My first encounter with duriel, don't remember so much since it's been like 7 years now
When I think back, I liked my barb then but now I hate him
But, I agree that butcher should be on the number one of the coolest/scary moments in diablo

Butcher in Diablo III should be called Butcher, not Smith like in DII.
The Smith delivers a good damage, but is not like the Butcher.
He was all about gore, not guarding a weapon or a place.
Had to create an account just to say they got #1 right. First thing that popped in to my head was "ahhhhh, fresh meat" Although I've gotta say there were other moments in Diablo I that were more atmospheric and cool than some that they listed. King Leoric, Halls of the Blind etc.
Definitely has to be a tie between the Butcher and Duriel....
I youtubed the butcher thing and it surely isn't the same experience as it was ages ago...it was bloody terrifying when I played it first...Leoric was pretty scary to see as well. Duriel was the most purely scary thing in Diablo II hands down- totally unexpected.
So i guess it's sorta...'AHH FRESH MEAT!' -vs - "LOOKING FOR BAAL!?"
Love the list brings back some real good memorys. Tho one thing I loved in D1 was Apoclypes the spell was awsome, you could walk around diablos prison and cast it to kill him without even getting hurt too funny.
