Does anyone else notice that all the tons of new users who registered during the countdown have already disappeared for the most part? A few remained active, but most of them really did seem to never come back after the end of the countdown.
Hype can be a good thing, but it doesn't have the longest lasting effects it would seem. But to those of you who did hang around after the countdown, we hope you have a nice long stay here and remain active.
Hype equaling up to a worthy annoucement will keep people around, though. I'm sure a lot of the newcomers thought that Blizzard acquiring Diablo3.com wasn't that big of a deal.
It did seem that quite a few of the people who registered, or came out of the murky Mists of Lurk, during the countdown were expecting the instant gratification of a game announcement, despite the several warnings to the contrary; most of whom threw a tantrum and left with their noses bent out of shape because they weren't given what they wanted.
And that's fine. I have no desire to be part of a community heavily populated with those of that immature, self-entitled ilk.
I remember the Starcraft II announcement at the last Blizzcon. We were also getting lots of new users then. And once everyone found out it wasn't D3 being announced, they disappeared forever.
Not necessarily. A lot of new people have signed on lately... The site being bought by blizzard probably has something to do with it...
If your concerns are whether Diablo is losing fans, don't be. Thousands of people will join when Blizzard gives the good word. That it will be just a bus stop is another matter. Face it, most people don't really care about Diablo as much as others do. Fan -yes. Life style-not necessarily...

The Barbarian is from Arreat, a very cold snowy mountain top, but they are much tougher than normal humans, so they don't need warmth.

Where are Barbarians originally from? Sumeria, or more specifically Mesopotamia, AKA Europe. Think the Alps and the Pyrenees
Hey guys pretty much just registered yesterday, I just finished reading the two books of Sin War (Birthright & Scales of the Serpent) and still waiting on the third book to come out here in Sydney, I've recently started playing my newly bought Diablo Battlechest since i loved the books so much. The reason why I registered is to get to know more people with the same interest in the games and the books, sure I may have not finished killing the 3 Prime evils of the games but im willing to stick around for the announcement of Diablo 3 whenever that may be, which as far as I know this site is mainly all about. I salute all of the die hard fans who have patiently waited and kept their enthusiam strongly for a seriously long time, but I can tell the wait is not much longer so let us all be happy
hey, i live in Australia too! The Veiled Prophet isn't out yet? I didn't even check, I just went straight to Amazon.com. Go there, order it online, it'll come much quicker!
also, order the other books while you're at it. definitely worth it. and it'll save you a bit of money on postage to buy them all at once.
Coolness! are you in Sydney as well? The last I checked was from Borders, they had two of the Sin War Books so I got them at the same time, Veild Prophet was not on the shelve but I pre ordered one which will probably arrive in a couple of weeks time. I cant wait to get a hold on that Diablo Archive book, looks elite! Hopefully its as good as the Sin War Trilogy.
Ah, I live in Brisbane. Oh yeah, Diablo Archive will be good, though maybe not quite as good as The Sin War. The Archive is a combination of all the other books available except for Moon of the Spider, so make sure to buy that one too and read it after the Archive. They are all separate stories, so don't get confused ;). The Sin War is the only true 'trilogy'.

I'm trying to stick around I swear! But to tell the truth, there really aren't that many threads to post in. I have what... ten posts? I still come for the news, but the only threads that I can really post in are off topic ones... like the Linkin Park thing haha.
Trying to be active, but also trying not to make useless posts (or spam). It's a very difficult balance.
Edit: haha my post count is so low I could guess the right number =P
And in fairness Sng, there hasn't been many interesting threads in the off-topic section lately. But I seriously think that a registered user can even just post once a week and still be considered active.
If I can recognize a username, they are a regular - but as Siaynoq said, it takes at least a post per week to be considered active. But even one post a week is kind of sad. That would be 52 posts a year lol.
