They mentioned nicer drops, but I wonder if that is still going to follow the linear progression of stats we will expect from lvl 1-60 or if indeed it has to be accelerated to compensate for the lack of new skills after max level.
You probably missed it in the article but there will be unique items only found in inferno so there's a good possibility that these items will be much greater but not a giant leap from the gears found in Hell, stat wise And the same thing goes visually. Exciting stuff indeed.

I love all loot fest kind of game! I will be playing all of them for the next few years. Loot fest games I'm looking forward to: LotR: War in the North,Torchlight 2,Borderlands 2 and of course Diablo 3.
One thing is certain: you won't get any new stat increases or skills from leveling, so to tackle Inferno difficulty gear is going to have to play a bigger role. There's an inherent added challenge to this because now you need even better gear to compensate for the lack of skills. Will that come from Inferno drops or will they just curve down the level range of the monsters.

I was just talking about this last night with a buddy of mine. Inferno was going to be the fun, the gauntlet. The reason to keep on and my way of coping with losing Baal runs (which I did enjoy because of the seven others charging in with you). Community really does do odd things to me.
Oh well. I'm quite happy and I look forward to tackling this monster, hopefully gearing myself out and all the other frustrations and rewards that come with this.

I was hoping so
Indeed. Loot will play a bigger role than ever, which I think is fantastic.

It can't scale too much, or it will be impossible for new characters to enter the difficulty and survive. And since the difficulty is supposed to be relatively even across all the acts in Inferno, the same items will probably be possible to get from both the ac1 and act 4 bosses.
PlugY for Diablo II allows you to reset skills and stats, transfer items between characters in singleplayer, obtain all ladder runewords and do all Uberquests while offline. It is the only way to do all of the above. Please use it.
Supporting big shoulderpads and flashy armor since 2004.
I fear gear will be too easy to get. As _only_ the best gears drop there.
Sorry for the comparison, but it sounds like it will be like an instance in WoW where you are guaranteed to get like, 1 good item from the boss. So you do it 3-4 times and there you go, you have all your gear.
TLDR:
I hope it won't hurt replayability too much by giving you all the best gear too easily.
Hehe yeah. It's the race who gets to finish Inferno!
Anyway I've been hoping that blizzard adds another item quality but it wasn't a valid suggestion before. Since there's an inferno difficulty maybe add an item quality before legendary. Perhaps bring back unique?

I believe the first news about the confirmation of Inferno was posted by Dalren who joined Curse on 01-August '11 & Hicksology who joined Curse 02-August '11, mainly due to the Diablo III hype.
Contrary to what I said that Inferno difficulty level would be a secret choice that would only appear after a player beats the Hell difficulty level,
it seems that another requirement is that you have to level cap your character to 60 as well.

Median XL did the same thing ie ilvl 121 areas and that ended up being a grind/farm fest.
Sorry to burst the bubble.

September, 2012 ?
Or the beta?

I'll have to find my post but is was before aug for sure. nice try.
I want to give credit to Dalren whose thread, entitled: "Inferno difficulty revealed at Gamescom" which was posted Today @ 01:52 PM GMT
http://www.diablofans.com/topic/27197-inferno-difficulty-revealed-at-gamescom/
& to Hicksology whose thread, entitled: "Inferno difficulty confirmed!" who posted his thread a minute earlier @ 1:51 PM GMT.
http://www.diablofans.com/topic/27196-inferno-difficulty-confirmed/
Both threads were by far an hour & 50mins earlier than this thread posted by ScyberDragon @ 3:40 PM GMT.

So now the equation is:
COMPLETED HELL DIFFICULTY + (LEVEL ≥ 60) = INFERNO DIFFICULTY LEVEL ACCESS GRANTED
Now, I'm even more excited for the Beta and ultimately for the game's release, hopefully before the Christmas holidays.
.
My PvP build would be different from these 13.

Diablo III is $50; MSI GT683DXR-423US Gaming Laptop is $1,599; Playing Diablo III w/ my wife & 2 brothers is PRICELESS
But I'm glad there's going to be some very difficult challenges, playing through inferno with a couple of friends sounds like it'll be a blast.
You'll be 60 by the end of hell.
You say that now, but when you're struggling to make it passed act 1 in Inferno I think you'll change your tune.
