I did a clean installation of Windows 7, and now any game I run now crashes my computer after a random amount of time no longer than 15 minutes (as in, it completely shuts off). This includes 2D games like Diablo II and full 3D games like Oblivion and Torchlight. Oblivion and Bioshock both ran perfectly on completely maxed settings when I had Vista on this same machine. As far as I know, I have all the latest drivers for my hardware, including my chipset (which I had to do manually since Windows 7 couldn't find it online).
OS: Windows 7 Ultimate (64 Bit)
GFX Card: NVIDIA GeForce GT120
CPU: Intel Core 2 Quad Q8200 @ 2.33 GHz 2.34 GHz
RAM: 8 GB DDR2
Harddrive: 640 GB
As far as I can see, it exceeds all the system reqs of my games by far. Anyone that can fix this will get every last bit of my XP. If you need anymore information, just ask.

It just shuts down. One instant everything is working flawlessly, no lag, no odd glitches, and then all at once the screen is black, my monitor power indicator is orange, and my PC is off.
Nope, temp is fine. I'm going to look in to power supply since I've heard it can do this, but at the same time it confuses me that this happens now and didn't with Vista. I suck with computers. I think I curse them on contact.
Okay, I opened it and it said I had one critical error within the last twenty-four hours. I double-clicked it and it showed me a list of every time the error occurred, and it spanned back to a little before Christmas, which was when I upgraded my OS. Here's a ss:
Each one says: "The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first. This error could be caused if the system stopped responding, crashed, or lost power unexpectedly."
Well, it seemes to be widespread. One comment there says:
In many cases, this error occurs often whilst playing graphics intensive PC games - a number of PC games forums are reporting this. My PC is having the same issue and is awaiting technical service. It first began to occur after installing Vista 64bit, but has continued to occur after installing Win 7 64bit.
Of course, I did not have this issue with Vista at all, but it does seem to fit the bill.. Hrm.
This guy apparently had two audio drivers installed which caused the problem. I read this on another forum while searching but I think it was the same guy who just posted in multiple forums.
The issue is either with the power or some hardware or software component that is causing a critical error that is forcing windows to shut down and not a restart or close the offending program.
Check all the connections. You may have a slightly loose cable and that it may not be fully seated. If you opened the case at anytime or moved the PC check the inside cables to make sure none are loose.
I do not have Windows 7
When you checked the devices in Device manager nothing showed up as unknown or any errors on it.
I would check the manufacturer of the computer web site for any drivers. Check if they have a Bios upgrade. Check what the Bios does and follow the instructions for installing it.
One thing I would try is to load into Bios and see if the Computer shuts down after a time. This will tell us it is definitely tell us it is hardware. If it runs with no problem than it is likely an Issue with the OS and some sort of critical component that forces windows to shut down instead of a restart.
If it runs in Bios than load windows into safe mode by pressing F8 at boot. Check if it Shuts down in that mode. If it does not then we know it is something in normal mode that is running that is causing the issue.
I think I gave enough information for now. Hope it works out

Bios is up to date, connections are all as tight, the only device which shows up as unknown is a receiver for my remote which I disabled (long before I started having this issue, and yes, I've tried having it installed). I've been messing around in my bios all last night and it never crashed- it only crashes when I play games, no matter how demanding it is (although, for some reason, Warhammer 40k doesn't crash). I'm going to try some other things you suggested once I get back from B&N's.
I am looking into getting information on your video card.
What sound card do you have?
What chipset do you have?
Do you know what mother board you have including the model #
[edit]
Looking up the support documents that are for the latest version of the drivers for your model.
Did not find anything in there relating your issue.
Can you post the details of the Kernel Power event ID41.
Are they all the same or different. I am hoping that it may have some information in there that may allow us to narrow it down.
[Another Edit]
It was suggested by DaWg to check if more than one Audio Device is listed to disable all but one one.
If you are saying it is happening about 15 minutes after the game starts. The issue maybe that the OS may think it is time to sleep or Hibernate and not realizing that the game is playing and the OS has a Kernel Panic and shuts down. Try disabling Hibernation and Standby as well screensaver when trying to play a game that is causing crashes.

Could you give me a link or something so I can figure that stuff out? I'm not quite smart enough there

All the details are exactly the same: "The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first. This error could be caused if the system stopped responding, crashed, or lost power unexpectedly";

Okay, going to try it now.
Edit~
I rebooted in safe mode and it wouldn't even run any of my games.
In safe mode it is unlikely to play games since it loads the bare minimum that windows needs to load. We just want to see if the computer crashes in safe mode.
The easiest method is opening up device manager and then check the sound section. You are likely going to see something link realtek or or some sort of High Definition Audio.
To find out the motherboard model it may be easier to find out is the computer a brand name such as Dell, HP, etc. If it is what is the model of the computer. I can check there support pages and sift through the drivers section and so on to get the rest of the information on the model.

Not sure if that would help you in any way.
