Heh, would love that to happen.
I'm pretty sure we're going to get something like that with the Necromancer, a while back I heard rumours that we were going to see the Necro as an NPC, but not a playable class.

Heh, true.
I sure hope we don't get SC and WC3 in Diablo though :(.
Warcraft has always been a bit more comedic than the other games, so users didn't object much to seeing Diablo and Starcraft units/references in there.
But seems most Diablo fans are hardcore about keeping the other games out of Diablo.
Anywho, got on a bit of a rant there.
I wouldn't object to seeing past classes in Diablo, maybe even some from the first Diablo ^^.

I know blizzard isnt stupid but since so many people have been speculating things i decided to make a thread if you watch the art trailer on diablo3.com it shows a girl that has clothing that has a big resemblance to d2 druid and she has a snake on her arm or could be a hunter but most likely druid i would like that better then again i am hunter alot in games grr i love both lol!:P:P:P
You know. One could say that the druid and hunter are the same class. Just with different styles? I mean, a lot of what they are known for is the same, except, the druid would be the more magical version, and the hunter, the more physical...

Just a quick thought of mine...
I suppose since they so similar thats why i like them both the same
I would personally want the Druid in Diablo III because it was probably one of the most undeveloped character in the series. We've had books on Necromancers, a ton of lore relating to the Zann Esu and Paladin, and the Barbarian's had their own act and are returning already.
The other two I wish we had more on were the Amazon and the Assassin, although I think the latter should remain elusive because of the character's very nature- stealth.
Hmm, I wonder what it would be like to mix the classes? Since they are similar anyways, just make them one, with traits from both classes? I think that could make for an interesting class.
They say that no characters from the past will be back except the Barby right? Are or they just saying classes from the second game?
They said that no other classes from D2 would be playable, no doubt the other classes will be getting cameo roles. There have been rumours floating around about the Necromancer getting an NPC role in D3, since he was such a widely loved class in D2.

And then there is the Necromancer - Witch Doctor, the druid also kinda fits into the Witch Doctor as well, both seem to have a very natural feel to them. (The witch doctor has leaves covering his armor, as well as skills that utilize bugs)

eh i dont think tey would do that... the only real good skills in hell were the elemental ones... summons were too weak and shape shift sucked vs iron maiden...
Everything sucked vs Iron Maiden, everything melee anyways.
Shapeshifting druids were actually one of the better builds, I had a legit shapeshifter druid who could consistently take down most elemental users.
Pretty much boiled down to how much life leech you had, but Feral Rage could always bolster that considerably.

Curses also worked VERY well with the necromancer in hell, specially decripify and iron maiden. I would like to see the necromancer in expansion packs as a new class.
I'm in the same boat Odin ^^.
Absolutely loved the druid class.
But hell, from the looks of it the witch doctor will be a druid/necro hybrid class, made a post about this earlier.

A important difference between the Druid and the Necromancer was also the power and way of summoning skeletons/wolves. With the Druid you got the feeling of him having pets, and with the Necromancer you got the feeling of having minions.
I forgot how the Witch Doctor summons his/her minions, but are the way of the summoning/style of the summons more alike the Necromancer or the Druid?
And D2 had 4 summoning classes. The Assassin summoned traps and the Amazon summoned a valkyrie. It wasn't really possible to rely on the valkyrie as a build, but trap Assassins are common, so I'd say thats a summoner.
You forgot the asin also had the shadow master and warrior
The main problem with the druid is his inability to teleport in feral form. I loved his fury move, rabies move and just his all around speed. A good druid is capable of extremely high hit points as well as damage. Enigma broke and fixed the druid; Broke feral but also fixed windy druids. Blizzard needs to find a way to balance both aspects without having every character teleport. Balancing for the game should resolve around pvp in order to create equal classes with unique feels and chances. If not then we will have builds that just arent viable except for pve.

If you're talking about game play, the druid. The druid summons are supportive, no druid would rely only on summons, he allways get one shapeshift or one kind of elemental spell. So the summon are his suport skill and huricane/armagedon/werewolf/werebear his main skill.
The necromancer summoner have his pets as the main damage source and only use curses to amplify that damage. So his summonsrae the main skill and the curses his supportive skills.
The Witch Doctor's dogs fits more the druid style. He only conjure his dogs to distract the enemy or to channel up other spells and effects. It as already said that the WD will not use his pets to do all the work for him, wich reminds me of the druid.
But in a background point of view the Wd's summons are more minions then pets, because he sacrifices the dogs all the time, making then lesser dispensable minion, not a companion pet.

Faded out her voice and soiled her name
And like marked pages in a diary
Everything seemed clean that is unstained
The incoherent talk of ordinary days

Decide what is clear and what's within a haze
What you should take and what to give" - Opeth

If druids will be in D3 I hope they will be more enjoyable for me.
Necro will be difficult to see, WD is a similar character which I'm quite sure will be my first character.
