If they edited Unity to state that it didn't work with companions; would this break your build and nerf your capability to farm harder difficulties or would it merely be a slight stumble?
Strikes me as a little frustrating that a lot of players feel its mandatory to clear harder difficulties. Not just because I'm yet to have my first one drop (Oh I've got a lvl 60 one I guess :p); but that stepping up to the hardest difficulties requires 2 of a specific item to achieve.
So what are your feelings on the matter? Do you consider it "Working as intended" or do you view it as a 'bug' that should be fixed?
I wouldn't call it a bug per se, as it is supposed to split damage, but it definitely takes away from actually fully gearing your characters to run T6 solo
you absolutely do NOT need it. It is used merely as a crutch to help lesser geared players farm higher torments, or to let min/maxers go full blown DPS without having to invest slots/stats into damage reduction, vit, all res, and/or armor. There are plenty of each class that farm torment 6 without unity.
I tried this out and noticed how much easier it was to do t3/t4 with unity on my companion. I thought it was necessary, but then I found a SOJ. And while the SOJ was the wrong element for me, I wanted to try out the 30% damage to elites. Then I realized ... I don't NEED unity! It was just making me lazy and not having to occasionally move.
To be fair, I haven't tried t5+, so perhaps it's more of a "necessity" to make up for lack of mitigation, but I personally think it's a crutch so that you can stand in the fire...
I just started using the unity combo, reflect damage on t6 is brutal (with a dh since you cannot dodge reflect). At least with this combo i can stay alive long enough to see they have reflect.
