Yea thats been very common lately with similar games such as NWN and NWN2. Although modding in NWN2 is a bitch if you can even figure out how to use the tool set.

I forgot to post this on here yesterday so I'll do it today.
You can play an online mini-game of Dragon Age, which allows you to get items for the game when it comes out. The game itself plays like Heroes of Might and Magic, where you have a certain amount of spaces and actions you can do per turn in combat. Its fairly entertaining and challenging.
You get the in-game items by completing achievements, quests, and filling out a survey.
I would also like to point out that this is only the first chapter and there will be more.

Can someone explain to me how combat works in this game please. I watched a trailer and I am kinda confused. Looks a little to RTS like for me. I am not a big fan of having a party (unless its a co-op humans like diablo) in games, as id rather fight on my own. I see parts of this game that look awesome but overall i wish i was more enthused over it.
Well from what I've heard and read, you can control each individual party member but if you don't want the hassle of doing that you can just stay in your character and the others will fight along with you, and you can make sure they act how you want them to with detailed AI options.

The combat is fairly passive if you're looking for something like Diablo. It's not technically turn based, but you do a lot of pausing and queuing up moves and the like. Even controlling just your character there's a lot of watching and less direct control of actions.
No multiplayer at all, not co-op, not anything unfortunately. There is a toolset with it though, and you never know how crafty people can get with that sort of thing. Don't bet on it though; it's meant to be entirely singleplayer.
Yeah not looking good on the MP front. Got this from the FAQ for those of you who haven't seen it.

Is Dragon Age: Origins a multiplayer game? (Back to top)
Dragon Age: Origins delivers a focused, single-player RPG experience. Since this is the first game set in the world of Dragon Age, the team wanted to concentrate on a single player experience that would allow the players to learn the incredible history, story, and lore in the game.
First game set in the world? are they suggesting they will set more in this world later? possibly with multiplayer?
Still, I will give it a try.

-Humankind cannot gain anything without first giving something in return. To obtain, something of equal value must be lost. That is alchemy's First Law of Equivalent Exchange. In those days, we really believed that to be the world's one, and only, truth.
Damn... i heard that this game is "Disappointment of the year"... they say too much chit chat (which is probably an irrelevant argument) but they also say that the combat is chaotic...
Im currently Dl'ing the game so when i got it ill say what i think.

I think you will like it, really reminds me of a modern day Baldur's Gate.
Also since it's called "Origins" I figured it was given that there'd be more.
Reserved my PC copy today.

I dunno who "they" are.
IGN gave it a 9.2
Gamespot a 9.5
Metacritic a 9.0
I get my copy in a few hours.
Only complaints I've been hearing is the graphics aren't as great as they could be. They look fine to me.
