alright fellow gamers , my brother and i just had a debate on who would win in a battle between data and spock
he thinks spock would win because he could use his finger trick on the shoulder/neck to make data pass out (i believe theres a name for that move but i cant remember) anyways i told him theres no way that would happen to data since data is all machine and doesnt have nerves.
so give me your input on who you think would win, thanks
Data has an on/off switch under his armpit I think. Unless Spock hits that right away, Data could just use his ultra android strength to rip his arms off and throw him across the room etc.

i agree, data has dowloading capabilities, so he would know how to execute that very quickly.
Yeah, no pressure points, Data is what one calls an "Android". Also, like wumpus says, Data is faster stronger and ultimately probably a better fighter than Spock. Now if Spock must kill Data, and Data has his emotion chip in, Spock has a slightly better chance by trolling him to death or exploiting other weaknesses that emotions allow. Otherwise, sorry to say, Spock is dead.
You guys need to learn your Star Trek data - Data will not willfully cause harm to a member of Star Fleet even if they are are an immediate threat to him.

However!, I believe we are under the assumption that they are in a life/death battle. Data has his morality subroutines and Spock certainly has his own morality and starfleet regulation. The question is not necessarily moot even if the person asking is not the uber dweebs we are.
The question is not whether a Vulcan nerve pinch would work (Data is made to replicate humans as much as possible so it's possible (although highly unlikely) that it might just work. Doubtful, as he's unlikely to have been replicated to that level.
But when you come down to it, unless he traps Data, using guile and cunning, Data will defeat him. He has greater strength, agility, speed, computational power, knowledge etc.
That isn't doubtful its full blown stupid. The creator intentionally made Data so he would be vulnerable to a vulcan nerve pinch.....WTF?!
His internal components functionality has absolutely nothing to do with mimicking a human.

Also, Spock would be smart enough to not try to fight Data hand to hand.
He would obviously lose....

One is never hurt by being given additional choices, only by taking them away. A QUADRILLION MAGIC FIND is worthless if you can't kill shit!
yeah spock wouldnt have the quickness data has. plus if spock ever ran from data spock would lose oxygen and prob pass out, data therefore has no resp system so spock would def have to live short and never prosper....
That notwithstanding, fighting Data would be illogical, so Spock wouldn't do it. Why would it be illogical? Because Data would win, first off, since he's got the strength of like five vulcan-human hybrids, he's immune to the nerve pinch and he would protect his on-off switch in a head-on fight.
Also, Data wouldn't need to be fought with in the first place. If it appears that he would, then he's being controlled by an outside source and it'd be logical to deal with the root problem rather than the symptom. But yeah, Data wins.

...and if you disagree with me, you're probably <insert random ad hominem attack here>.

lmfao @ 'trolling him to death' =D
Spock would probably be like 'hey did u know D3 has no offline? I KNOW RITE it's ruined Diablo! D2 had better graphicz! YEA you can't grief ppl with hostility! PVP WAS THE ONLY ENDGAME D2 HAD AND IT'S THE REASON EVERYONE PLAYED!!!' ect ect.

You forget that in Star Trek: First Contact it was established that Data can turn his emotion chip on and off at will.
There is the on/off switch, and if Spock is able to get to that, he's won. He does have to physically overpower Data though, who is capable of insane calculations, as well as is already familiar/trained with several martial art styles, although dancing has been his weak point. If Spock took Data ballroom dancing, he would probably have a better chance at getting to Data's on/off switch than if he tried to best Data in physical conflict. I also see this scenario already starting to degenerate into a Star Trek fangirl yaoi wet dream. I think there's even a youtube spoof of this kinda thing but with Piccard and Data rather than Spock.

No, Data won't kill any living sentient being, so long as is own existence isn't in peril, that is hardwired into him. He can cause harm to other members of Starfleet, although he often elects not to, because his goal is to be friends with everyone, not their enemy. With that goal leading towards being able to do his own work more efficiently as well as learning how to become more human.
i would choose my own religion and worship my own spirit, but if he ever preached to me i wouldn't want to hear it. i'd drop him, a forgotten god, languishing in shame; and then if i hit stormy seas, i'd have myself to blame.
I forgot to mention another reason Data would obviously win; all it takes to beat Spock is a lizard or a paper disproving his existence. While the lizard might prove difficult to obtain, Data could churn out 1000 such scholarly documents before Spock could blink.

What are the terms of engagement, and versions of Spock/Data?
Spock at his best Vs. Data at his best in an arena death match? Data. not even close.
Most up-to-date time-line? Data is already dead, so Spock wins due to forfeit.
Duel of intellect? Spock wins because he has the dual capacity for cunning and logic.

I grew up gaming without internet forums. The entire phenomenon of being upset with a game developer makes no sense to me. No sense. I cannot imagine spending my time and energy being upset about something I choose to do for recreation.

Just throwing that out there.
