"We traveled east, over the mountains and into the vast deserts of broken lands. As the days passed, my companion told me of himself; that he had once been a great warrior, and that a dark, sacred burden now weighed heavily upon him. We travled for an eternity across that barren wasteland; how long? I couldn't say. And always, A dark cloud seem to follow us just over the horizon.
"Finally the journey ended, we crossed the last ridge. And there below us, lay our destination. The shining jewel, Lut Gholien, with the great sea beyond. We made camp that last night. Perhaps it was the warm desert wind or the sound of the ocean, but for the first time in many weeks, I slept. However the dreams returned, but these were clearly not my own. I beheld the vision of a great, the mage, Tal Rasha. You were there too Tyrael, I remember seeing you in my dream. His bretheren had cornered a great demon, Baal, the Lord of Destruction, had been set loose upon the world. They attempted to imprison the demon within a sacred stone. Yet, when their attemtps failed, Tal Rasha selflessly volunteered to contain the demon within himself, completing the prison. He instructed his bretheren to bind him, in a tomb, buried underneath the sand, to wrestle with the demon for all eternity."
Tal Rasha screams....
Marius awakes, and The Wanderer says; "Now you know what I seek marius; this is my brother. Sleep now, we set out with the dawn."
The next morning, we walked over the hill toward Lut Gholein. I had no idea then, the horrors that were in store for me there.

I'm unsure if they crossed the last ridge or bridge.
Which way is the right path, as I stand upon this chaotic crossroad of hate... How many ways are there to roam on this dark and damned road of Fate... "There are many ways, my son, to find where the souls of Demons remain... But it takes only one second of despair and of doubt until at last, your soul, they will gain... Inherit these lands, these things, these dreams that are yours, forever, to adore... For there is no life, in the depths of chaos, my son, for you to explore..."
''and much more that I didn't care to hear just then. I nodded my head weakly and wondered how long it would be before I could politely get myself home and crawl into bed''
2 of the quotes associated with the halls of the blind.
"Darkness shrouds the Hidden. Eyes glowing unseen with only the sounds of razor claws briefly scraping to torment those poor souls who have been made sightless for all eternity. The prison for those so Damned is named the Halls of the Blind." - Good ol' Cain.
"I can see what you see not. Vision milky, then eyes rot. When you turn they will be gone, Whispering their hidden song. Then you see what cannot be, Shadows move where light should be. Out of darkness, out of mind, Cast down into the Halls of the Blind." -Book of the Blind
Those 2 quotes stuck with me, they scared the shit out of me when I first played through that game :D.
