D2 skill tree was even close to being perfect though. It had poor choices, with only 1-2 active skills and very few build ideas for each class. Synergies were introduced much later, and it actually limited your choices further! you were forced to max out things you wouldn't typically use in your primary build. Furthermore, every build was: Strength- none, Dexterity, none, Energy, none, Vitality, max
I don't want that again. I don't want POE either, which requires studying and hours on forums researching synergy. This skill tree at least is headed in the right direction, by not being D3, which was pick skills without consequence around BIS gear that everyone uses.
I would prefer a simple tree of choices that get powerful the more you commit points into. Add further customization to your build with things from the arsenal and enchantment system. Then you throw items in the mix, and now your character and build looks more unique and stands out a bit more.
They have a long way to go, but D2 skill tree should not be what they are looking at for perfection. because it wasn't. -

So more non-season junk to horde? No thanks.
I don't even bother bring my season stuff over to nonseason. Its just not worth it with how frequently they change items and how easy you can find a full set. No im going back to d2 when the ladder resets -

Raids as an end game mechanic? Shows how disconnected they are from what made Diablo.. Diablo. It doesn't need that
I still play Diablo 2. It needs to be like that game. Legendaries are way too strong, one way builds for late game sucks, get rid of skill changes, make it more co-op friendly.
The closer it is to an RPG and less MMO the better the game would be its what the community has always wanted -

May 28, 2012NoK posted a message on Diablo III - Game Design UpdateI spent over 1 million leveling the blacksmith and jeweler and I don't even use them. I am glad they will lower these prices because maybe then I will have that need to use them. So far my gear I found is better. I am excited about the LEGEND-wait for it- DARY as well.Posted in: News
I don't care if i get a refund because I will make my money bank in 1 day of Inferno. I can clear act1 pretty easily now -

What would be the point to progress through act 1 if they hadn't changed the old system? I mean I can farm act 1 all the time as the drop is the same as in act 4, so there is no need to play through it.
Unless your like me and half the other people on here who play for challenges like this.. I mean c'mon. Farming gets old after a while and people want a break from that. Even PvP. Ever play the Ubers in D2? That was some of the funnest moments I had with friends even though its impossible to do unless you had a smiter pally, now this on the other hand. This is an acceptable challenge
Thank you Blizz -

Oct 6, 2011NoK posted a message on Diablo III in SpaceI like it. It makes you feel powerful. I remember in Titans Quest the more powerful you were in comparison to the monsters you were killing, the stronger the 'moon effect' would become. That's a great way to make you feel stronger, as a player. Keep it up.Posted in: News

I find the nit picking that you are trying to prove your point isn't working. Of all the information provided, it was clear the leaked info was very accurate

honestly.. I felt like this was their d2 remake, but due to all the negative attention they were getting before Blizzcon, they were pressured to showcase something and called it "Diablo 4"
I am happy with Paladin and Amazon though. With all the exciting news and info GGG proved at their Exilecon, I think Blizzard better get to work and listen to the community when designing Diablo 4
0
For me I hope Paladin and Demon Hunter.
I remember watching Blizzcon when they were developing Diablo 3 and they announced the Monk. I was afraid how that would work, with combos and punching things. Though the mechanics were pretty good I never liked the flavor in the dark fantasy setting.
If they do something new I wouldn't mind seeing a Gunslinger to replace Amazon.

Fantastic! My brother and I became real close after sharing the family compaq PC to play Diablo as well. We kept taking turns and man, it was the best experience. I remember it was raining outside out house and raining in game, and we were running around in this eery world. Couldn't wait to get back to town to feel a sense of relief. I have always loved the sounds of the items in D2

That is a concern if true, but I do remember seeing a lot of items with bonuses though. Some from D2, D3, and new. Crit, cooldown, reduce resource costs, + to max mana, crushing blow, etc. I don't know if they just threw in D3 bonuses for demo purpose or if its going to have the same stats as diablo 3 and diablo 2 maybe some new ones.
+2 to light radius or 20% FHR might be a thing again.
Smaller bonuses are better. Then you're not depending on the item as much as and have more options available to help your build choices. I think some exemplary items like string of ears or shaftstop will stick out a lot more now and be more rewarding if they are unique in their bonus stats.
Keep in mind: the smaller the numbers the better. I don't want to see billions of damage anymore and that was the reason why PvP failed in D3
I hated the d2 runewords, For me, it turned into vast collecting and storage of runes on mules, and I never used them most of the time. Wasting time looking up recipies only to have access to weak or useless words was a painful experience. The useful ones were hard to come by if you played solo or legit, and even then it was a very small selection actually worth persuing. I used a few to level up and craft enigma later, but it wasn't a fun experience.
I agree they can have both system in place if done right. Currently what we have seen is great. It makes the runes immediately useful when you find them. Plug them in and continue going. I like the active and passive stuff, its like POE gems. Works well.
While that is true I did't expect this on a blizzcon demo of not even an alpha game. I think when blizzcon IT tried to help a streamer with some issues he said, "go to the details page" and it wouldn't pull up. maybe it was just disabled for now
Yeah I agree with this concern. I don't think there is enough information right now but I do not want to see random people running around unless its in a PvP zone or trading space.
The world map? The pathing? What we so far is good enough I don't see why this is a concern.

So we have all been interested in a Diablo 4 for quite sometime and now that its finally announced we can start discussing about what we see rather than what we hope to see. I would like to hear what you like and dislike. If you are only getting tid bits of information because you didn't attend Blizzcon I would recommend checking out the VODs on Twitch from the streamers that were announced to live stream: Wolfcyer, Bluddshed, Quin69, Rhykker, Neratrite, Kripparian, MrLlamaSC, Leviathan111, Bajheera & Warcraftjen were the announced streamers but I don't think they all streamed or have VODs available.
I would especially recommend watching Quin69 and Rhykkers stream towards the end where they had the developers ask/ answer questions, though most things they answered was also brought up in the Systems and Features panel.
Personally I think the arsenal mechanic for the barbarian is one of my favorite take aways so far. I loved the Barb in D2 but hating limiting myself to either maces, polearms, swords, etc always made me frustrated when I would build for swords then find a BoneSnap for example. With this new idea you can have 4 weapon slots. Two for 1-H weapons, and two for 2-H weapons, each slashing and bludgeoning I think. They are used automatically depending on the skill requirements.
One thing I am skeptical about is the MMO aspect. I don't like seeing characters running around and breaking the immersion of a dangerous world. I prefer to play solo or with 1 or 2 other people. World events might be interesting but we'll see in time. I know others share the same feelings.
Lastly, what I hope for is a slow leveling process. I've always hated the 0-70 in a few hours in D3. In diablo 2, you worked hard for XP and building a character who most of the time was never completed even after months of playing. I would rather have a game with that sort of longevity. In diablo 3, I would be wearing BIS max level in the same day, pretty defeating.

My first impression was similar. This looks about the same just gritty. However, after watching all the streamers and VODs though, it is apparent that this is a demo, and there is still a lot more to do. The announcement might have been a forced thing too. Older Diablo systems were used for the sake of ease in pushing out a demo. David Kim in Rykkers stream said something along the lines as, This is all the content we have done and completed so far. Which is not much. "Not even Blizzard soon" shows that as well. As they continue to worldbuild and balance, there will be many changes. The demo in d3 was much different then the game today. The big difference is how they listen to the community. Now that this is shared with the community there will be a lot more voices chiming into this project.
Remember, D3, the Devs ignored a lot of what we were asking for with little information in between Blizzcons. The system failed us which in turn made a failed game. Blizzard knows this. They are already being a lot more open about this game and expectations I hope that continues after Blizzcon.
My wife enjoys diablo 3, I enjoy diablo 2. I think they want 4 to be the combination of both.

Welcome to the forums. Keep in mind there are a lot of options and details we just don't know yet. Many games have highlight effects that you can turn on and off, like Divinity. That way its both accessible for new players and immersive veterans. Although there are some features from D3, you cannot deny the grittiness, textures, and dark corners are indeed a step in the right direction. This is a demo for Blizzcon, expect many changes. I played the Diablo 3 Blizzcon demo 10 years ago, and it was a completely different game to compared what it is today.

that quality made me nostalgic of diablo 2

diablo is dead. Its a fun game but it doesn't captivate you like D2 did. Even after so many years playing it obsessively I notice things I didn't see before in that game, and tried builds I haven't tried before.
Diablo 3 you get end game gear and max level in 2 hours.. its boring asF
0
Great idea. Playing this game Solo is the only way to play honestly. Back in Vanilla I had a HC DH on Inferno, made it to Act 3, which was pretty impossible at the time, and it was very rewarding.
So if you want to have a refreshing experience- Make it highest difficulty, and a level 1 character on HC.. go.
Its not as challenging as you think, not like d2, but still more enjoyable. You unlock skills and find/ use weapons you normally wouldn't.
If you are bored of the end game content, everyone looks the same and has the same builds.. its boring as fuck, try it out. Remember In D2, you cherished what you found and skills as you leveled? I still go for that feeling when I play D3.
Playing in groups is boring imo
0
There is not end game tbh. You can have ancient BIS gear and do all the journeys and challenges within a few weeks of playing.
(I did all the above in less than 2 weeks on the HC server, beat grift 82 then stopped playing.. started playing off/ on with some buddies on SC, but even that is boring now)
Basically its a grind of legendary gems to augment, and finding primal items like you said, usually roll worse in most cases. The game is enjoyable when you start fresh characters and adapt skills based on the items you find with some buddies. Once it hits endgame, its just a bore like doing baal runs all over again.

Necro hands down. Even the Rathma set that you get in the season will carry you to 90+
Its both tanky and dps. So solo, thats exactly what you need. my profile is Nokturnal #1520 you can look at the gear, skills, i use but its pretty much the build everyone uses with a few varients
0
So Im a little over pushing solo grifts on a maxed out Necro. Gathered up some buddies and we are gonna start playing lvl 1's (we dont like to be rushed, it takes the fun out of the game) and our goal isn't to really climb the ladder but rather enjoy the game as a group. Most of my friends play the game casual so I don't think they would preform well on the HC ladder anyhow.
What characters have you guys tried in the past, that is simple, good in a group, but also good for hardcore that they can possibly try? Thanks
