I'm just wondering. Does anybody know how long it should take for an open facial wound to fully heal or at least get to the stage where progress of healing can definitely be seen?
I had surgery for an abscess on my face last Tuesday, and yesterday I had the stitches removed. It is an open wound with a little bit of flesh sticking out and oozing a little bit of pus. The doctor says it looks good so far. I want to know approximately how long I have to wait to truly see some progress.

I would say a week or 2. Sadly any movement can open the wound and cause it to open . This would slow down healing. Keep on the doctors orders and youll be fine in no time ( a week or 2 with any luck)
Just gonna throw this out there. You're talking about something pretty gross. Your entire color scheme is green. The color that makes people feel nauseous and is related to sickness. And your avatar is a scorpion, representing poison and sickness. No offense or anything, it just happens that you seemingly unintentionally present yourself in a very sickly fashion.
I have no idea how long facial wounds take to heal.

Yeah just don't open your mouth too big...amarite?
It depends on how deep the wound goes, but it would take two to three weeks for the first healing (closing of the wound), and one to two months to completely heal.
If its a deep wound it will take longer, you should start to see healing ( it wont be better, however you'll notice healing) in about 2 weeks. Keeping it clean and try not to reopen it will help so much in the long run. I hope for a speedy recovery... its not fun.
It depends on how deep the incision is, your immunity status, your general health, how much you take care of it, how careful you are that it doesn't get touched/hit/whatever, how much you drink, how much you rest...etc
It should be almost all healed up within 10 days, I'd say.
Unless anyone here is a doctor don't listen to what they are saying. Listen you your doctor and use common sense and you should heal fast.
On a side note. When I had arthroscopic surgery on my knee, my doctor told me to drink green tea so the incisions heal faster. Drinking real green tea helps with healing skin diseases and wounds. You can do a fast search and find a lot of research on that. But you have to get the real stuff not that lipton crap in tea bags. If you have a Chinese herbal store or grocery store they might sell the real green tea that you have to boil and strain. Ask you doctor though before you do this to see if he approves.

I'll just tell you what I tell my kid, "just quit picking at the damn thing and it will heal."
