did u use HDR to get that night into day effect? ive been trying it with my phone camera and the photoshop auto HDR, obviously its not working so well.
also, do you know if you can get raw image files off the phone? all i can get are jpegs and those are meh for editing...
For the night shots, I just set the camera to manual mode so I could control ISO, Aperture, and Shutter speed. I wasn't sure what I was going to get so I opened the Aperture as wide as I could to 2.8, the Shutter speed I set to 15 seconds so it could capture as much light as possible, and I played with the ISO settings (sensor sensitivity) in this case all it took was an ISO 400 to 800 for the best shots.
Your eyes are able to automatically adjust to see greater ranges of detail in light and dark situations. A camera can only capture 18% of what your eyes are able to capture. HDR mode tries to accomplish what your eyes do naturally by taking 3 successive shots in at high, medium, and low light ranges to compensate in scenes where there are both really bright and dark subjects in the same scene.
What happens in shots like this typically, depending on how you setup the shot, is you lose detail in either the light or the dark subjects. To capture as much detail as possible in a shot like this HDR takes the 3 shots and then merges them together to make one high dynamic range shot that captures all the detail you were hoping to get.
Well I'll be damned, I remembered all that from my online courses! Woo Hoo I still have a brain cell!
For getting RAW files which, yeah they are much better, I use Adobe Bridge which pulls them off and then first open them in Adobe Camera Raw before re-sizing, editing them or whatever in Photoshop. You should be able browse your camera's flash drive and copy all the .CR2 files in the worst case scenario.
Fuuuccckkkkkkk these people and their stupid fucking dogs....Just a bunch of lower class trash that has no respect for animals as they keep them caged in these tiny ass backyards so all they do is bark ALL FUCKING DAY. If I had a sniper I would take out these damn dogs lol... After this experience I will never own a dog. And if I have a cat, it will be inside and outside. I'm not going to cage an animal. Owning pets in general is no better than slavery in my eyes as we claim ownership to these creatures who live and die just as we do.
People should require a license to obtain pets and create children, problem solved =P
Now watch the backlash come in.

Playing Diablo since 97. I know nothing and having nothing good to say, I be a troll.
Honestly I never know anymore, I always seem to bother someone with my train of thought. I'm expecting delusional "we have freedom rights" people to get upset or something.

I have a dog. It lives inside and outside. I'm pretty sure if I didn't have locked gates it would get run over by a car eventually.
That's why you break it's will train it to be a good lad and not leave the premises.
Lolz.
And in response to the other post- Yes indeed. Do you think that it is pretty accurate to categorize humans as some sort of virus or bacterial disease? It seems more and more that we are too harmful to our host and either we will kill it, and die, or it will kill us.

We certainly have the ability to destroy our "host," environment, but not the planet itself and rest-assured that even if we nuked the planet into a smoking husk there would be a plethora new life-forms around in a million years or less.
I really do hope our species gains enough knowledge to do more good for this place than harm.

Yes, night shots are tons of fun. I recently did a bunch after a night in town that ended early, and i went out half drunk and stoned to take pictures. These pictures are taken somewhere between 1-3 am. Even the last one! It was pitch black outside, even a bit foggy as you can tell on some shots. here you go: (sorry for crap quality)
Crap quality?! You must be jesting, those are awesome night shots!

I meant the JPG artifacts. Thanks though! I would really love to have some desert to work with, you should try to get some star and moon shots going out in the mountains. I've been to vegas and the surrounding desert a few times, but never with my camera or an opportunity to make use of it. Check the link down below, it's a video by a guy that does some really killer night shots. If you have any doubts on how to approach it, this guy will get you going. His intention is to catch galaxies and such, but I think you might be able to do it too if you find a particularly deserted place in the desert. Like a ghost town or something, that would be absolutely awsome! Can you imagine the look of an old western town with the milky way in the background, shot with a 15mm fisheye!? And mountains too! Do it!
Awesome and thanks, I learned something new with the rule of 600, I added Ben Canales website to my favorites. Artifacts, oh yes I was just watching a Ben Long video on that this morning. I'm debating with myself if I should get a Canon D60 or a D7, but leaning now towards the D7. Presently I'm shooting with a Canon PowerShot G12. I must say I am still awestruck at how many full blown SLR features that little thing has.

Anyone care for an extra dose of insanity?
Did he say "wolf kebab"?
Counterpoint: Species we don't domesticate are 100% more likely to go extinct because we destroy their natural habitat.
Also, slave-master Proletaria checking in with a dog and cat (although both of mine live happy lives in a rural area without cages and such).

Now you have a small glimpse as to why he's locked up and will never get out. The other would be the Tate family Helter Skelter murders.

Having the knowledge ain't the problem. To many dicks with the mindset of only looking out for themselves.
