I was thinking of maybe getting Guild Wars, to fill the void until i get Diablo 3.
Is it any good, ive heard its pretty good, and its free to play online, so its kinda got my vote based on that alone.
and how many people here have it, prehaps we should look at getting SICK onto it or something.

I have it. It's ok. The free is the good part. It's strictly group-based questing. The level cap is 20 and everyones gear is the same just looks different. You are allowed 2 classes which is a bonus and you can change your stat points around at any time while in town. It isn't free roam. You go into the wild and you have your own little area for you and your party to explore. There is a max party of 8. You don't find armor, you make it. You find weapons and the rareness goes by color which also changes how good it is. Blue, Purple, Orange and Green. Grey items are garbage. You can scrap useless items for materials which you use to make your armor. Any questions? lol
It is pretty good, large amounts of people on it...much like WoW without the ogres and such. I favor guild wars greatly...I would have to say the only downfall is the many expansion packs out their to keep up with the great game play.

Factions is the best IMO. Nightfall sucks and Prophecies is very slow. I get bored with GW very quickly though because there's no uniqueness between players. Just the type/color of your armor even though it all does the same thing.
yeh, thats one reason i havent got into it yet. multiple expansions.

I didn't like GW all that much. It becomes very repetitious. I didn't get the expansion packs so I couldn't say how good they are. The gameplay itself is pretty much like WoW. It's walk around attack a unit, walk around attack a unit. Pray a pack of 6 don't come and attack you. Theres no goal that I strive to reach. It's sort of just continue on getting quests, leveling etc. I didn't find the game addictive like I did Diablo. It's reallllly slow paced. I'm far too impatient to spend 20 minutes traveling to a destination point.
It has it's good points. I never experience lag on it. Easy learning curve. It's free to play online. The requirements to play are pretty low.
I just got Hellgate London yesterday so I've been getting into that. Seems fun so far. Maps seem to repeat over and over. So far I've only come across 3 different maps.
They aren't expansions. Really, each game is quite different. Nightfall has nothing to do with the other two. you can't play with people playing from the other two, its a seperate game. Just a different feeling to it.
Myself, I hate MMORPGS. Auto-attack is gay. So... don't get it?

Umm.. Yes you can o.o There's boats you can get on to travel to each area so a nightfall person can go and play through the factions story and the prophecies/eye of the north. It's all possible. If you don't own the other two games then you can't go to their world.
They're expansions/seperate games. They add new skillst eachother and such but they have differen't stories and if you have them all you can go to the other places.
I played guildwars when it came out an I've beatin factions / nightfall I never bothered picking up eye of the north. I guess they're coming out with another expansion soonish. The game is fun. Most of it is group and guild oriented like someone stated in a previous post. I really enjoyed doing guild vs. guild pvp that stuff was pretty good, but I had other games that I enjoyed a lot more than GW at the time so I put off on playing that for a while.
It is very strong pvp based, thats basically what the whole game is built upon plus it kind of has firm storyline,( pending on if you pick up Prophecies, factions, nightfall, and eye of the north ) ... Chaos they are all in the same story line. You kid.. obviously haven't played them in order from earliest release to current. It does follow through a good storyline. I blew through nightfall pretty quick I think that was the best out of the three. I can't say anything about eye of the north just yet.
In my opinion it's best going from prophecies to factions then nightfall then over to eye of the north so you get a better understanding of whats going on in the game.
As far as factions / nightfall they weren't noted as expansions. The only real expansion for guildwars is eye of the north, but if you get one of them you might as well pick em all up so you can get the full benefit of unlockable skills and items n crap like that for pvp.
It's kind of funny that the game has only been out for a couple years an they're releasing a guild wars 2 about a year an a half from now, neat thing is if you have eye of the north there's a place where you get to save all of your characters so when guildwars 2 is released you can load up all your characters you saved an keep on truck'n.

Heh, of course you think they're dumb. You're only like.. what, thirteen years old? I think diablo 2 was probably the only game I really played when I was thirteen / fourteen other than battlefield 1942 / unreal tournament n' crap like that. Most kids don't have the intelligence, patience, or motivation to really be any good at MMO's even easy to understand ones like guildwars an wow because all they ever want to do is bitch and moan like you do in most of your posts.
I played GW for a number of months. I experienced factions, nightfall, and prophecies, and would say that nightfall is the best and factions the worst. The game has very strong PvP ties as mentioned before, and the lvl 20 cap does limit you, but the strong point is the strategy. I found more strategy in GW than in any game i've yet to play (yes including diablo). With 2 character professions you can have at a time, the primary including a special stat. Also the fact that you can only choose 8 skills from some hundred skills with your 2 professions, each set is balanced fantastically, there is no super build (that i have yet found after hours of searching).
The fact that characters dont look very unique is a downside, but the plus is that if you design your own build, you can be pretty sure that not many others use it unless it is widely broadcasted. I think that build uniqueness counts for more than your character looking kind of unique, but even just from items there are multiple appearances you can give your character.
The guilds in guildwars work really well if you find a successful one. If you like team playing then a strong guild with 50+ members is the right path for you.
I think I'm kinda trailing off here and I keep getting distracted; losing my train of thought so I'll just sum it up.
Basically, fantastic strategy, strong PvP if not some of the best, great teamwork (especially in PvP), you can also change around your skills and appreciates anytime (that is very handy and is pretty awesome for the pvp), Good storyline (if you have patience or time to follow it), but it can get old (the pvp can seem pushed a bit too much), the expansion after expansion gets old (especially since it does seem to weaken the strategy and balance sometimes, you can kind of tell that the teams rush a bit to get them out so the gameplay suffers some), and auto attack is... eh your opinion pretty much, i find it ok.

Strawman? Not so much anymore, I'm just stating my opinion.
i played gw 4 a while but i got stuck on this one part where u cant have any team8s and kept getting uber pissed, and it was fun but lag spikes make the gameplay inconsistant and a lil boring at times(but hey subsription its free) i would hold out for oblivion mmo, which dosnt have a release date yet but bethesda has poured a giant bag of gold into this project so im expecting a gradeouse reveal sumtime in the near future.
I have Guild Wars. I barely play it anymore though since I'm no good at making friends in online games.
I know exactly what you mean. I always buy online RPGs but never socialize enough to get like a consistent game going on with a buddy. Sorta ruins them for me ya know.

Like, hmm... yes they are kinda alike but they were announced as whole new games, not expansions.
