I'm looking for people who are interested in starting a group play of D2 with one of the awesome mods out there.
There is a nice mod i heard of, simply called "Perfect drop mode" which makes the game really enjoyable especially for someone who has played it so much in the past.
I am open to suggestions as to which mod should be played. If we get enough people we can reach a mutual agreement regarding this matter.
This group will be mainly EU based but if you live anywhere else and you have a decent internet connection then there shouldn't be a problem.
We can get on one of the community driven - publicly availabe Ventrillo servers which will make things really convenient.
Once or if we get enough people we will decide when our playing sessions will be and all.
If someone wants to join and is unsure as to how mods are installed, I will help him / her.
There is a high probability (maybe like 90%) that nothing will come out of this but i will try anyway.
Post here if you are interested and please include suggestions or opinions about certain mods. If you have self experience with any, i'd like to hear a convincing reason why that specific mod will be enjoyable in a group play.
I would be happy to join. Perfect Drop Mod sounds awesome, as does Zy-El. I'm not a fan of Eastern Sun, it changes the game way too much for my liking.

A visitor in this god forsaken land!
Thanks for showing interest... Should we try and keep this thread alive in hope that someone else will join us? I think that 3 people can be a good ammount of people to start with but 4 sounds really awesome.
I'm personally more interested in the perfect drop mode. that way i can go for awesome builds like:
I actually prefer smaller groups. I like playing with one other person, two others or maybe three others depending on who they are. Any more than a total party of 4 usually makes me want to kill myself, I dunno why.

About the mod... well, the only one that works with 1.13d is the perfect drop mod so it's really easy to install it you just replace the patch.mpq file. Zy-El for an example, requires you to have 1.09d installed and like 90% of the download links for the patch itself and programs like reverters and stuff are all down... So i think we should just go with the perfect drop mod and if you guys don't like it we can switch to something else.
Anyway we can start this thursday / friday i think... what do you guys say?
Oh and i'm not sure how exactly we can set this up. Last time i played with friends was via hamachi or simply on b.net... Does hamachi still exist? lol
I have a day job so weekdays don't work for me very well. Usually on weekends I am home with nothing better to do anyway, this coming weekend being one such weekend. I have some stuff to do, but mostly open Saturday and Sunday this coming weekend.
I'm thinking of playing a Frosty Zealot (favorite), Bowazon, or a Druidic Ranger (Bow or crossbow + summons).

We should plan this out first. Are we going with Hamachi, or some other similar, yet easier-to-use program?
I'm a bit of a networking noob. Give me a computer with a ton of viruses on it and I'll give you a repaired computer. Give me a room full of computers, and a bunch of tech shit, and ask me to link everything up. I give you a confused look and I leave.

I'm trying out GameRanger. It looks pretty good. It lets you create a game and search for games from a list, etc...
There's not much to setup, each of us just has to have d2 1.13d installed. Make sure the perfect drop mod works in single player and then try to create / connect to games on this game ranger thing.
If we won't be able to make gameranger work then we can try using Tunngle. It's supposed to be quite simple...
I've got everything set-up and working great. I will be on at around 1:00 PM EST Sunday. Which should be about 8:00 PM for the both of you. We just need to figure out who will be hosting, and I suggest testing your ping rate on www.pingtest.net. If you have a Grade A connection that would be fantastic.
Update: I've tested my connection on a local server and on a server in Germany. Both speed tests have shown pretty good speeds for both downloads and uploads. Ping test rated me at a Grade B for both local and Germany, only difference is Germany has a higher ping which is to be expected.

Did you manage to join d2 games on gameranger? I couldnt find any that were not password protected so i wasnt able to test it. I did manage to host games and i also managed to join a Terraria game so i guess there shouldnt be a problem... I'll be online today at ~7:30... Add me on GameRanger "Jamoose" And send me a PM here if needed.
I really enjoyed our playthrough yesterday even though it was quite short. After a bunch of bullshit from that gameranger thing we managed to make it all work.
Level 17 and we didn't even rescue Cain
List of known issues with gameranger:
-Sometimes when you join / host a game the spacebar key is stuck for a while so you either wait it out or just press spacebar a couple of times. EDIT: Actually, join a single player game and leave it.
-Sometimes the colors are all messed up (d2 on acid as Lt.Venom calls it) so you either go to single player first and then multiplayer or restart the game.
-When you are playing you might hear a bot voice saying "Gold membership required to send voice" or something like that... It happens for no apparent reason.
-You cannot alt tab and use the gameranger chat once you are in game.
The colors thing is because gameranger doesn't allow you to run the game in the settings you need to play on Windows 7. I don't experience Diablo Acid Version when playing single player on PlugY or vanilla or PDM if I feel like it. Does Tunngle allow settings such as windowed and XP compatibility?
I wish there was a mode that's kind of like watching tv on a widescreen where you sometimes see the black bars on the sides so I could play and not accidentally click on my desktop and die while doing so.

This was posted at 10:18 PM EST (my time).
I can play from about 10:00 PM to 1:30 AM at the latest.
There's gotta be something easier to use than Hamachi.
Posting this at 09:44 AM
If you can only play from 10PM to 1:30 AM then we have a problem here
This is a good website http://www.thetimezoneconverter.com/
Also, according to this, my timezone is UTC+3
Maka: 18:00(6PM) -> 00:00(12AM)
Jamoose: 20:00(8PM) - > 02:00(2AM)
Lt.Venom: 12:00(12PM) -> 18:00(6PM)
So we have like 5-7 hours that we can somehow work something out... If we play on a fridays, could it work? Let me know what you think.
I'm thinking of playing a Frosty Zealot (favorite), Bowazon, or a Druidic Ranger (Bow or crossbow + summons).
probably a bit earlier.

I'm... surprise, surprise... Lt. Venom.
Where the hell did Maka get too?
I've added you. I also see that you're approximately 5,800 miles (9,334 kilometers) from me.
