I dunno, it really doesn't look like Diablo, the more I look at it. It looks very different from the way he looked in the previous games. My guess is that its a different demon, or a fusion of the other evils in order to preserve Diablo's essence within them. Also If you remember from the previous games, Diablo is really a mutated physical form of an individual possesed by his soul stone as seen in the ending of the first game. Therefore, Diablo may take different formes depending on the individual or host body bearing the soul stone.
And of course theres the possibility that it is mearly a new interpretation of Diablo's appearance :P.

Mabye it wasn't really destroyed, you got me
It really makes little sense how it can be any of the prime evils than since al of their soul stones were destroyed, unless they somehow exist outside of the soul stones in another form, or perhaps the fragments of the shattered soul stones were rejoined somehow.
Actually, can you guys remind me, what happened to the 'Dark Wanderer' who was supposidly possesed by Diablo, I havn't played Diablo 2 in ages and kinda forgot many of the storyline highlights...

NO NO NO
i meant that the soulstones both acted as prisons and anchors for the Prime Evils (since they cant stay in the Mortal plane for long) so in shattering the soulstones in the hellforge the evils were sent back to the deepest parts of hell itself, for Baal i dont kno
Mephisto is not red-colored (well we didnt actually see his "true" form" like diablo's) so my guess is it's diablo that's back and is more powerful than ever. And you also said he looked pretty pissed, duh what demon cant roar and look like he's about to go on a mad rampage.
Well, Diablos' 'true form' has been pretty well established from D1 and D2, and though we only say the face and/or shoulder of that demon, to me it seems to diverge from Diablo enough to rend any physical link between the two.
As for the second part, demons that can't make jokes, as I attempted to do

i was talking about Mephisto, he hasnt reached full potential
and yes i know diablo's true form were in D1 and 2 but i wasnt talkin about him
Ranger - Ranged Weapon Mastery (fire a bow or javelins like a machine gun!), Traps (MK style!), Pets (lions, tigers, and bears oh my!) - physical damage based
Demonologist - Bone Spells (Necro style!), Avatar (shapeshift into a demon!), Furies (evil spirits that hang around you, giving party bonuses) - mix of physical damage and magic
LEAP ATTACK!!!!! PLAGUE OF TOADS!!!!!

I stand by the fact that it *is* Diablo because of the Incarnation theory.
Diablo 1) Diablo uses the body of the Prince to make himself physical in Sanctuary.
Diablo 2) Diablo uses the body of the Dark Wanderer to make himself physical in Sanctuary (again after losing the Prince's body.)
Now, we know that while the two physical manifestations are similar, they are not exactly the same. The Diablo 1 was less reptilian than Diablo 2 and was more humanoid.
So, my theory is that the incredible amount of energy from the comet some how tore through the thin boundary between Sanctuary and the Burning Hells (which, before the Worldstone was destroyed, kept from large, constant conduits from being present. Small ones could be created and only into minute pockets of Hell. The reason the 3 were in Sanctuary was due to the combined forces of the Lesser Evils.) Such a rupture has opened this massive conduit (where we see all these forces marching out) and no doubt, much like how Lilith had been able to slowly revive the Big Three, this source of power jogged the spirit of Diablo from the Burning Hells and caused him to manifest in his true form - the one he was in when the Horadrim first slew and bound him into the Soul stone.
Guys, just because they "Destroyed the soulstone!" doesn't mean anything any more. The Soul stones partially derived from the world stone and with it's destruction, who knows what happened to the plan, but even a more concrete idea is the fact that we know the Brothers knew how to manipulate their soul stones! Who's to say that they couldn't go ahead and some how use them to escape before the final moment?
I mean, here's a good way of figuring out Mephy's return..
he had eight soul-stone pieces! The largest went into the High Priest who became his physical form! We never smashed the other 7!
So... yeah... It's gotta be him.

First thing I thought about with the 3 heads, was Dante's Inferno. Satan in the bottom of hell (circle 9) had 3 faces... Not sure this really has anything to do with the Lore of this game, I just found it interesting.

You didnt need to state the last part wit Mephisto, He is alive, though it is unknown if he will return he was banished back to hell among with Diablo (Baal's soul is most likely still in Sanctuary) The worldstone is gone anyways, the only thing we can do is sit back and watch hell unleashed :rolleyes:
I'm not saying it is or isn't Diablo, but I will support the opposing side here.
Need I say more?
Nice, lol.
I'm excited to see what Diablo 3.0 will look like

Be neat if Azmodan and Belial regained control of hell in Diablo's absence.
well i got this from someone else from the forums (sorry i cant remember yur name) that Hell didnt invade bcuz the face that Diablo and Mephisto battled and took control of hell and then invaded 20 years later, it makes sense but it is still a theory
what 3 headed demon artwork are we talking about here?
The one from the cinematic trailer for Diablo 3.

For Hell Sake Make Diablo The ultimate boss and 99.99% impossible to beat.

Two horns + a huge chin. The demon didn't have horns on his chin so much as a large double chin
If Diablo was going to go skeletal, this is how I think it should look:

I believe it says that Baal succeeds in corrupting it (much like his Soul Stone).
World Stone = HUGE Soul Stone?
Although the only flaw in this theory is that the World Stone is destroyed
However, I haven't put anymore thought into this one either.
