If you haven't read Birthright, Scales of the Serpent or the Sunwell Trilogy yet but wish to do so, I suggest that you do not read further. Major spoilers. WARNING!!! SPOILERS!!!
Ok, so I just finished the second book in the Sin War trilogy, and I've really started thinking about how what he writes affects both Warcaft and Diablo.
For all of you who do not know very much about Warcraft lore, there are five dragon aspects: Alexstraza, Neltharion (a.k.a Deathwing), Nozdormu, Malygos and Ysera. What is interesting is that only the former two were created by Blizzard, the last three first appeared in Knaak's writing. And look at Warcraft now, they all play important roles in the overall plot, and removing them would be problematic. But that's no problem right, it al works out pretty well wouldn't you say?
But then we have another instance. When Sargeras was about to enter Azeroth during the First Invasion, Broxigar, an orc from the future, jumped through and slew thousands of demons as well as injuring Sargeras himself in his full might. And we all know who Sargeras is, right? The immensely powerful Dark Titan who enslaved all demonic races he came upon and even created the Eredar. And he is hurt wounded by an orc with some measily axe enchanted by Cenarius? Doesn't make sense to me.
And then supposedly, though I myself haven't read the Sunwell trilogy, it is mentioned that the Old Gods are the most powerful being in the Universe, more so that the Titans themselves. And there it completely stops making sense to me. The Old Gods are just five beings who were content to sitting and doing nothing in Azeroth for god knows how long, while the Titans travelled cosmos and shaped all the worlds in them. And when they fought, one Old God died while the others were imprisoned. There were probably more than five Titans, but still.
I cannot help but think though that this is the inevitalbe result of Knaak's writing, because after finishing Scales of the Serpent I feel that Sanctuary is heading the same way. Inarius seems much too powerful, and if he is, why the heck doesn't he just move in and squish Unldyssian. Since the only thing he wants is to remake Sanctuary yet again, that'd save him the trouble.
And then we have Trang'Oul that just pops out and turns out to exist, and the implication that there is something above the High Heavens and the Burning Hells. I don't know, it jsut feels to me that Diablo is heading away in a strange direction.

i thought it was really weird after what happend in SOTS. the nephalim were spawned by lilith and inarius... mating.. which is fine for the plot. but the humans are the result of hundreds of years of weakening nephalim caused by the world stone draining their powers? i hope knaak doesnt do something too crazy, like linking diablo with warcraft.

i dont think Blizzard would allow that. I think Knaak contacts Metzen (the official Blizzard Lore author) before changing too much and the things he writes suit the lore more or less in a way the company wants it.

Did the Worldstone actually drain their powers, or did it merely subdue them? The difference would be at which rate they can become powerful again. If the former it would be close to impossible for them to regain their former glory, while in the latter it would take a few years or decades perhaps.
But regarding the craziness, how else would you explain the sudden appearance of humans? They must have come from somewhere.

I don't know, as a writer I would be pissed if what I wrote was orchestrated too much by someone else. I would want a pretty free hand. But then again, if I couldn't take it, I wouldn't write for an anlraedy creater universe, I'd create my own instead.
