Keep in mind everything detailed in the article today is already in the game, and most of it is complete. Once you get Patch 10 and see that, I think it may sink in that these aren't theoretical changes we're still working on, they're changes we've completed. Obviously the potion button still needs a little work to hook it up correctly, and the character attribute changes need to be balanced and tested for itemization throughout the game, but overall these are changes we've already made.
I do not intend to impress that we're close to release, or infer any such "we're <-- this --> done" kind of statement, but most of these are fairly straightforward changes that are already complete and implemented. We do have more changes, skills and runes, affixes to add, more items, Battle.net features, testing, testing, and more testing etc. to do so we're obviously still not there yet, but none of the changes detailed today are theoretical or yet to be implemented.
so calm the F down lol. all they have to work on is skill/runes for the next few months to release the game, so they can stop focusing on all that stuff cuz its DONE.
why does everyone ignore the big yellow part? Bashiok said its not close to release.
This is just simply not true. The part in yellow is NOT saying that the game isn't close to release. This is Bashiok's disclaimer, saying that HE IS NOT INFERRING that the game is close to release.
He does not want to get yelled at by making this post, so he is giving these encouraging words in a non-official manner, so he won't get kicked in his ass when someone says "WELL BASHIOK IN THAT POST YOU SAID THE CHANGES WERE ALREADY COMPLETED...SO THE GAME MUST BE DONE SOON.."
The point of this post is to let everyone know that they don't need to freak out about the vastness of these changes.
What vastness of what changes? Nothing's even changed at all. A couple of stat changes? Whoop de doo. That should've been dealt with last year, not in January of 2012.
As for pretending Bashiok is saying anything other than, "I'm not saying the games close to release." is just wishful and naive thinking.

Playing the beta easilly shows you that tha actual Diablo 3 is does not deserve the name and it's not blizzard material. The game is not ready, it's really raw and many systems are broken and ridicolous. It was more like TL and less like Diablo.
I'm GLAD theyare delaying it. Late 2012 or 2013 is bad but not a disaster. Release that game as it is is a disaster.

The beta is not meant for having fun or liking the game. Theres no better beta tester then a non diablo fan (cause he has no bias). Not trying to sound like a jerk but me having the beta key is not a crime (i've wrote around 10 pages of feedback).
And noone knows if they appreciate the game before playing it.
The skill system sucks. The itemisation sucked (hope they are working on it). And it's completly pathetic how The Binding of Isaac's monsters (a indie 5 dolars game) have better AI then D3's monsters, an AAA game from Blizzard.

And all the issues you mention are fundamental flaws with the game. If that's truly the case, I wonder what they were doing for the past 3 years.

I can't really say im happy or disappointed with the changes, because I haven't had the opportunity to play the beta and experience the past implementations and get a feel of the game. And that's whats f*cked about the beta, you get no say if your not in it.
The true delay of the game is actually, feedback. And as blizzard get more and more theyll continue to go crazy with wild ideas and changes therefore resulting in a 2015 release.
But like any diablofan on this website... I'll continue to follow like some sheep being herded along.

omfg... how long have you been on these forums? and how much info do you know about diablo 3? that post was SO fail and if your really that misinformed heres how:
1. skill system sucks: you only have access to not even HALF of the available skills and NONE of the customization of the runes which makes up 99% of the skill system so you cant judge the skill system AT ALL with the beta that has no runes.
2. itemization sucks: the beginning of the game is SUPPOSED to be limited in items and they gradually increase act by act and difficulty by difficulty, you also cannot judge this by the first 1/3rd of act 1 of NORMAL. wow
3. monster AI sucks: are you seriously suggesting this? the AI was INTENTIONALLY dumbed down in NORMAL (aka super easy) mode and by the time you hit inferno they ignore tanks and pets and just bum rush you because they are smart as hell. this first and foremost cannot be judged by the super easy beginning of the game.
4. reason for beta: while most games in beta are used for testing all of its features the Diablo 3 beta is almost entirely for testing server stability and infrastructure, NOT for you to test/complain about systems you dont even have partial access to let alone full access.
if you just trolled me then /facepalm because you either just posted the dumbest thing i have ever read or your post has insane sarcasm that i cant detect.
and again i reiterate that it is now very apparent it is not only a crime but disturbing that you have access to the beta.

1. Skill system are not skills, it's how you pick and put point in those. I only need to level a couple of times to know if the game has a good level up progression and skill progression mechanics. D3' flaw is: after you have picked the skills you want, leveling is not fun anymore. Even in beta people make builds. With the barbarian, for example, past level 10 theres no fun in leveling because i already got all skills that makes part of my strategy. It's boring and broken.
The prove that skill system is bad is the fact they are reworking it and possibly breaking the second release window by doing it.
Source: "We’re also working on a number of other large systems changes -- specifically with the skill and rune systems. We're not quite ready to share what those are just yet, but we look forward to being able to do so in the near future."
2. Except from +resistances, all mods in the game can be founded in lvl 1 items. This info is easilly proven by datamining the item files. The only item progression is: bigger values, legendary items, set items.
Also what is bad about itemisation can be easilly seen right at the momment you finish the beta and start farming rares in leoric and theres no reason thsi issue is fixed as you progress in higher level and difficulties. The bad thing is: every class use the same items. The 23 DPS mace is the best weapon in the beta and it's the best weapon for all classes except DH. All classes using the same item sets simply sucks. They changed the stat system in order to generate a bad item pool for each class, fixing this issue.
3. When asked if monster AI would improve in later difficulties, some Blizz employe said "Err, maybe.. don't expect much". This is really old interview and i can't find the source but if you're really curious go to b.net forums and ask the CMs there.
4. We can't judge the game entirely but there are many things beta testers comment and share. Beta is most for stress tests, true, but in several occasions beta feedback provided info for changes in the game. Skeleton King difficulty, Templar using only spears, swaping skills in the middle of the dungeons, the magic find values of magic items being as high as gold find and many, many others. In their recent post, blizz said an couple of times some changes were made based on beta feed back.
It's better to be an troll and say whats wrong with the game then being fascinated and skip the important feedback (the negative one). Diablo 3 is not a game maid only for diablo fans boys who tolarates every mistake, the game must please and attract a crowd that don't even know what diablo is.
And you can bet i know every single inch about D3. From blizz quotes to datamined info.

The only comment was that in Inferno monsters will be more agressive. Thats not a major AI change, thats just changing the agro radius and trigger.
D3 monster will have good AI when monsters stop advancing at you in a straight line and try to surround you, for example. Or estimating your movement and intercept you. Or avoiding your projectiles. Or having specific formations depending on the enviorment (staying behind a trap, run to closed rooms, etc).

I played with it for several hours and didn't like it. The flaws i found was not fixed as the game progressed (actually it got a lot worse past level 30).
Theres a fucking blue post telling they are doing an major REWORK in the SKILL SYSTEM. They already broke the first release window and this decision might broke the second one. At this point, if they are reworking stuff it's because it needs rework.
You don't need to experience something completly in order to tell if it's good or not. You don't need to stick a knife in your anus to know it's going to hurt. You only need to stick it in your arm and deduce it's a lot worse there. Simply as that.
Stop being such a fanboy, facts prove i'm right. Blizzard is delaying the game because the game is not good enough yet. It's my words and their own words.

this sums up your last few posts. this ignorance is pretty staggering and makes me feel pitty for you. what a sad sad world you live in where you pre-judge everything without trying it. /sadface. and your not experiencing it slightly less then completely, your experiencing less then 10% of it. so less then 1/10th. poor close minded kids these days tisk tisk

Monsters will see an increase in health, damage, damage resistances and aggression in Inferno. They'll also have access to a larger suite of powers in Inferno, making minions and boss monsters even tougher. Expect a tougher game across the board, with broader than ever challenges even for the most skilled demon hunters.

The game IS good enough, Blizzard is just trying to perfect it. The problem with trying to perfect a software product: is that you can spend a ridiculous amount of time and only end up improving it by a small margin. Thus the reason for the trivial system changes JW detailed yesterday. I mean 3 months to basically take out the cauldron of jordan seems like a pretty inefficient use of time.
Italofoca you have no idea what your talking about. Look at Blizzard's sample size. They have THREE (3) individual game projects that they have started over the past 10 years. Of those three, one got scrapped- SC Ghost. For WOW and SC2 both have seen numerous major system changing patches, so obviously those were not perfect at release either.
Now does it really seem like Blizzard's iterative cycle is a good thing when 1/3 of their games dont even make it to production? And albeit the delays and time spent their other games are far from perfect when they eventually do come out?

Blizzard used to care about releasing Diablo III, then they all took an arrow in the knee...
"Monsters will see an increase in health, damage, damage resistances and aggression in Inferno. " Agression is not a major AI change. Read my post jack ass. Even if monster attacks you on sight (maximun possible agression level) D3 AI is far worse then BoT's one (my first statement).
The skill system sucks. I kno it because I kno how it works despite the fact I didn't tested it past level 13. The prove that it sucked is the fact they are reworking it despite the major delay.

man stop trolling the fourms who the hell are you trying too fool with the argument the AI sucks on inferno when non of use have even tryed it? Last time i checked blizzards capabilities at making AI's, wc3 and starcraft 2 DIDNT fail. The computers there have smart firing, micro, macro, controls on level and on par. Why would diablo 3 be any different in AI?
Your point trying to say aggression is not a change in AI is not true based on what we have seen in there more recent games if you ask me. Even world of warcraft. as a dps or healer if you over aggro the tank, your dead... I would see the same things applying here. Ranged mobs will run away from you or kite you, melee will hug the hell out of you, maybe even block your pathing, or how about slowing you and crippling you till the range wears you down? Point is we wont know till we play but based on the track record the AI wont be the problem, if anything they may ajust health possible or timers accordingly to help or hinder players.

They'll also have access to a larger suite of powers in Inferno, making minions and boss monsters even tougher. Basically you just proved his point: they're mostly making the game harder by raising health, damage, damage resistances and aggression. (the easy way) None of this is "AI", the article doesn't once mention anything raising their AI, their "artificial intelligence" aka, the -way- they approach you and how they OUTPLAY you basically. It doesn't mention.. anything about it, NOTHING. The ONLY thing that comes close to being "better AI" is indeed the "aggression factor" but even that can barely be called "better AI".
so your saying we will be able to trick monsters? because you know this is a game right and not real life? so the monsters rush you as fast as possible to kill you, what else would AI increase? lol

Agression is not a major AI change. Read my post jack ass. Even if monster attacks you on sight (maximun possible agression level) D3 AI is far worse then BoT's one (my first statement).
The skill system sucks. I kno it because I kno how it works despite the fact I didn't tested it past level 13. The prove that it sucked is the fact they are reworking it despite the major delay.
good god man you are dense. you have no argument, and despite the fact that you cant comment on the skill system you havent tried your still going on. really is funny that your still trying to argue any of your original points
man stop trolling the fourms who the hell are you trying too fool with the argument the AI sucks on inferno when non of use have even tryed it?
Point is we wont know till we play but based on the track record the AI wont be the problem, if anything they may ajust health possible or timers accordingly to help or hinder players.
so your saying we will be able to trick monsters? because you know this is a game right and not real life? so the monsters rush you as fast as possible to kill you, what else would AI increase? lol
