The thing about full 3d models in games, is that, most of the figures become more rounded such as in your avatar compared to necrolis' this really just kills the "evil" look because evil things have sharp edges pointed objects and things that aren't perfectly straight etc.
also the detail gets extremely downgraded from 2d to 3d unless the go all out and make the game DX10 but this could also slow the gameplay which is hopefully not a compromise they are willing to make.
Hopefully they either go all out and make a beautiful full 3d game that is just as fast paced and requires a good comp or they stick with the isometric view of D2.

i was about to say that or something similar, WOW looks cartoony and while the detail is pretty good, i still prefer the less technologically adavance games of old, like good old D1, LOD and BGII see opening post on page 1 for screenshots.

look into d1 then. its a very well made game, esp for '96. it was the best thing on the market in just about every possible way, story, graphics, gameplay, multiplayer.

i choose NWN because it seems to be to be the most logical (in my opnion of course)... i know that there is more than a good chance that d3 is going to have a 3d world and not the 2d bird's eye in diablo 2 even though it worked very well... almost all games are going 3d nowa-days and NWN graphics would still give that old diablo2 feel to it but still makeing it so you can interact with 3d things like a place were only a person with jump (like a barb in d2) could go (or tele if they still have it in d3)
