The app was not about just spamming 4 buttons every 1 second, it went much further in the last iteration and OP kept on spamming the link, leaving us no other choice but to close the thread. I think we're pretty transparent about what we allow (and what not), much more than other Diablo-related websites, and if something is not clear please ask and we will try to clarify. Discussion is fine, just not posting links or apps that leads people to use software that is against the ToS (and will get them banned).
This post is of course very likely to be deleted.

Nope, it will not be deleted - just moved to the correct forum. About the speech part - maybe, it's what I like to do, post on forums, you know, that's why I'm here after all. Is it about morality? I don't think so, it's just about transparency of moderation and the rules of this board.
