My Razer Banshee has taken a crap on me. I was wondering what headsets you guys use and what you recommend. (It's honestly my fault it took a crap on me...I dropped it a lot..)
I used to use Skull Candy headsets most the time, but personally now I just prefer a nice Logitech headset. I can't imagine how nice a headset needs to be for you though. To me if it sounds real good and doesn't hurt your ears or head to wear for a long time then it's good.

True enough....I love my Banshee to death....I was thinking about maybe a Logitech G930...but that would be hella expensive :P!!
Most headsets seem to be ridiculous overpriced crap. My best impressions are of the Sennheisers. I also like their headphones.
True enough in itself. The Razer Banshee wasn't bad, but my microphone stopped working, and the equalizers are junking out. I could use a wireless headset so that's why I'm looking into the g930..
How do the Sennheisers fair up in FPS games? Can you hear people walking up on you?
If you're on a budget and really want a headset I would recommend you Sennheiser PC151. Sennheiser is at least an audiophile company and not a gaming one.
This.
Granted, I use separate headphones and mics lol...
The logitech g35 My link is a spectacular piece, I've used it almost a year now. Active noise passive noise isolation and a great fit make it very comfortable and clear for prolonged sessions. However I'll be buying a megalodon when I get my new pc and just keeping my g35 with my laptop.
I'd suggest my megalodons, they have a pretty good sound, not tinny, not muddy, they get loud enough, and if you need directional audio they work fine. Especially since you can customize the levels of each set of speakers and the Bass. My friend tells me the mic is crystal clear and is amazing. Now onto my recommendations for your budget. Since 120 is pushing it for you, you probably can't get a simulated surround device for FPS so you are limited to stereo options although that isn't bad. They are always up gradable in the future if you buy say the astro mixamp, one of the best out there.
1. Cheap Razer Orcas, I know i'm a razer fanboy but trust me read reviews on this headset it apparently has phenomenal audio quality, comparable of that to Audiotechnica-AD700 which are considered amazing but pricey. now for the mic here is a pretty good mod. IDK about mic quality but i read about this mod somewhere. Get This Mic Saw off the part right about the ear piece ,and get good velcro and strap it to the left earcup, then just wire it like you normally would.
2.Turtle Beach HPX or HPA2, Basically the same headset easily upgradable to virtual surround and already have a mic. Considered one of the best gaming headsets out there, console users rave about this one being better than Astro A40's cause of the richer bass. Also many people agree TB makes some badass mics that are of very good quality.
3. Sennheiser. I have never heard these but people absolutely love them. just to give you an example of why i have never had them here is the price of the HD 800's the finest in the line $1,799.95 and here is the cheapest $29.95 now alot of people that i have heard from say get PC 360 if you are on a budget, and if you can go off a little get HD 550 or 585. I have no testament to these, but alot of other people do. just go to MLG.com and look through the forums of some of these headset reviews and notice how they don't actually like the "gaming" headsets, but only the PC gaming ones, or quality headphones paired with a cheap ass mic. Also a clipon mic allot of people use is the Zalman mic1 clip on mic. Pretty decent nothing special lets in allot of background noise though, i've read something about an olympus one but can't seem to find it off the top of my head.

I use Labtec LVA-7330 as my mic (no idea how "good" it is but gets the job done and nobody complained) because it got leftover after mom's Skype conversations... and very very old Sennheiser HD 590 as headphones, because I doubt any cheap mic will approach that sound.

Did you saw the mic part off like the previous guy said to?
Did you saw the mic part off like the previous guy said to?
...no. I don't think that would work. I just wear my headphones on my ears and wear the mic on my neck lol. Probably looks stupid but I am alone in my room.

I've been thinking of purchasing a Sony MDR-V6. Has anyone heard anything about these headphones?

My place really was here. I was too foolish and stubborn to notice. But, what I truly hoped for then was here. Why do I always realize it When I've already lost it.
i absolutely love my G35... ive also heard the corsair HS1 is a good headset.
personally if you like to listen to a lot of music, get a separate set of headphones and headset for around your neck as was stated above... headsets (especially gaming headsets) are normally not made to be the absolute best audio since for the price you have to put in a mic too. just my $.02

You don't just saw off the mic, right when the headband starts going up cut a half inch away from that point, and it'll work fine, there is no wiring to the other side of the headband because it functions only as a headband, and to keep it on your head.

That's what I meant. I saw what it looked like so I figured that's what you meant.

I heard some good stuff about Speedlink Medusa's though
I can't afford another headset that's $120+...The g930 is honestly pushing my budget. -sigh-...Life sucks sometimes!
Thanks for your replies so far!
If you're on a budget try the Speedlinks. They're not too pricey.
