I like how everyone who hates the game on the first page got rep'd, and everyone who likes it or is not bored did not. If you guys didn't put in hundreds of hours in the first 2 months out, maybe you wouldn't be burned out. I also don't understand how some of the people commenting about being bored with the game or hate the game are the ones constantly putting out lame videos of D3 trying hard for viewers. If the game sucks so much, move on to another game or another activity in real life.
Since I only get to sit down a few hours a night, if at all, I get a lot of enjoyment each time I log in for the action, then cry a little at the crappy loots. We all know the game can improve in some areas, but it is far from being a crappy game.
I found D2 extremely boring after making my 20th character with uber gear and shit... 'oh ladder reset, great, everything all over again'.
EVERYTHING gets boring. The time it takes depends on each person. Hell just thinking about farming Act 2 again with my Monk makes me cringe a little and think about leveling an alt.
Anyways, I voted NO. I'm not bored yet. Maybe its the rational and patient playing no longer than 2h/day. Like the guy above me said, don't get burned out. Very simple.

I can barely finish one farming run without getting bored. The game certainly can improve. Let's hope it does.
Of course not, no more than any other personal experience.
He still makes a valid point. If you're playing 10 hours/day it's a strong chance that you're going to grow bored of the game faster than someone playing 2 hours/day even if the game is FUCKIN AWESOME!

I don't think that's the problem. The problem (IMO of course) is that the game is simply boring once you get well into/clear inferno. The slow as hell gear grind simply isn't enough to keep one engaged. This is of course working under the assumption that the game is intended to have longevity, which is what most of us expect, and is what Blizzard has stated they want.
Voted yes. I miss bounty hunting and collecting ears, strangely. It also gets really boring because I have never been a strong gold farmer, so all the item upgrades that I "should" be buying from the AH are astronomically out of my price range. I've much preferred level grinding - and 60 levels is too little.
Slightly tangential: Hardcore isn't fun when I'm barely avoiding death because of rubberbanding and lag.
Yes, Diablo 3 is a soild good game that has alot of sense for its gameplay. Although, all of Diablo 3 design is ment for a newer generation who havent experience the Diablo universe. Therefore, Diablo 3 is a forgettble boring game to someone like myself, a diablo veteran.
P.S.- My #1 reason for playing D2 was the Hardcore PvP/PKing. Knowing it'll be drastically different from D2, kills the exciement from killing players either by force or choice.
this is the truth.. I want free world pking WP camping town guarding fun... IGA. thats the fun in D2. D3 arena will be lame i think not as fun as town camping .

Yeah this too. I lost my HC barb just last night facing Azmodan. Fight started, I leapt... nothing happened... dead 20 seconds later. Thanks Blizz, online-always is awesome! And for everyone who was defedning it on the basis of stopping dupes and hacks, well, you know how that went eh?

I didn't upvote anyone BTW.
There can be dozens of reasons for people getting bored, but playing too much without a system in place to constantly engage people can be a big reason. I've cleared Inferno, and I greatly enjoy my time because I play in smaller doses. If you have all of Inferno on farm but still play 5+ (random number) hours a day, you will grow tired of the game soon.
PVP is still on the way, legendaries are getting upgraded, and the truly good loots are far and few in between. If you are putting in high hours with no rewards, the incentive to log in will be lacking.

Lag was terrible in D2 also, and many, many people lost their chars the same way.

There is an air of truth about this.
I think the Blizzard devs caved too much when we pushed them for "harder" content. In my opinion the #1 thing that's wrong with D3 is actually Inferno. It's... it doesn't feel like Diablo. They could have kept the D2 model and simply not allowed the mobs to have been so easy, or they could have added Inferno and not made it a 3-tier difficulty. But I am simply not a fan of the current implementation of Inferno.
They most likely thought the tiers would add longevity. What it really means is that we have damn near *no* variation in farming, and that (coupled with a few other factors) is what's really making it tedious/boring for people. I certainly say that understanding that I'm making a blanket statement, but I think that most of us would be having MORE fun hunting for items if we weren't stuck with the 3-tier Inferno system that we currently have.
To be clear I don't feel that we had tons and tons of variation in farming in D2 either, but if you got sick of Mephiso you could do Baal, or Pindle, or cows (although they weren't great) or Uber Tristram.... hell I knew people who liked to farm Andariel (why I will not know, but they did). There was SOME variety. Right now you're basically stuck with "farm whatever hotspots exist in whatever the highest act you can farm with a good amount of MF" which provides far less options.
A non-tiered Inferno with free travel between acts and non-story mode would make hunting champions and bosses a lot more enjoyable.

I can only play ~3 hours ~4 nights a week. Between work and a GF who hates video games, there just isn't a lot of time. It stayed fun for me longer than the people who already had 150+ hours in by week 3, but the same thing happened eventually. I just... need a bit more. It doesn't have to be anything drastic, just little things. It also doesn't help that I feel like there is about 0% chance of me finding anything good when I log in and play for 3 hours.
Lag was terrible in D2 also, and many, many people lost their chars the same way.
I don't recall experiencing any lag in DII when not playing online, but how is that even relevant? We're talking about DIII here, I said nothing about DII.
The lag that killed me was definitely my connection (I saw an immediate drop on my second monitor), but that is also irrelevant. If I were able to play offline it would be a non-issue (I have never played co-op, not once, and do not plan to. Ever). I know this is a dead horse though, so I'll stop beating on it.

I know you didn't mention D2, but lag was and still is a risk to dying in HC mode. The lag was god awful in D2, even with broadband sorta being in its infant stage. You swing away for seconds at a time with nothing moving, and then it comes back with a pile of dead mobs or you being dead.
For the record, I'm not an advocate of D3 being perfect. It has many flaws that can (and hopefully will) be improved, but I still find it very fun.

I'm just saying that, if I could play single player offline, then my internet connection is irrelevant.

I'm pretty much there with you, I'm just not having fun much fun anymore. I really, really want to have fun playing this game though, it just needs some design tweaks. This weekend I'll be playing PoE...
I tried it and I found the combat to be god awful and slower than frozen molasses. Supposedly it's something they're going to fix. If they don't fix it I'm not sure I could play the game. It's like taking Diablo and playing it at 30% speed. Not my cup of tea because it really takes the "action" out and focuses more on RPG.
That is not to say that PoE might not be a good game, but it's going to have a lot more difficult time hooking me in with such sluggish combat.

....Well that is sad news indeed. That would be a deal breaker for me. Oh well, I'll give it a shot.
Changing this would require redoing many of the game's animations, to keep the timing of attacks balanced. It would likely be a huge and very expensive undertaking - it's not something we can just do.
Reading through the rest of the thread now, but not encouraging. If combat is that bad (as it would seem to be considering all of the games most ardent supporters seem to have a large problem with it) that really breaks the game for me and negates any other great features it has.

It's something that they said they'd be working on, so it's still on my radar. I was also horribly saddened to find out that it probably won't be possible to gain every "talent" on your character. As sadistic as it sounds, I was actually looking forward to that opportunity! I know, I'm a glutton for punishment.
Ye gods. How many of those people who answered 'yes' are still playing D3? How many of them dumped 300+ hours into the game already?
If you're bored, quit. Stop playing. It's not a difficult thing to do. Even those people who played D2 for years took breaks from the game: nobody would've been playing for 10 years in every hour of free time (or maybe there was 1-2 who did, but that's the exception, not the rule).
The idea that polls like this can even exist just boggles the mind. I'm not really playing the game at the moment, but I still wouldn't call it boring. I just went off to do other stuff instead of let it get to that stage. I'll come back to it later and have fun again. No issue.
Absolutely boggles the mind.
