the main problem about everyone being allowed to vote is that without the proper education they're just as lambs that follow anyone that feeds them - no matter if they're fed to slaughter after a little while. Education system in the US is one of the worst around - as for access to the regular people. Most remain uneducated cause the government wants them this way. Not that its any different in most of the other countries of the world (Germany, Scandinavian countries and Japan may be exception of this rule - i'm not excluding my own country).
200,000,000 votes if done by lambs shouldnt be considered imo. But we cant find out who is such a "lamb" in the first place. All we can do is fight for a better education system... if not for ourselves for the ones that come after us at least.
its not only the american education system. its most education systems these days. We gain knowledge, nothing about how to use them. Whats missing is philosophy the way it was a few thousand years ago. No ethics, no nothing.
now to correct you with something:
Education does not help that much. There is too much propaganda to know who is right or wrong without deep research that no one has time for.
now tell me, who has more chance to see through the propaganda. An uneducated, misled person or an educated "open-eyed" person? Most education systems these days tend to "grow" people of the first category. The ones of the second are few and so well paid that dont do anything about it anyway.

My opinion about "using knowledge" is rather drastic... I don't think "use of knowledge" can be taught at all.

While their chances are far from each other, both of them are miles away from getting to the truth. With the exception of politicans, historians, actuaries, statisticans and other non-everyday people. A regular truck driver will never be able to see through propaganda. If he could, he wouldn't be a truck driver.
People are not lams because they are taught to be such. They are lambs because they are less intelligent at its base. There is always the kid who just can't get calculus, and always the kid that whizzes through integral equations as though they are a joke... But, as I said, my opinion is a bit drastic and completely unproven, don't bash me on this.
education systems are the way they are because they are run by the governments. all of them are government controlled, so naturally people have a secure pay, no matter how bad they do. its a system based on socialism, and as we can see its not working, even for socialists. my solution is to peel off social education from the masses, and replace it with capitalist education. i guarantee you that it will become more effective, more efficient, less troublemakers, and teachers that get paid what their worth. i mean, there are really good teachers that arent paid much, even really good teachers that are paid the same as the ones that dont give a crap. that is unfair, and that is why education is getting worse and worse.
And I can guarantee that a decision like that will, after about 20 years, totaly destroy the economy due to lack of specialists and educated workforce for businesses.
the reason our education system sucks is because for some reason they insist on putting money into building new prisons before putting it into schools. and the NCLB act, which basically is intended to make the children of the US into one mediocre, mundane mass. and no art/music/phys ed programs, because of the funding they dont get. and no books in the intercity schools, because they dont get funding because they get horrible test scores. they get horrible test scores because the intercity kids have more shit to deal with and their schools are shitty. and bush is like just pay for your kid to go to private school, thats what daddy did for me. heh heh heh.
US education sucks because there is too much focus on numbers and too little on application. Kids learn how to solve static equations that always come in the same for, but give them a whole different wrapping and they get confused. I also see pointless assignments just for the sake fo giving homework, without any heed as to whether it will be beneficial or not.
For your information Carloseus, the top ranking three countries in the world regarding intelligent kids are Finland, Japan and Hong Kong. I don't know about Hong Kong, but the first two are government run.
The US lies on (about) place 25 out of the 31 richest countries in the world.
As for Bush, whether he did a good decision or not, the US is in the shit right now, and you have to get out of it.

Hey, I don't know how they do the list, but Hong Kong was on there
But I'm not referring to checking precisely. Let me give you an example:
America
Get into class, go through last time's homework, go through next chapter, get next homework, end of class.
Sweden
Get into class, go through next chapter, get at most 10 problems that are all different in more than quantities, no homework. Rince and repeat.
And for all you "hard work is needed to succeed" people, this teacher has doctored in mathematics. Not saying that tells him how to teach, but so far all my previous teachers have worked like this too.

lets just go in and kill all them dudes with the laundry on their heads and leave that poor country george bush sux and thats it. drop the a-bomb and leave em alone.
Uh, laundry on their heads? Wow, your credibility is through the roof!
Seriously though, Bush right now is about as lame duck as you can get. With both houses of Congress in Democrat control, an approval rating as low as Nixon's, and even most of his die hard Republican supporters turning on him, there is little left Bush can do during the rest of his presidency. Issues about Iraq aside, it's likely he'll attempt to salvage some kind of legacy by supporting neutral to popular legislation brought on by the Democrats.
As far as the Iraq war, it doesn't seem he's gonna get his 20,000 troop surge. Nor is Bush willing to talk with Syria or Iran about helping stabilize the region. But sure enough, one thing the U.S. has always feared is another Iran. And with the Shia dominiated government in Iraq, and Maliki reluctant to disband his Shia militias, you can't help but wonder if another Iran is exactly what's brewing in Iraq. Quite the mess, really.
first of all, Sianoq has violated the rule for this discussion, no flaming on bush.
that being said im going to tell you that if bush wants his 20,000 troop surge he's going to get it. all he needs is to sign a lil paper, and there they go. then there is a 30 day period before congress can decide whether or not they want to fund it. and unless they have a death wish, they will fund it because if they dont it would send a message of not supporting the troops to the american public, in which we would get every last congress member out.
thats all that i will address for now, because i got better things to do than address idiots.

Perhaps you're referring to me calling Bush a lame duck president. That's hardly an unfair thing to say. It's a common term to refer to a president who is in their second term with relatively less power as when they first began office.
The only way that is a fair say if we are talking about your opinion. You did break the rule.
Any good president, e.g., the one who wants to help the nation, will stay in his seat no longer than one term. Except a good president won't become president in the first place... stupid system.
Eh, I simply don't understand. I mean, he really is a lame duck president. But I'll instead call him the incredible shrinking president.
For the dim, innattentive, disrespectful: "No flames to Bush or anyother opinons out there, only constructive reasoning." (c) DarknessAngel, first post of this thread.
What you understand or not understand doesn't matter. You don't flame on Bush in this thread, this thread is for constructivity! There are other threads to flame Bush in. Or provide some arguments or something.
"Lame duck" is a common expression used to describe a certain stage in someone's presidency. It's not really a derogatory word. I'm a political science major so I can't help using such jargon. It's merely the best way to describe where Bush is at right now.
Surely other people have said far less constructive things than I in my first post in this thread.
And honestly how can we not assert our opinions to some degree. As long as you explain why you are saying something. This is the internet. Are all of you really going to pass off what you say as undisputed fact? Or will you admit that to a point, it's also your opinion?
Ah, sorry then, didn't know it was a term. I thought it was something of another sort.
Yeah, but that doesn't really mean anything.
Nothing wrong with opinions, just don't say "Bush is a jerk", without arguments . Well, I think that's what DarknessAngel meant. Anyway, you didn't say anything wrong.
And if you read some of my other posts, I place under scrutiny any "fact" presented by anyone, and I can pretty far on being paranoid.

other than that i cant agree with you more, to much on numbers not enough application
ask yourself, what is worse, homework everyday thats checked or homework everyday thats checked every so often
