Where are people getting this 2 day fantasy from? The limited Beta, which was likely designed to increase level rate? And even if it wasnt, XP increases exponentially. Think back to D2, you could POWER LEVEL to 80 in a day, it would take considerably more time from scratch. Once at about 80 it started taking considerably more time, and once at 90+ it took an insane amount of time.
Not a smart business move to allow people level quickly either.

playing a game for the sake of farming, is not fun.
i will be playing inferno because its fun.
I'm not denyng that... my point is you can't just simpy run through Hell like you can Normal. You will need the gear, and that gear doesn't just rain from the sky. Diablo III is RANDOM. Random drops including random recipes. If you want good enchantments... it needs to drop. If you want good gear... it needs to drop or it needs to be crafted. If you want to craft good gear, you need the randomly dropped components and recipes. Etc.
The point is, running through Hell immediately after release WILL NOT be like running through Hell on Diablo 2 Now. Try running a Barb on single player, with only the gear you find all the way through Hell-Baal. Its doable, but its not as instantaneous as people in this thread seem to think.

seems like your all just arguing with each other over something none of you know. what do we KNOW?
hell-inferno will be "difficult". now if your an expert player with an amazing build you came up with, and got lucky and found/created a real awesome wpn, since EVERYTHING scales with your weapon your 10x better. and with the WD, DH, Wizard you can kite around. obviously i wouldn't choose a super easy to die melee class as my first. ranged class that is super good at kiting IE the WD. underwhelming at beginning of the game but looking at his skills and runes he becomes quite OP at laying down destruction, and no ones skills are weapon dependent in the beta so you can't look at that for ANY type of scaling to go off of. and he's the best at not dying because of his 5 minions to tank and other spells to make sure he's never touched (or not touched often :P).
now watching gameplay footage it seems like ALOT of the players (at blizzcon) are spending way too much time walking around mindlessly and not attacking, they look like bots... >_>. i see there resource is full and there still just "attack attack... *wander mindlessly for a couple seconds* attack attack" it makes no sense. there not trying to avoid dying because there at full life. so in reality an expert player would be attacking constantly, i plan on making builds that do not ever stop attacking, since we have "generator" spells you should not stop attacking even for a second.
yes this would be more easily achievable with a group, obviously.
do i think it will be achievable in one day? maybe, maybe not. if i stayed up for a strait 24 hours without moving. i think its not some insane stretch to think 24 hours of constant gameplay by someone who knows wtf to do could get there or close. i think a better estimation is 2-3 full days of playing. and as for "needing to farm hell gear for inferno". ya because farming takes forever? blizzard didn't say "you need the BEST hell gear possible to beat inferno" did they? oh no they didn't. spend a bit farming hell after you beat it for mats/items and your bound to be able to find/create some OK things for inferno, not the best obviously just some decent stuff so your not super weak. obviously everyones main focus should be a weapon, faster shit dies, better off you are overall. and if you remember in diablo if you were good at kiting the boss even if you did barley any damage to him you could eventually kill him without dying. i remember one time spending a full 20 min kiting mephisto around when i tried to beat him by myself without farming any gear. still beat him without dying once, but you get what i mean. its POSSIBLE. not for the "average" or "casual" player of course not. thats not what i am

You don't need to be a genius to realize that a team with > 100 people will find better gear then one player by himself. If they donate this gear to one player, that individual will have a massive advantage in reaching level 60 before any solo player (gold, +xp%, damage, defense, runestones)
But keep telling yourself you'll outsmart an organized team supporting a single hero.

I'm betting on Athene getting it first or damn near it. His persona that most people recognize is really just a publicity stunt. In reality, he is an amazing player at everything he plays and when he was streaming his first experiences with D3, he showed a great interest in being the first person to hit 60. He has the resources, the will, the skill, and the energy to get it done.
I'm not saying that it isn't worth trying. I'd be a damn liar if I said I wasn't going to do the same thing.
I'm just saying that if I were a betting man, I'd place my bets on him.
You should marry him.
On the topic. If there was a race, I would probably be aroung last spot. I always take my game slowly while having fun. Not sure if any of you played Rage, a lot of people saying they finished it in 9 hours, I finished it in 30 hours. Not because I'm slow, it's just my style. I try to enjoy games I play as long as I can.

I love all loot fest kind of game! I will be playing all of them for the next few years. Loot fest games I'm looking forward to: LotR: War in the North,Torchlight 2,Borderlands 2 and of course Diablo 3.

again i don't know why your pushing this team concept on me for no reason. i said nothing about making a team. using a team. beating a team. that was all you bud. i was merely speculating and curious if it was possible to reach lvl 60 within a day, maybe 2. by yourself. which it seems very possible. might take an extra day or two but far less then a week. but we won't know till release of course.
It all depends on the numbers. 48 hours, maybe. Without gear it will be hard, and we all start with no gear. I'd say 1 week or about 150 hours of play. That's my guess. With top gear I'd say 48 hours.

Where was that info acquired? Data mined or just an extrapolation based on assumptions from the beta?
Either way, I doubt it is reliable.
Even with this # you do not know how much xp is attained from killing various mobs, or a characters average kill rate.
I still say its not a smart business move to make leveling extremely quick.
The increase of required XP is rather flat (far from exponential). The base XP of monster will likely stay low (and unlike diablo 2 not go up per level) throughout the game. This makes alot of sense if you look at the flat bonus +XP items. So, a Risen at Level 1 gives you 40 base exp. The nightmare and hell version might still give 40 exp, though probably you'll have some +xp at that point, so it could be 80 by then. This gives you a choice, you can opt for damage, defense or well: XP gain. And that is exactly what Blizzard wants, a choice. I don't see any reason why they would implement a separate system for the beta.
Now, the higher difficulty levels will of course be more challenging and it might take you an hour just to clear one area (with no or bad gear), hence limiting your ability to reach 60 quickly. I'm pretty sure though that max level will be far easier to reach then 99 was in Diablo II. Making endgame content for only 0.1% of the player base would be very silly, and everything has to be achievable solo.
Let's assume the common monster base xp is around 40 (Risen L1). Weaker monsters (like the Torsos L1) only give 20, while tougher foes might give 100-120. Rare and Unique bosses are likely to give the highest xp in the game (besides super bosses like Leoric, Diablo). I'm assuming factor 3-5 here. Mathematicly I'd say you can get maybe 100-200 bonus xp per items. To prevent higher level heroes from going back and farming easy enemies in normal there are going be harsh penalties in place for hero/monster level differences bigger then five , probably restricting you to 1% or less, maybe even 1 xp per kill from such sources. We'll see soon enough.
Of course this is all speculation, but my prediction is this...

Some are even out of order, but there is an increase in xp required every level. Thus it is exponential, although slightly.
The 1st graph is the Required XP, the 2nd is slope.

The exact numbers will maybe change, I agree with you. However, I doubt they are redoing the whole system though. Why should they. The current one seems to be working just fine.

now were not talking clearing inferno. just the "getting to level 60" is all. which blizz said you should be 60 by the end of hell, WITHOUT repeating content. and with the first 1/3rd of act one taking less then 40 min from lvl 1. i HIGHLY doubt it would take over or close to 100 hours to achieve beating hell. considering norm would take less then 6 hours to beat at this rate. since it IS the easiest difficulty. so even if nightmare took triple the time, and then hell triple of nightmare time. STILL would not even come close to 100. so my prediction is <60 hours WITHOUT "great" gear. if the last boss(s) in hell is too hard to beat without great gear, then repeat content you can to achieve lvl 60 which is the ultimate goal of this thread. which will be alot easier.
Pretty sure they still haven't fixed the xp bug with 8-people party bug pre Baal wave 2 in Diablo II? Does someone still leave the party? I haven't played realm for some time.

Thus even if these presumptuous xp values were true, one could not estimate the minimum time to level with any meaningful degree of certainty.
