Very early this morning, Blizzard made a post from Mike Morhaime explaining that the D3 release date was going to be moved into "early 2012." We have a very simple question for you all, what do you think about this changing, after the amount of times they reiterated they were aiming for a 2011 release?
Glad they're taking their time.
Excited to have a longer Beta.
Sucks having to wait.
Release buggy, patch later (Microsoft!).
Don't really care.
In our previous poll, we wanted to know what you thought about Paypal being Blizzard's cash distributor for the Auction House. I think you guys made it pretty clear that you expected this to happen, with 55% of the votes coming in on that choice.
With the Closed Beta officially beginning, we have plenty to talk about, as well as the item database going up on the D3 site, and a ton of class changes. If you missed the twenty-sixth episode, you can check it out here. Otherwise, the twenty-seventh episode covered the following topics:
Just an FYI on the gold topic: The creation of a level 60 rare costs 20k+ MINIMUM per item. The cheapest rare quiver is 20000 and the prices go up from there... others are 51k and 30k respectively... so 30k isn't really that much.
Also the legendary items are being taken down because they're an early version.
Item data we've exposed is by and large placeholder, and we're actually in the process of pulling it down due to a lot of reactions just like this. We thought it'd be cool to show some pre-release items in very temporary states, but it's just a matter of fact that people are going to take it at face value. Not that you or anyone else isn't able to discuss the particulars without assuming it's final content, we don't believe that to be true, but in general we don't think the discourse is healthy when it's going to be largely based on placeholder data.
To comment on your specific points though, the vast majority of affixes are simply not implemented in-game, and as the website directly queries game data, it can't pull something that isn't implemented. I'd say affixes are though one area where we want to do as much as possible by game release, but they are directly limited by when we want to finally get the game out the door. At some point feature creep has to stop, and we have to begin testing what should be (game mechanic-wise) a final product.
As you stated though a lot of the crazier affixes did not ship with Diablo II, but were added later. I don't believe that's because the designers didn't have those ideas, but they simply make more sense to expand and broaden the game featureset post-ship. You could argue that it's something that should be baked into the core experience, that Diablo III should be mechanically more complex than Diablo II at release, and the fact of that matter is that it is substantially more complex than Diablo II was at launch.
Bottom line we want as many affixes as we can get for launch, but with runestones, passives, and the itemization we're shooting for, we're already launching a game with far more diverse build potential than Diablo II.
Here's some evidence that Diablo himself is behind this. Something about trying to delay being slaughtered millions of times before he even gets a chance to celebrate Christmas.
Given the low values of hatred generation from the abilities... I suspect hatred will still generate on it's own and hatred generators will just give you a boost to that.
That's fine with me. I've been waiting about 10 years for Diablo 3. I want it right and as perfect as it can be. A few more months? Yes, I'm anxious, but I would rather have a game I have been expecting than something pushed out the door. I've played games with rushed release dates only to be very disappointed. Blizzard never does that, and I for one appreciate that aspect of their philosophy. My friends and I have conjured up our own expectations of Diablo 3 before it was announced, and needless to say we have high expectations for every aspect of this game. To me it's more than just a game, it's re-living the past with my friends. Where we all hopped on battle.net and slayed some monsters and searched for gear. Looking back, those were some great moments in our lives. I want Diablo 3 to be able to capture that essence as well. So, if it takes a little more time to be capable of meeting or exceeding my expectations, then please take the time to do it.
I really wouldn't care but the "early 2012" release coincides w/ the same time I will be in Basic Officer Training. After that I have two years worth of flight school which I hear is pretty intense. Then I have to get my masters if I ever want to make Colonel. Basically. Due to this delay I will never get to play the game. That is, unless they let me into the beta.
Force and Sixen was discussing about concerns that casters might just equip 2handers with most dps but I think what blizzard can do is add caster affix with lower dps 1handers like +faster cast time or +20 magic damage or specific school of magic like +fire damage or even go over board like + 1 sec. decrease cooldown on wizard only or any kind of caster advantage affixes. Just a thought.

I love all loot fest kind of game! I will be playing all of them for the next few years. Loot fest games I'm looking forward to: LotR: War in the North,Torchlight 2,Borderlands 2 and of course Diablo 3.
That's fine, but they better invite me into the Beta. I have my original D2 cd key registered on bnet and I'm one of the franchise's most loyal fans. That's all I'm gonna say about that. Also, shoutout to Force for doing those Let's Plays and helping me get through this difficult period of waiting.

Diablo fans deserve a downloadable version of the Blizzcon D3 demo.
This is bullshit. 7+ months of (internal) testing, and this is what we get? I think this is a ploy just to string out a few more WoW subscriptions for patch 4.3 in the meantime. Diablo III will likely release 1 month after the Deathwing raid has been completed on heroic mode. Calling it here and now.

Just to differentiate it from spirit and fury.
I know that I already am...
I know that I already am...
This makes me angry, but did anyone not suspect this? It's Blizzard...

Edit: Btw, I can't listen to the podcast, says the event is over or errors when I try to get to it.
